it's a pre-celebration for the couple . . .I think it's a good idea for destination weddings because it gives those people a chance who aren't able to make it to come out and celebrate with you before your big day (that is of course you aren't having an AHR)

A Stag and Doe is also known as a Jack and Jill. Â It is a party where usually (which i've seen many times in the past) the wedding party throws this party for the couple getting married. They usually rent a hall, have a bar, play a few games. Everyone who comes pays an entry fee of usually $10 each or 2 for $15. There are raffles and prizes. Some Jack and Jill's have a table set up to bid on prizes like a silent auction. Â Just a get together. At the end of the night, the wedding party gets back all their money back for what they put out and anything left over is given to the bride and groom to go towards their wedding. Â

I have said that to my FI so many times lol - especially when my hair doesnt go my way!! I don't think I could ever do it - unless it was for charity!! It will grow back. I'm not sure though - maybe yes, maybe no  Would you ever change your destination wedding to an at home ceremony because most of the family wasn't able to attend? (even if your dream was to get married on the beach)

I hear ya on this - I however have been to NUMEROUS showers for family members that I didn't even know - but it was proper etiquette to attend. Those people are DEFINENTLY invited LOL - if they don't want to attend your shower they don't have too - that's why there is an RSVP. Â A friend of mine is having an issue like this but its with respect to a Jack and Jill and she is also having a destination wedding. Some of her family members (sister-in-law to be particular) is telling her that there is no reason for her to have a jack and jill . . im on the fence on this idea. But I'm all for the shower! It's a great way to "update" the old with the new
