  1. Hi ladies, I just wanted to share my centerpieces that I put together for my reception dinner! I was concerned at first about lugging them down but I will wrap them well with bubble wrap and carry them on the plane so they should be good, also I plan to have family and friend help bring them on their carry-ons as well.
  2. hi Brenners, I got my LED lights from Amazon for about $15 with shipping for a pack of 10 lights. I think they went up in price since, about $2 more. They come in other colors too, they are great!
  3. This poll is a "what-if" this website existed in the DR. In the whole destination wedding planning process, my FI and I are considering creating a web store that perhaps can focus on a few DW items that would be bulky or fragile to travel with such as glass vases, large tablecloths, etc. This would remove the inconvenience of traveling with so much stuff and at the same time offer the customer a variety of options for centerpieces and say, table linens at a cheaper cost than renting or buying them at the resort. Or another idea my FI and I are having is providing liquor to couples at the resorts (premium liquor), my FI is Dominican and has some connections to start finding out sources for this type of service. For now these are ideas we are considering for a store, the whole planning a destionation wedding has really opened my eyes to a need in this area of the Caribbean that has not been developed as of now.
  4. To respond to your question about DR having a Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, not in Punta Cana, which is one of the most popular resorts/DW spots in the DR in my opinion and experience so far reading this forum From what I know, their closest supermarkets are in the town nearby called Higuey but that is about an hour away, but nothing to the scale of a Walmart. I got quoted a ridiculous sum of money for centerpieces at my resort and that is why I am bringing my own centerpieces. I plan to bring them on carry-on and my friends and family members are willing to help carry them on as well in their carry-ons since I will be taking about 6 sets of centerpieces. It's a 4 hour plane ride so it's not like they are traveling for that long and as long as we secure them well and pack carefully, they should make it ok. that's the plan!
  5. Love all of this! My color scheme is orange, with accents of gold and aqua. Here is a pic of my DIY centerpiece. Now I just need to get the table runner to complete the look and maybe napkins. soo much to do!
  6. I am curious to know the interest in this idea, thanks for your input!! The question is: Would you make purchases through a website that sold premium alcohol for your open bar, centerpieces, floral arrangements, beach themed and traditional decor, printed items like brochures and menus etc.? This online store would allow you to order the items you need and they would be delivered to your resort/hotel when you arrive to the Dominican Republic, normally 2-3 days before your wedding day.
  7. Here are my DIY centerpieces. My main color is tangerine...the flowers and marbles I got from Michaels and the vases from Amazon. Oh and inside each vase I am putting submersible LED lights in an amber color to light them up, will post pics of them lit up when I have them!
  8. Here is the logo I made in Word and used for my invitations and will be using for my OOT bag tags and brochures I made a few different color schemes as seen here with the orange and yellow and Green.
  9. Hey brides! Did any of you plan to take a table runner for the reception dinner or for those brides that have gotten married, did you use a table runner? what are the table sizes that the resort uses? long tables or round?
  10. Natalie, thanks for your review! Do you have pictures that you can show, or when you do, can you show them? thanks
  11. Love all your stuff, i am doing the same type of centerpieces, they look awesome congrats.
  12. We are moving to the Royal Turquesa after the wedding for about 2 days then going to the Majestic Colonial for about 5 days for the honeymoon. I have been to this resort last year and think I would want a change of scenery so that is why we are deciding to honeymoon at the Majestic.
  13. richarsd, I am patiently awaiting your review!! Can't wait to hear all the details :)
  14. Are you willing to share the templates for the guest brochure?? It is amazing along with everything else !!!!
  15. richarsd: did you mail any items to Caroline beforehand like decor or favors? any other brides do that???
  16. This dress is very elegant and sexy at the same time, love it!!
  17. This is a question for everyone, past and future brides. What is your plan for transporting OOT bags, decor, favors, etc. in your luggage? How many bags are you taking? Are you paying extra airline fees for extra bags? For the past brides, how did you manage and what would you say worked best and would not recommend doing? With OOT bags, OOT contents, brochures and a few other items I plan on bringing, I need to start coming up with some plan to pack them well and perhaps have family members help take a suitcase if needed. I plan on bringing, OOT bags, brochures, raffia fans, and possibly creating my own centerpieces with vases and submersible LED lights, but if it will be too much of a hassle i won't bother with the centerpieces. still undecided!
