Welcome to the thread new October brides! OMG so much more to do! FI has been awesome though.....working on projects in the evening when I'm at work ie:cd labels, keycard holders etc. The other night I came home and there was a big sign on the computer room door (spare bedroom with computer, really) with our wedding monogram and in big bold letters "Mission Control" (in my colors) under the monogram. I laughed so hard but I also think it was a little message......"chill out" maybe? I'm leaving it there to remind myself that this ISN'T a NASA mission and I'm not the Commander!! LOL somedays I just have to laugh at myself.....what will we do when this is over. I did get my embroidered towels that I ordered from cotton-fruit. They look awesome! Very happy with them. Payed for the better quality towel and a little extra to increase the size of the embroidery but I love them. Will post them when I figure out how.

I got my travel agent thru this site and it's working out great. You absolutely do not need to sit face to face.....heck you don't even need to speak. I have dealt with everything through email....which works best for me with my work schedule and home life. I'm working with Jill from SunandSand (opps SandandSun maybe, sorry Jill). I recently saw a post here of a new agent in Canada if that makes a difference. If you find them on here you know they have experience with destination weddings, not all travel agents do!

I haven't got into that search yet but I'm thinking of it. I'm still mulling over the sunset cruise because it is really a great activity for all ages. Timing isn't working out. I don't want to book up all the days for my guests. I'm still really trying to come up with something fun for all ages.....any suggestions, girls?? On average Jacy answers an email within a week or so. My frustration is she doesn't always answer all of my questions. I just rephrase them and she responds in that general time frame....LOL!

If the restaurant is set to open for dinner the day of your wedding, you need to find a different location. We really would like to have the reception in El Patio (Mexican Restaurant), but if we can’t have it there we liked the idea of having it by the adult pool but our only concern is that it may get cold at night in January. We decided that we would like the DJ for the reception and she said that we can send her a playlist of all the songs we would like to hear about a month before and she will forward it to the DJ. She said to include the first dance song, father/daughter song, mother /son song on the list too. If some guests start requesting songs that the DJ doesn’t have, she said that’s not a problem bc he will download the songs right on the spot. I talked to her about bouquets bc I didn’t really like the options that the resort offers, but she said that we can send pictures to her and she will forward them to the florist to see if they are able to make bouquets similar to the pictures . If this is something you are interested in then you should do this at least a month before. You can also send pictures of cakes that you like to and she will see if it’s possible to get something close to the picture. About a month before the wedding you need to send a list of all the guests and when they are set to arrive, this makes me think that they welcome the guests with drinks maybe? ( When we checked in we were not welcomed with drinks, it doesn’t seem to be the norm.) As far as OOT bags, you can give her all of the OOT bags when you get there and she will deliver them to the guests the second day they are there. She said they do it on the second day because the first day is normally when people will change rooms if they need to. She made us feel very comfortable. We just got the overall impression that no request is crazy. If there is something that you want for your wedding or reception, just ask and she will do everything in her power to make it happen. There is no need to worry or stress about our weddings at DPA (even though we all will haha) because it will turn out wonderful!!! Thanks so much for the info....awesome to hear you loved it!

I'm hiring a DJ on my own, not using hotel DJ. He provided me with a sample of his music (lot of stuff) but told me if I want to give him a play list he would do that too! My suggestion is to give him an idea of the type of music your crowd like and do like. As a back up have some of your favorites on your ipod, ready to go!!!
