  1. Here's the hair comb I purchased, for the Canadian girls, check out the site, the prices are pretty reasonable: http://www.lorilocks.ca/index.php
  2. For the ladies with smaller groups, as long as your group has 15 room nights booked, you are eligible for the free cocktail hour. That would probably be a good event for little ones, since it's not a formal sit down. For dinner, you have the group reservation at one of the restaurants.
  3. Tris, so glad you lucked out and found such amazing shoes. They are gorgeous, and so are your BM dresses! We went to a bridal show yesterday, it wasn't much help with all the little things we still need, but I did manage to find a rhinestone comb for my hair. So that's one thing off the list. Also finished off mother's corsages and started work on my veil.
  4. Looks gorgeous Ginger! I think the fit is amazing considering it was ordered all online.
  5. Forgot to mention a couple of things. First, Lisa you're not much older than me. But yes, we are going to have to pop out these babies pretty quickly. Second, maybe we could do the post wedding spa day, show off your pictures?
  6. Lisa, I think if you're doing a wine label you could just use the center of your logo with your names. Maybe around the edge you change it to a "Thanks for celebrating with us." Are you just using regular labels or are you purchasing wine bottle labels? Should be easy enough to create a word document once you have the label dimensions.
  7. I'm going from an "F" to a "G" but I think anything will take some getting used to. On a related note, we got our birth certs and it's so funny that my mom's signature hasn't changed one bit.
  8. That's so sweet! It will be strange writing a new last name. I already think it will be like when we were really young and would practice writing our names with our crushes. I also really take my time signing things now, as a farewell to the old signature.
  9. Laura - I know how you feel about the shower thing. Mine is in two weeks and the invites just went out yesterday. If you ever want to do a spa bachelorette let me know. I feel like I missed a lot of events too because our parents are all in the Ottawa area.
  10. Both dresses are beautiful but I think you made the best choice. Like you said, the other one just isn't practical for your theme and venue. I too experienced the "can't stop looking" feeling, but that's because I never felt a special attachment to the dress I chose. You'll look gorgeous on your day. If you want, maybe you can look into adding some bling like a sash? I added fuchsia netting to my crinoline to make it feel more special to me.
  11. I picked up my flowers over Christmas and while I was opening the box my sister sat to watch my reaction, my mom walked in, looked at the stuff and walked out. Ummmm... no comments? It is almost like she feels it's not a real wedding. Especially since it's not in a church. Oh well, I'm not going to let everyone's negativity ruin the most amazing day of our lives. But on a different note, saw this cute hair pin on etsy for anyone with a starfish theme.
  12. Originally, FMIL was great. I think maybe because even though her and FIL have always been together, she's never done the wedding thing and doesn't understand all the stress. I also think because she's more small town she doesn't understand a lot of the things my family wants to have included. Perhaps she's overwhelmed, but leave your emotions at home because all you have to do is show up. Anyways, she needs to loosen the apron strings because her little boy is all grown up and makes his own choices, with my input not hers. As for my family, my mom seems uninterested and my sister thinks nothing is good enough for her, but is too cheap to spend $200 on a dress. Thank goodness for FI, always my hero and supporter.
  13. Is anyone having in-law issues? Our visit after Christmas ended with FMIL making the following comments, "The princess always has to have her way," and while FI left me in the car with his parents "As usual, you make me the villain." And the whole thing started because I didn't want her hovering over us while we picked out FI's ring.
  14. My biggest tip, other than reading and watching this forum, would be to contact airlines for a group discount rate. Most are willing to offer about 10% off, not much but at least something. Our Miami contact is Pilar, she is great in the beginning and any time I wanted to make a payment, but I'm really jealous of the amount of time she spends out of the office. She's never there.
  15. I don't think Linen is too bad in the humidity unless he will be sitting down a lot. Just make sure to keep him on his feet. Your bride-o-grams are so cute. I could never hang that one up, it would never come down and everyone would find out that I do 99% of wedding stuff at work and no real work!
  16. Lisa - My FI wanted to lose about 20 lbs before our wedding so one of his friends convinced him to try Wild Rose D-Tox. He didn't want to do it alone so I'm doing it with him. It's a cleanse and gluten-free, dairy-free, modified sugar-free diet. We took our first batch of pills today. His friend lost 15-20 pounds after following the diet for a month. I don't want to change my shape because I already had my dress fitted, but hopefully it will help me with a general feeling of well being.
  17. You did pretty well yourself yesterday! I think we're doing the full suit and tie. For the GM I would be willing to settle for shirt and tie, but FI totally wants the full suit.
  18. I have a feeling that we will stay the most active forum until after all our weddings. I think you ladies are more involved in my wedding planning than anyone else, haha.
  19. Laura they look great. I hope you have a paper slicer to help the process.
  20. Brandy - It's funny I also work in construction and whenever anyone needs to buy something they come to me to find the best price. Jana - It was actually one that Brandy posted.
  21. Brandy, Do you remember the source for this one?
  22. I would ask to be able to include all guest bookings in your room count, no matter how they book, through membership, group booking, direct to resort or through a tour operator. I'm still not sure how to handle the outside vendor policy, most brides just take their chances. Do you know specifically which items you want to use for outside vendors?
  23. Nice stuff from Vista Print. I really should make a final order, but haven't received any good shipping offers. They want $50 before free shipping, my first order was only $25!
  24. I think I'd prefer a headband, just to help keep my hair/bangs in place with the wind. I was also concerned about too many different things going on since my dress already has an ivory rose on the waist.
