  1. Cindy- Thanks for the advice. I have never heard of that. Yea I'm definitely shocked as I've always tried to lose weight and couldn't. I'll have to pick up some of those shakes. But not too many! Don't want to grow out of my dress. I've got to try and reach that happy medium weight. Hopefully it'll work out. I've been working on a playlist of Caribbean music for my Ipod. Thought it would be fun to listen to while tanning on the beach or to get myself excited on the flight there. Any one doing this too?
  2. Wow. I never thought I would ever ever say this but I wish I would gain some weight. I don't know what happened.... I've lost 15 pounds in the last couple weeks.... I haven't been dieting or anything and I stopped working out (P90X) a while ago! I found out yesterday when I went to the doctor for a check up. I thought the scale was broken. I made her take my weight on another scale I couldn't believe it. MY DRESS IS GI-NORMOUS... it keeps slipping down. When I got it it was less than 1/2 inch too big in waist. Now I can't keep it up. I'm gonna need some major boob implants or something to even keep it up. So much for my hopes of having an inexpensive alteration bill. Anyone have some tips? I want to gain some weight but not overgain. Other than this fiasco- I've been shopping for the groom's outfit. Found a really cool beachy shirt... now I just have to find some khaki pants that match. Also have been watching lots of tutorials on Youtube on how to fix hair and do makeup as I will be doing this myself on D-Day. I highly recommend this as it gives you an idea of the different hairstyles and makeup options that are out there. CJ- love love love the dress. You look so gorgeous in it!
  3. Okay thank goodness its not just me. I've been looking for the original thread for FOREVER! So much helpful information and pictures have been lost. Well approx 90 days til we are in Punta Cana and I am soooo excited. In case anyone hasn't bought luggage yet Macy's is having a HUUUGE sale on luggage sets including free shipping and an extra 15% off the ticket price. I'm getting ready to buy mine right now. Oh btw, does anyone know how much the outside vendor/day pass is? We booked an outside photographer and my wc is apparently pre-occupied with something else. thanx
  4. Super exciting! How far along are you on the planning? Have you picked out your dress? I just got mine yesterday. I am so excited I've been dreaming that I'm there already!
  5. It needs to be altered. 5 inches need to be chopped off of the bottom and I'm having my train taken off as well. As soon as everything is done and fits like its supposed to I will definitely post pictures. I think light fabric is a great idea for a destination wedding. I don't want to be sweating my butt off! Are you having your dress made overseas? I thought about having a dress replicated but it was gonna cost me almost the same amount of money so I decided not to. What are pre-travel brochures?? Oh and I'm totally with you on spending too much time on just the fun stuff. I'm supposed to be studying for finals- not spending countless hours on BDW. lol Its addicting, really.
  6. Hey NC ladies. I'm in Jacksonville- our wedding date is October 24 2010 in Punta Cana! Its so great to meet other NC brides. Happy Planning!
  7. Bride Loving CJ and other Punta Cana Brides: My wedding is in Punta Cana also and I don't know if it would be available at your resort or not but I came across a really neat company that records your wedding live and directly sends the feed to your family and friends who couldn't make it to your destination wedding. I'm debating if I'm going to do it- its a little pricey but I think that our families would really enjoy it and it would mean a lot to them. PM me if you want the info.
  8. OOOOOOoooo. I love those towels. They look super comfy! Well I said 'yes' to the dress today! I got the 2nd one that was more in my budget and I am sooo happy I did. I love it more today than I did when I first put it on. I'm obsessed!! I think I've tried it on twice already today. Sent the passports in this morning too. Man, I'm really on a roll. Now all I have left to do is, well, everything else. It will be smooth sailing from now on I think. Anybody have pics of their wedding dresses they wanna share? I love seeing people's selections= they show a little bit of that person's personality.

Do you have plans to wear the dress again, if not, don't worry about what the water does to it. As long as it doesn't fall apart in the water, you're good (that's my plan with my ttd dress). The dress that is 199.00 is taffeta which I have heard acts like a parachute in the water. We most definitely are doing TTD photos!!! I don't care if I trash the dress- I just want it to hold up in the water and look good. I don't want to look like a marshmallow. Has anyone had or heard about brides wearing a taffeta dress for TTD? I'm kind of concerned. Anyway I'm going back tomorrow to look at it again and take pictures- I have to make sure before I get it. I think I am the most type-A person ever. Its a good thing we're doing a destination wedding so I have less things to be in control of and micro manage to a tee.
  10. I am using HDC in October and I am very excited! I've heard so many great things/reviews- thanks ladies for the input!
  11. #1! #1! Although I favor dress #2 (its one I'm looking at) you shine in the first dress! You look beautiful!

Everything else is minor. Best Wishes! You are much further along than I am! Its a good thing I'm on this forum- you guys are helping me to get on the ball. I guess I should send those passports in, eh? CJ we'd love to see your dress once you pick it out. I love seeing everyones selections. Happy dress shopping.
  13. My husband and I are getting married by ourselves in the Dominican Republic. At first I was a little worried about whether or not it was going to be awkward with just the two of us and no guests. I now think that it is going to be great! We won't have to babysit guests or feel bad about not spending time with them after the wedding (it is our honeymoon too afterall!). We get married in October.... so excited. Wish you best of luck
  14. Hey everybody- sounds like everyone's planning is coming along. Wow = can't believe October is not too far off. Definitely getting excited. Went dress shopping today to try and see if I could fall in love with something other than the dress I tried on at David's Bridal (#2). Anyway- I'm perplexed as to what dress I should get. We're getting married on the beach. I love dress #2 (with sash) but it is really expensive(500.00) (for our wedding budget) and I would want some major alterations done. Dress #1 is a steal of a deal. It's 50% off resulting in a price of 199.00. It's pretty and I like it and all but I'm worried about the type of fabric it is not doing well during our TTD session. What do you guys think?? CIMG0433.jpg picture by knacarato - Photobucket

  16. Thanks for the advice guys. Gosh this whole thing is more nerve racking than I thought it would be. :0
  17. HELP! So I'm getting married in the Dominican Republic- I found a dress I like but it is out of budget and I'm worried it is too formal for the beach. Also- its ivory and I'm planning on getting married in a white gazebo.... do you guys think the ivory will contrast with the white too much? Do you think this is too formal?? Groom is going to be wearing khakis and a white button down shirt. Really appreciate your input as I am doing all dress shopping on my own. It is easy to get lost without a second pair of eyes. 18. OOOPs! Forgot to post my date: October 24, 2010
  19. Hey ladies! I'm a late join. My husband and I have actually been married for about 3 years but because we were 18 when we got married and he was in the military we couldn't afford to have a wedding or honeymoon. We are having our ceremony and honeymoon at Paradisus Palma Real in the Dominican Republic. I am so excited!! Went dress shopping yesterday- that was interesting. David's Bridal was having a "sale." The cheapest dress I tried on was 300.00 and of course the one I like the most is way out of my budget and is 449.00!! GRRRRR! Happy planning!
  20. Hey Everybody- My husband and I have been married 2.5 years and are going to have a vow renewal and honeymoon at Paradisus Palma Real. Because we were young and my husband was in the military when we got married we weren't able to have a ceremony or honeymoon. Needless to say I am ecstatic. Name: Kaitlin Date: October 24 Location: Palma Real- Punta Cana
