  2. BelindaChu, your wedding looks like it was beautiful! Congratulations!! I am also doing fushia and orange for colors. Did you pick your flowers and what they looked like, or did you just give them the colors and they made them up? I also sent you a PM about maybe sending me some more pictures. I'm so excited now, I have just over a month to go until mine!
  3. The package prices are different for each resort. I know the package at the Bavaro was about $300 more than the packages at the Punta Cana or the Dominicana. We are hoping to try to get upgraded to the Grand at the end of our trip, but opted not to have the wedding there because it was so much more expensive for us (and more importantly, our guests) to stay there. I think I still have the prices of the extras for the Bavaro, I'll try to find them and email them to you!
  4. Yes, you can make your hair appt. thru Santa - I just contacted her about mine last week for our April 8 wedding. I didn't know you had to book that far in advance, I was just trying to cross another thing off my to-do list!
  5. I'm having trouble deciding what to get my bridesmaids and hoping for some help! I am having my destination wedding in Punta Cana in April, and my only two maids have taken on throwing me a bridal shower and a personal shower in addition to paying for their trip, dress, and shoes. Needless to say, i'd like to get them something nice! Here are my ideas so far: Option A) One bigger gift - ideas include: - A small black or silver Coach purse (approx $150) - something they can use on the trip, the wedding day, and again anytime after. - A Kindle - Bose earbuds and a $50 itunes gift card (big into working out) Option A personalized beach bag ( http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/Weddings/Ultimate-Beach-Bag ) filled with several smaller things such as: - bridesmaid wine glass and bottle of wine - Bath and Body Works type lotions - silver starfish bookmark - insulated mug and flip flops for trip - and whatever else I think of! Would you preferWouldWoWWould you prefer one bigger gift or the beach bag with several smaller gifts? Either way I will be giving them to them before we leave. Any suggestions for bigger or smaller gifts are also welcome!!
  6. I received an email today from the new wedding coordinator, Santa. She (or he?) confirmed that our renewal of vows ceremony is set for April 8th at 4:30pm on the beach...perfect!
  7. We are getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro in April. We also picked it because kids are allowed and because it offered different levels of service people wanted to spend more or less money. I've been to Iberostars, Rius, and Sunscape the Beach (which is now Dreams Punta Cana) - so far the Iberostars have definitely had the best service and overall experience for me! I know for us, flying from Iowa/Illinois, February and March were definitely going to be high season and more expensive with spring break, etc., so that's why we chose April. Good luck on your decision!
  8. I was (am) concerned as well! My wedding is 4/8/11 in Punta Cana, and we are getting ready to order our invitations with wedding/AHR info in the next few weeks....aaagh! I contacted our travel agent today and she did some research on it, she basically said the same as what Krys said above - not to worry yet, but just to keep an eye on the situation to make sure the number of cases doesn't start jumping. For now I think we are going to just watch and wait with our fingers crossed....although I may start looking for possible backup plans just in case it becomes necessary.
  9. For some reason it cut my words off my previous message - but Bride KSmith, your dress will be great! My dress is not one I pictured for the beach, nor what I thought I was looking for - but I gave in and got what I really wanted and can't wait to wear it! Who cares if it isn't a destination dress - you'll look fabulous!
  10. Quote:Originally Posted by Bride KSmith Here is my dress. I am so unsure about it. When I originally purchased it we were getting married in the spring in a garden behind a cute historic southern mini-mansion here in Georgia. Now I just dont think it will work with the vibe we will have in Cancun.
  11. Thanks for all your opinions, ladies. I loved both dresses, and actually almost had myself talked into Brianna because I thought it was more beach appropriate...but when I went back to try them both on, I couldn't say no to Jenna...especially after the sales person the second time around clipped it better to where it actually looked like it fit me. So, I ordered Jenna and am eagerly awaiting her arrival...eeeek!
  12. We are actually doing a renewal of vows ceremony and doing the paperwork part of the wedding here in the states to avoid some of the extra costs. Since we are doing the renewal, we were able to already pick a time. And we did not give a deposit, they don't require one (they may not even accept them). I just set a date via email.
  13. FI and I are getting married on the beach. I am in the middle of trying to pick out bridesmaid dresses, and am suddenly concerned about shoes. I was planning on picking out short dresses for them, but am wondering if some sort of flip-flop will be okay with a short "tradtional" bridesmaid dress? I don't want to make them buy heels AND flip flops in addition to their dress, so I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are on the whole shoes issue. What are your bridesmaids wearing on their feet?
  14. Ladies! I'm having a tough time choosing what colors I want to use. I was originally thinking fuschia and tangerine - which I still love. But I have also considered turquoise (or aqua) and lime green, or turquoise and tangerine. Â I think I am defintely leaning toward the fuschia/tangerine or the turquoise/tangerine, mostly because they give more options for flowers. I'm driving myself nuts here...help!
  15. We are doing it all the same place. We are staying at the Iberostar Bavaro for 13 days, arriving on a Tuesday and the wedding is on the first Friday. Most of our guests will be gone by the following Tuesday, so we will have the last 5 days or so to ourselves.
  16. My fiance proposed on December 24, 2009...and boy was I surprised! He had told me early on in our relationship that when he proposed, it would NOT be on a holiday - he wanted it to be a day that was just for us and a day that I would not be expecting it. Fast forward to Christmas Eve of 2009... Â We wwork night shift, and had gotten up early because we were having all of my family over for dinner. Unbeknownst to me, Jed was preparing for his proposal while I was in the shower. When I got out of the shower, I threw on my robe and heard Jed say "hey, will you come in here for a minute?". I walked into our bedroom to find Jed down on one knee! He was in a dress shirt and tie, and had "our" song playing in the background. On our bed sat the ring, and he had "Will You Marry Me" spelled out on the bed with my favorite truffles. I started crying before he ever spoke a word! He gave a short but very sweet and sincere proposal speech, and I couldn't wait to say yes! I was so busy crying, I didn't even realize that the truffles spelled out "Will you marry me" until he showed me the pictures afterward. LOL Â Once I finally calmed down, I asked him what happened to the whole notion of "not on a holiday". It turned out that it just worked out that he found the right diamond a little over a week before Christmas, and he asked how fast they could have it mounted into the setting and they told him it would be ready by the 22nd or 23rd. He went to pick it up on the 23rd, and they told him it wouldn't be ready until the 24th. He considered waiting until after Christmas, but decided he couldn't wait that long - and besides, "Christmas Eve isn't officially a holiday!"...lol. I was so surprised by it all but I don't think I've ever been as happy as I was that day!
  17. Ishy, I haven't seen Chardonnay in the stores I went to - but I can tell you that the dress I ordered, the Jenna, also looks waaaay poofier on the Maggie website than what it was when I tried it on. I'm guessing it's a combination of a bigger crinoline/hoop skirt and/or the fact that they have the dresses laid out so perfectly in the photos. I really wasn't a fan of Jenna on the Maggie site, but LOVED it when I saw it in person and tried it on without anything underneath it. So if you really like it, I would for sure hunt it down - I definitely think you can have it less poofy if that's what you want!
  18. What a great idea! I will need approx 10-15 fuschia sashes and 10-15 orange sashes for the first week of April in 2011 if anyone has any available! Would also possibly be interested in tablecloths or overlays. Thanks!
  19. terilina - I got pricing information from the Bavaro's wedding coordinator. I know the wedding packages at the Punta Cana are slightly cheaper than the Bavaro, but i don't know if the photography packages are the same price or if those are different as well. The photo prices I was given was 45 photos (6x8, printed or on cd) for $400, 90 6x8 photos and 2 12x18 photos (printed or on cd) for $750, 120 6x8 photos and 3 12x18 photos (printed or on cd) for $1000. There are also bigger packages that included digital books, etc. if you'd like me to send you that information. I also have Nicola Bisogni's email address. Â Do you have pricing information for HDC just so I can compare the two? We had looked at photosouvenir but decided we don't think we want to spend quite that much money....
  20. Well, I was able to manage to get both dresses to the same store so I could try them on side by side. I went to the store totally thinking I was going to go with the Brianna (no ruffles), but just couldn't walk away from the Jenna...so Jenna and the ruffles it is! My friend, sister, and both sales people agreed with me that that we think that is the one....including my friend who was originally in favor of the other dress before she saw it in person. I'm going to get measured and order it tomorrow....eeeek!
  21. We booked our trip two weeks ago for our wedding on April 8th. We researched prices through funjet.com and applevacations.com before we went to the travel agent, and it turned out that the funjet prices were slightly cheaper. The travel agent explained to us that the prices will be most expensive now since the trip is still 8 months out, but they will eventually go down some as the trip gets closer. The travel agent ended up booking our trip through funjet because of the cheaper price, AND funjet has better insurance so it will be easier for us to get the trip for cheaper as the price goes down. Â Prices vary both on how long you go for AND can vary depending on which day you leave, plus whether you do a non-stop flight or a flight with one connection. In looking at prices for our guests that the cheapest prices were flying down to PC on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. We are going for 13 days....our trip for the flight, hotel, tax and insurance for both of us came to $4899, not bad at all considering the price is still at it's highest and we are going for just shy of two weeks!
  22. I've also been in touch with their resort photographer, and ended up having to add him as a facebook friend so I can look at some of his photos. Once he accepted my friend request, their were 90 to 100 pictures you can see in his photo albums of different kinds of wedding shots he's done.
  23. Ladies, I need your help before I make myself crazy! Attached are pictures of two dresses. The Brianna dress is the dress that remained my favorite throught out try-ons at several stores...it looks a little more beachy than Jenna, and looks a little more like 'me'. The Jenna dress has the fun ruffles but is a little puffier than what I was planning on...but it is also the dress that made me say "omg, I think this is it!" - I almost had to fight back tears when I went into the dressing room to take it off. I know I should probably just buy the OMG dress, but I think I'm just having trouble pulling the trigger on ordering it since the dress is such a big part of the wedding. Crazy, huh?! These arent the best pictures, and neither dress was in my size....but which one do you like better? Brianna Jenna
  24. They are beautiful, please do share her information!
  25. I had actually thought of doing the same thing (but different)...I'm leaning toward orange/fuschia for colors and was planning on orange dresses, but a lot of the dresses I like don't come in a true orange color. I had thought of doing short black dresses, and then accenting with orange/fuschia flowers etc. My fiance isn't so sure about it, he thinks the black won't fit in on the beach...but I think it would be very contrasting/dramatic. I like your white dresses though!
