  1. Hi Heather, all the Palaces seem beautiful....don't think you can miss with any of them. This site has lots of great resources--I'd recommend checking the wedding reviews section to see if anyone has reviewed them. Good luck!
  2. Welcome and congrats! All the Riviera Maya info on here is great and very helpful! Good luck with planning. =)
  3. Caitlin, I keep hearing great things about Iberostar. I'm sure you'll have a great time there! We are very undecided about resorts right now. We really like Barcelo Maya Beach, Sandos Playacar, and Gran Caribe Real, but it's just all so much info to sort through! I can't wait til we get something booked...well, one of these days. I'm hoping that after booking, we can take a bit of a wedding planning breather (except I won't stop looking at wedding dresses until the wedding day itself, probably)...
  4. My Fi and I are trying to narrow down our resort options in Riviera Maya/Cancun. We'd ideally like to have the ceremony and reception off of the beach, if we can (I know, we're weird). =) Sandos Playacar is one of our top choices, but I haven't been able to see pictures of the restaurants or if there's a gazebo, or ballrooms for reception or ceremony. Does anyone have pics? You can post them or email me: [email protected] Thanks so much!
  5. Congrats and welcome! Lots of great resources here! Grand Riviera Princess looks lovely.
  6. Hi Jodie, that sounds great! All the Rius seem very nice. Good luck with wedding planning, and I hope you enjoy the forum!

    Hello All

Hi and welcome! This forum is a great resource and everyone here is very helpful!
  8. Congrats and welcome! We're also looking in Cancun and surrounding areas. It can definitely be overwhelming. You should check out the Cancun/Riviera Maya section on here. There are some great maps in sticky notes, which helped us get started. We also have a travel agent, which can be a good way to go if you want some extra guidance.

    Hi!

Riu Ochos Rios is a beautiful resort! Congrats and welcome!
  10. Congrats on your wedding planning and welcome. I'd second the thought of narrowing down to a list of several resorts--it's pretty easy to find out which ones are adult-only vs. family friendly. The good news is that our TA tells us that family friendly resorts are usually more budget-friendly too. =) Good luck!
  11. I love Jamaica--that will be great! This forum is full of helpful people with lots of ideas!
  12. Welcome to the forum! Good luck with all your planning!
  13. Welcome and congrats on the house!
  14. Yes, I'd love to hear more! It's one that we're considering. You should post a review. =) How was the WC there? Responsive? Welcome!
  15. Caitlin, we're date twins! =) It's so exciting that you have a resort booked already! How did you decide on it?
  16. Welcome! I'm a newbie too, but I've already found lots of helpful people on here! Where in Russia will the wedding be?
  17. We will get married on November 11, 2011, but we're still in the process of choosing a resort. We're probably inviting around 80-90 people with no idea of how many are coming. After lots of planning complications, we decided to fly in our own rabbi and priest, so we can have a joint ceremony. Unlike most folks, we'd rather do an indoor (or at least covered, off the beach) ceremony and reception. We figure we'll get plenty of gorgeous beach time during the rest of our stay in Mexico. =) I mentioned this on in the newbie area, but the resorts we're considering are: Gran Caribe Real Sandos Playacar/Caracol Eco Resort/Riviera Beach Barcelo Maya Beach/Costa Cancun/Tucancun Beach Dreams Cancun/Riviera Cancun/Tulum/Puerto Aventuras If anyone has thoughts on these, let me know!
  18. Okay, I searched around and didn't see one of these...apologies if I missed one. I thought it would be great to have a thread for those planning on getting married in Nov. 2011. So post your dates and locations and anything else! I'm sure there will be more November 2011 people in a few months, but there must be a few of us on here now!

    Hi

Welcome rsidman, I look forward to many more wonderful posts from you on the forum. Your wedding plans sound great; I might just tag along! ;-)
  20. Just wanted to say hi! November 2011 here! We're looking at Riviera Maya or Cancun. When my fiance proposed in February, I figured we'd get married Spring 2011. But once we decided on destination, we knew we wanted a colder time of year. And since we're having *both* a rabbi and a priest, we needed time to get all our ducks in a row. Anyhow, it feels super far away now, but we're going to try to get the resort chosen soon so we can take a load off for awhile. =)
  21. Great to hear everyone's stories about their experiences! I'm super excited because my fiance and I just agreed that I can get lasik before the wedding and so I may as well do sooner rather than later! So I'm gonna try to set up a consult very soon. I've had glasses since I was around 8 years old, so the idea of waking up able to see just blows me away. One question: my eyes are pretty light sensitive now, did any of you with sensitive eyes before the surgery have a lot of problems with that afterward?
  22. Hi Jenn, I'm a newbie too, and my fiance and I are planning for the second weekend in November 2011 in Riviera Maya or Cancun! I just had to say hello! Also, I'm glad to see another November 2011 around here--people keep acting like we're crazy to be planning so far out, but I think Nov. will be a great time to be in Mexico. =)
  23. Thanks for the welcome tweets.13 and brandonsbride! The forum seems great; lots of very helpful people! tweets.13, I totally know what you mean about it being overwhelming sometimes-- we actually started making a spreadsheet to compare resorts, and I'm *really* not the spreadsheet type (semi-Excel illiterate). But I know that it will all be worth it when my fiance and I are lounging on the beach, drink in hand, and married! =)
  24. Hi all, My name is Kami and I'm getting married 11/11/11 somewhere in Riviera Maya or Cancun. I've been lurking on hear reading everyone's great comments for awhile. We're trying to pick a resort now. If anyone has thoughts on which one of these would be best, I'd love to hear! Gran Caribe Real Sandos Playacar/Caracol Eco Resort/Riviera Beach Barcelo Maya Beach/Costa Cancun/Tucancun Beach Dreams Cancun/Riviera Cancun/Tulum/Puerto Aventuras Hope you're all having a great day, Kami
