  1. Hi all, So I only have 20 minutes till we have to leave for the airport but I couldn't leave without saying thanks to you all for your wonderful company over the last few months. Good luck to you all over the next few weeks. I'll keep you posted with how things go! Abby
  2. Hi Evgal! We are having our AHR only 1 week after we get back so we were in the same boat, we had to send out our invitations before we were married. It was really tough thinking of appropriate wording, but in the end we went with this: Abby and Simon are getting married! Please join them at their wedding reception At Venue On this date and at this time Then I gave our website info. Our AHR is going to be pretty formal though.
  3. Congrats Alda! We're date twins!

  5. I also had great success with shrinky dinks. Our wine charms were so so easy to make and I'm thrilled with how they turned out. I'm thinking of making them for our AHR too!
  6. I'm not hiring a videographer either to try and save a bit of money. Instead, I'm planning on making a slideshow of our photos with some music in the background. It's not exactly a video, but it'll be something to watch when we want to reminisce!
  7. Hi BDWers! I've been inspired so much by other people's invites I thought I would share the ones my fiance and I created for our AHR. They became a bit of a nightmare in the end (we had to make 65 of them!) but we're thrilled with the way they look and overall we had a lot of fun making them. They're obviously not as good as professionally-made ones but I think our guests will like them, and they fit in well with the beach theme we're having. Sorry for the blurry photos. Enjoy!
  8. I'm not sure where you are skp1 but I'm in Australia and got it from an Australian company. Here is their website: http://www.mrk.com.au/ Quote: Originally Posted by skp1 Cabs, where did you get that dress? It looks perfect.
  9. Here's mine but I have it in white, not pink. It's incredibly flattering - I love it!
  10. Beautiful Nicyx! I'm getting married exactly 5 months today! So excited, even though I still have so much to do. Eek!
  11. I would probably have an uneven bridal party Jules. As EricaMarie said, I wouldn't choose another person that you are not particularly close to just for the sake of having equal numbers. And I certainly wouldn't drop a groomsman - if that was me I would be extremely hurt. Good luck with your decision though - I know its not easy.
  12. Janis - great to hear from you! Yes, I hear you about men tending to leave things to the last minute. It was actually really lucky we ordered my FI a shirt so early as it arrived and it was absolutely huge on him. We've had to re-order it so at the moment he still has nothing to wear! I haven't really done much more planning actually. I originally contacted my wedding planner about 14 months before the wedding and wanted to get as much done as early as possible. I've come to realise now that everyone is on 'Anguilla time', no-one seems to be in any rush, and I'm just assuming my planner is on top of things. So I'm feeling very laid back about the w'hole thing at the moment which is nice - I just hope this feeling lasts. Still, we're gradually getting there. We still haven't sorted out food but I've been promised some menus from private chefs so I think we'll just wait for those to arrive and then choose one of them. Anyway, what stage are you up to? Am I correct in thinking you are getting married in December? If so that's not long at all - how exciting! Ilulko - welcome to the Anguilla thread! Unfortunately I haven't been to Anguilla before so I'm not sure how much help I'll be. CuisinArt does look amazing though - perhaps a good starting point would be to contact the wedding planners there as I am sure they'll be able to help organise things and suggest vendors for you. Good luck!
  13. Hi ladies! Â Bklynbridetobe - it's great to hear you are thinking of Anguilla! Anguilla has a huge selection of villas, and I found them to be a really cost-effective option. Like Janis, I just did a search on the internet, and narrowed it down based on the number of bedrooms we needed and price. Good luck with the decision-making. Its certainly not easy! Â Janis - we are still at the fairly early stages of planning. We have booked our villa (also a 6-7 bedroom one - I wonder if its the same one!), Susan for photography, and have ordered my dress and my FI's outfit. We still need to sort out food, music, flowers and decorations. It would be really good to hear about what you are doing for food - I'm really stuck on this one! Â Good luck with the planning everyone!
  14. Hi Janis, Â Not sure I am going to be much help, but I'm getting married in Anguilla in May 2011. My wedding planner recommended a 5pm ceremony. By the time the ceremony finishes the sun should be starting to set, which apparently is a great time for photos. Â Congratulations on your engagement by the way! Its fantastic to have another Anguilla bride on the forum - I can't wait to hear how it all goes!
  15. I don't think there's anything more romantic than having a wedding with just the two of you. Go for it!
  16. Hi everyone! I'm a May 2011 bride too! I'm getting married on May 5th in Anguilla (less than 9 months away - so excited)!
  17. Welcome! I'm getting married in Anguilla too!
  18. Oooohhh... So many fantastic songs! Choosing is so hard, I still haven't made up my mind! At the moment I'm thinking of Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours by Stevie Wonder as I don't really want anything too lovey-dovey. It just makes me want to dance (possibly not the best thing when I'm supposed to be walking sedately down the aisle)! EDIT - just suggested this to my FI who thinks this would work best walking back down the aisle after the ceremony, when it really is signed, sealed and delivered. Oh well... back to the drawing board!
  19. I think we're going with I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.
  20. Hi Wagnergirls! I'm like Mrs Price 2010. I don't like the tradition of the father giving away the bride - it would make me feel like a piece of property too. I get on well with my dad and I have actually discussed this issue with him. Luckily he was quite happy not to walk me down the aisle. He said that he wouldn't want me doing something I wasn't comfortable with and that providing he gets to do a Father-of-the-bride speech he'll be more than happy as he's great at public speeches and really enjoys it! I would have had him walk me down the aisle if he didn't feel so OK with it. Anyway, I'm going to walk myself down the aisle although I'm thinking it might be nice for my fiancee to meet me half way and then we both walk down towards the alter together. To me this symbolises us starting our lives together as a couple. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  21. Thanks everyone! This forum seems so friendly and supportive, as well as being full of great ideas and inspiration! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed after I got engaged with how much there was to think about and organise, but thanks to this forum not only do I now feel able to tackle the planning, I also can't wait to do so!
  22. Hi everyone! I'm Abby and am very excited to be getting married to my best friend on the 5th May 2011 in Anguilla. Can't wait to share ideas with you all!
