  1. Hmmm. I'm not sure. All of the pics I have seen of the private events are round tables.
  2. Don't give up on it! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Nowhere on their site does it list ANY exclusions on beauty salon services. I took screen shots of all of the fine print if you need it. I had to battle with them to get them to honor the resort credits being used toward videography since I booked my wedding with them prior to the change. The one person who seemed to be able to get things done was Ro Lopez who runs the Palace Facebook page. I would complain on that. I know I will be if they come back and say we can't use it. The resort credits are a MAJOR reason I picked Palace Spa.docx
  3. Hey ladies!! Just passing along some WC info and attachments! I believe that we will go with the Italian food for the semi-private dinner, so whenever you have a chance to send the choices that would be great.[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] please find attached the Italian Menu. Please select one dish of each category and that will be the set menu to be served to your guest on your wedding reception. My first instinct would be to have the cocktail hour in the South Solarium but would it be too chilly on a January night? Does the Cielo Terrace have an indoor and outdoor section?[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] it might be kind of chilly for people that is used to the Cancun weather (hot) but if you’re coming down from a cold place it will be ok. / Cielo bar does not have a indoor/out door section, it is only outdoors. ***I'm still kinda stuck on where to have this cocktail hour, so suggestions would be great! It will be at night, as I will be having it AFTER the semi-private dinner, so somewhere that would be well lit and pretty would be best. I'm pretty sure I hate the script for the symbolic ceremony, so I think I may just go with customizing one based off some of the ideas on the "share your ceremony script" thread from here. It just is catching me as way religious for a symbolic ceremony Private Events Playacar.pdf Terraza- italiano.pdf Symbolic Ceremony Script (2).docx HORS D'OEUVRES 2011.pdf Playacar Complementay.pdf
  4. It was not easy! I found the flip flops on David's Bridal and they are pretty flat. For the dressier flats for our AHR, it was pretty tough. You can check etsy for bridal flats, same thing with Amazon. I REALLY lucked out with mine, DSW had one pair left online in my size and they were about $60-$70 cheaper than everywhere else online. That style is "dasher". Good luck!
  5. Welcome Far18!!! Questions for any already-married PP brides....how long did it take you to do your "walk up the aisle." I am starting to decide on music and am figuring that out. We are getting married on the South Beach, thanks to Tanya's beautiful pics!! Our ceremony is at 4 in January so I am hoping that there won't be too many random sunbathers since sunset is at 5:15 - 5:20. We are doing a "first look" session with our photographer at 2:30 or 3. I was originally dead-set against it, but after talking to my photographer and reading some articles about it, my FI and I decided we are now in love with the idea, AND it means we don't need to try to change the timing of the ceremony as another PP bride told me she felt rushed to do pics with the early sunset.
  6. Would you mind attaching the script for the symbolic ceremony? I am getting married at Playacar but I am sure it is at least close to what my minister would use
  7. Ladies, where is everyone having their cocktail party? I am going to take the lead of another Palace bride and have my cocktail AFTER our dinner since I am not purchasing a private function and will not have enough rooms to qualify. I'm a little nervous about how chilly it may be since the cocktail would be at about 8 or 9 and our wedding is in January. 60 degrees may seem a bit cold if sunburnt!
  8. Oh no! I would forward her the e-mail confirmation you have from January and say that you want to speak with her supervisor. Also, Palace has a Facebook page and the guy Ro who runs it is wonderful and will get things done for you. I went to him because I wanted the videographer promo honored that was in effect when I booked my wedding, where we could use resort dollars to pay for it. I did look on their site and it says 40, but if you have an exception in place get that over to them right away
  9. Hi Dan! I am getting married at Playacar Palace and am also doing a symbolic there and getting legally married once we return home. Just let your WC know ahead of time, but it has not been a problem - you just may not get the "honeymoon" package which has breakfast in bed the next day but heck you have 24 hour room service!!
  10. Hi ladies, just wanted to share... Hi Mercedes, I have a few questions for you. I understand that I will not be assigned a WC until 90 days out, but I am hoping to get some things squared away before this school semester kicks off into full swing for me. I was hoping for your assistance with the following: Can I please secure a location for my 4 pm wedding. We would like to have the ceremony take place on the beach, and as I have seen beautiful wedding pictures from the South end of the beach I believe that is where we would like to have it.[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] I have in hold the south beach for your wedding ceremony at 04:00 p.m. In the event that I will not be using my bouquet or boutteniere, what arrangement may I get instead? [Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] I’m sorry Kristyn but as I’ve mentioned to you before, you’re having a complementary wedding package, all the amenities included in the package as part of a courtesy and in case you decide not to use them it is no possible to exchange them for others. What you can do is to select the bouquet and boutonnière and then use the flowers as your better convenience. If you’re bringing a base, you can untied the bouquet and place the flowers in there, it will looks like a nice flower arrangement We will have enough room nights booked for the complimentary cocktail hour. When can I book the location and can you please send me a listing of locations, as well as menu choices?[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] please find attaché file with the optional areas for a private cocktail also, the horse d’oeuvre’s menus presentation attached. We will not have enough for a private function; therefore we will have the semi-private dinner. When can I book the location and can you please send me a listing of locations, as well as menu choices?[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] please choose between Mexican or Italian specialties to send you the menu. We are having a symbolic ceremony and I had the following questions Can you tell me a little bit about who may be saying our ceremony?[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] I’m sorry but I don’t directly know the minister but what you would like to know about him? Can you please confirm that since it is not civil, that it will be in English[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] yes it will be in English. How much of our ceremony are we able to write? We absolutely want to write our own vows, but we would like to add some other parts to the script as well.[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] please send your script and vows to consult it directly with the minister. With the semi-private dinner, cocktail, and beach wedding – what type of decoration or set-up comes standard? 1 hour of cocktail reception includes: 1 hour open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Additional hours are 50% each of first hour. *Includes standard décor (white tablecloth and napkins) & function space Semiprivate dinners take place at the restaurant so existent decoration will apply. I understand that my wedding is on a VERY big day in Mexico – Little Christmas. I’m excited to know what kind of decorations Playacar Palace will have up from the holidays.[Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] I believe there will still part of the regular Christmas decoration but don’t worry that doesn’t apply for all the areas in the resort, it is mostly in the main lobby. Thank you!!!!![Mercedes Maragda Hernandez Ramirez] it is my pleasure.
  11. Things are good! Crazy with school, but good. E-mailed the WC today to attempt to get some things done before this semester really starts taking over my life, lol. Love seeing that all the other Palace bries are staying on top of things!! You ladies help me sooooo much
  12. David's Bridal!! They should be easy to get year round there too
  13. Oops! Try again!! I wanted to be "short" for both the ceremony and AHR since my Fi loves when he can easily kiss my forehead For the ceremony - barefoot and then flip flops For the AHR - some stylish flats
  14. Thank you so much for sharing Jess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful wedding!! I finally got Palace to agree to let me use my resort credits for the videography since my wedding was booked prior to them changing the resort credit policy. It was a pain in the butt to get them to do it, but they finally agreed.
  15. Hey there Jess!! I'm getting married at Playacar Palace in January with a smaller group like yours (prob about 20 ppl or so) and am also having an AHR. I am not planning on purchasing a private event since we are having the AHR the week we get back. I didn't see a review by you so I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple questions: Did you just use the cocktail hour? Or did you purchase a private event? If just the cocktail hour and the semi-private dinner, were the guests (and you!) happy with that? Since you brought your own flowers, did they allow you to substitute the flowers that would have come with your package for something else? And I think you had talked before about using the resort dollars for videography? If so, how did the video come out? Thanks! And congrats!
  16. Hey there Tabby! I am also planning on bringing my own flowers. I had asked Mercedes if since I wouldn't need my bouquet or my fiance's bout. we could instead have petals for my flower girls and a flower set up for the alter like other PP brides had done. She responded that there were no substitutions. Did you talk to your WC about that?
  17. Hey ladies! Just wanted to pass along a Palace e-mail... Enviado el: Wednesday, June 22, 2011 6:48 PM Para: Fernando Castillo Jimenez Asunto: McCrohan/Gray Conf# : 42698 1-6-12 Hi there, My name is Kristyn Gray and my fiancé and I will be getting married at Playacar Palace on January 6th. We have a room block for 17 rooms from Tuesday 1/3 - Sunday 1/8. I had a few questions about the resort credit and resort entertainment that my travel agent said to refer to you. 1. I understand that room upgrades and excursion bookings must be done at the hotel and cannot be done in advance. Our room block is for resort view. Is it likely that guests (and my future husband and I) will be able to upgrade or do you generally sell out at that time of year. 2) Are we limited to booking excursions available to Playacar Palace alone or can we book excursions available at other Palace Resorts? 3) My guests are very interested in snorkeling. Is there snorkel equipment available for us to use if we take the ferry over to Cozumel Palace ? 4) With the Stay at One, Play at All, how often does the advertised shuttle run to Moon Palace , and once there - are there shuttles running to the Cancun Palace Resorts? Thanks, K Dear Ms. Gray, First of all, we would like to thank you for selecting Playacar Palace as your destination for such special occasion in your life as you Weeding. As per your questions and as you stated, tours you can book using your Resort Credit and upgrades also using the Credit, can only be book upon arrival. Right now will be quite early to tell you how the occupancy will be. However, it is high season and normally we are about 80 percent of occupancy. The tours that you can book using your Credit, are the ones offered for Playacar Palace only. If your guests will like to snorkel at Cozumel, they should take the ferry there (which costs around 25USD per person round trip) and once they are, at Cozumel Palace can ask to borrow the snorkeling gear to be use in their property. If they would like to take equipment out of the property, they can rent it there for an extra cost. From Playacar Palace , you can use the Courtesy Van we have to go to Moon Palace . It’s only one per day and will departure from our Resort at 11am. Moon Palace has transportation to the other sister Resorts on Cancun ’s Hotel Zone. Nevertheless you will not be able to catch it, as they will departure earlier than the time our transportation will arrive there. We hope you find this information useful. Should there be anything else we can assist you with, do not hesitate to contact us, it will always be our pleasure. 19. Coco!!! Jillian is the freaking best! I fell off the wagon and decided to jump back in by re-starting 30 Day Shred. I looooove her!
  20. Coco!!! Congratulations!!!! I can't wait to see some pics
  21. Haha! I feel the same way! I feel like I fell off the "wedding wagon". My date is January 6 with an AHR of Jan 13 and we have yet to register. Finally did a few wedding related things the other day, now I feel like I'm getting some steam back! We just cane back from Italy (part of the reason I kept forgetting about wedding planning - I was so excited about that!) and I told my fiancé we should elope when we were in Venice or Rome but he wasn't having it, lol.
