OOT Bags - Anyone DISLIKE???
Afaybik replied to proti007's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
My daughter has added something to her OOT bag that I have never seen listed on this site! After the summer she purchased reduced pool floats for everyone. She is giving one bag per couple but is including two pool floats in each bag. The pool floats were priced from 99 cents to $7.00, the more expensive ones going to the wedding party and immediate family but all of them are really nice floats and were reduced by 75%!! -
I would not suggest going with Caribe Photo. If you have to pick someone from Lomas, then go with Claudia Photo. They don't really offer that information since they want you to use Caribe. If you go with Claudia, you will not have to pay the $800. We are going with Samuel Luna (very reasonable) and he is splitting the vendor fee with us but our fee was $500. Karisma has since raised the fee to $800 which is really outrageous. We also hired DJ Doremixx as our DJ since we could not find out any info on the Lomas DJ. Other than the $800 outside vendor fee, Azul Beach is AMAZING!!

You all will LOVE Azul Beach! My daughter is getting married at Azul Beach on May 28, 2011. We did 15 site visits in August and when she got to Azul Beach (the last site visit), she knew this was the place she wanted to get married at! And, my daughter has a really hard time making decisions (it took 6 months and over 100 dresses before she picked "the one"). Azul Beach is an amazing place and if you want to know more just send a message to Melfaybik....she has a ton of pictures she would be happy to share, For more great info on Azul Beach, go on www.tripadvisor.com and put in Azul Beach and you will read the best reviews ever. There isn't one bad thing to say about the resort. The staff is wonderful, food is gourmet....no buffets, some of the rooms have been newly remodeled. I could go on and on and on....there is just too many amazing things to say about this hotel. You will NOT regret having your wedding here. The only thing I would suggest is to perhaps find your own photographer and videographer. We choose Samuel Luna as the photographer and Playa Weddings as the Videographer and if you can get Maria Fay as your wedding coordinator from the Miami Office. She is very quick at responding to questions. You can tell her Melissa and Arlene recommended her! She has done a ton of work for us and is always so prompt and helpful. Any questions, just ask and I'd be happy to help and I'm sure my daughter will be happy to help too - Melfaybik. Girls on this website have helped both of us tremendously and we would like to give back in any way we can! Arlene (Mel's Mom)

Try Samuel Luna Photography! Speaks great english and always replies within a few hours....even called me on the telephone. It took my daughter months until she finally decided on Samuel Luna. His pictures are amazing....he's reasonable and he throws in a free session along with your wedding day pictures!

Azul Beach in Riviera Maya. Maybe we'll ask the onsite wedding coordinator if there is any way to extend the reception. They already told us that the reception had to end at 11 PM and it would be held inside a restaurant but I guess the noise from the DJ would still travel outside!

If your ceremony is at 5:30, what time will your reception be? How many hour reception are you having? MY daughter wants at least a 5 hour reception with a 1 hour cocktail and everything has to end at 11 PM! Not much time for dinner and dancing!

Have you had a legal or symbolic wedding or are having one in the future, did they speak good english or was it hard to understand. My daughter is trying to decide between a legal or symbolic wedding. Any pros or cons for either?

Stay away from DestinationWeddings.com. My daughter got paired up with a travel coordinator from DW,com that was referred to us on this website. After about 6 weeks of going back and forth with her, she told us that the resort (Karisma) was sold out for our dates. We then contacted a GI Travel Agent and they were able to get 25 rooms for us the very next day. We have still not seen our $50.00 deposit returned to us and I'm just happy that we are rid of DW.com but since they were not able to get rooms for us, they should at least refund our $50.00 don't you think? If you are booking with a Karisma resort, definitely go with a GI Travel Agent. I have one that I can highly recommend if you send me a PM as I don't want her to get too busy before the wedding in May.

My daughter is getting married on May 28, 2011 at Azul Beach and we were wondering what time you had your ceremony and how long your reception was. She would like at least a 5 hour reception not counting the cocktail hour. Is there any way to extend the reception past 11 PM. The wedding coordinators in Miami said 11 PM was the latest but maybe the coordinators in Mexico will extend it a bit if we pay more money. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks! My daughter is getting married on May 28, 2011 and she is undecided on the tme of her ceremony. Doesn't want it to be too hot for her groom (he doesn't do well in the heat) but also wants to have at least a one hour cocktail hour and then at least a 5 hour reception after the cocktail hour. Were you able to extend your reception past 11 PM and if so, how did you do that? Are they flexible at all with the ending time of the reception? Thanks for any advice you can offer us. Seperate TTD dress???
Afaybik replied to NikkiT1021's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Do you really think the dress will be okay after jumping in the ocean with it. My daughter's designer, Alvina Valenta said not to take the dress in the water. Maybe she can buy a cheap dress for just the time they are in the water and take the pictures with the real dress just on the beach and not in the water. Any suggestions would reallty be appreciated. Thanks, Arlene -
RIU Caribe or RIU Cancun any thoughts?
Afaybik replied to arianne_sg's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I have stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas.....no comparison to the Riu Cancun or Riu Caribe. For a few extra dollars I would go with the Riu Palace. -
Huge Forum Update 7/27/2010: Please READ!
Afaybik replied to TammyWright's topic in Forum News & Updates
Thanks for the update, Tammy. I love this website and have found many useful threads in helping my daughter plan her wedding in Mexico. However, for some reason I am unable to post anything and have been unable to for at least the last month. Maybe you can tell me what the problem is. I am helping my daughter plan her wedding as best as I can and would love to be able to post some questions. Thanks, Arlene (mother of the bride) -
My daughter is looking at Gran Caribe Real Chapel too just because of it's fantastic location and views. I talked to the wedding coordinator there and she told me that both the bride and groom would need permission from their priest in the US before they could get married there. The groom is catholic....my daughter is not so I'm not sure she can get married there. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Arlene (mother of the bride)

Great review! My daughter is trying to decide between Adventura Palace, Moon Palace, beach Palace and Dreams Resorts. This may help alot. Can I ask you how much it was for the dinner and everything else just to get a ballpark figure since I think my daughter might be having between 80 and 100 people. Did you pick a certain package? Did they charge you extra for the private functions? Where did you get married and where did you have your reception. She does not want to get married on the beach. Also she wants her reception to be private and preferably indoors in case it rains. Any help you can be would be greatly appreciated. Congratulations on your marriage. Thanks, Arlene (mother of the bride)

My daughter is looking for a fabulous family friendly resort in Mexico that has great food (prefer all-inclusive) and would have to have a great ceremony location that is NOT on the beach. Also she would like a private indoor/outdoor reception. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She is open to anywhere in Mexico and she is looking to get married in late April or anytime in May 2011. Thanks in advance, Arlene (mother of the bride)
