Hey ladies - My wedding date is quickly approaching, Dec. 11th, but we leave on the 6th. We recently changed our package to the 2011 Aqua package for the simple fact that it include open bar and we refused to not have open bar for our cocktail hour and entire reception. That was one of the things we felt we had to have, both of our families and friends are big drinkers. We had our planning call with Lauren, who works outside of PPC, but has helped us with all the preparations leading up to our travel dates, then we meet with the WC's when we get to PPC. In the end the change actually saves us $65, which is kind of funny. We are planning to do the Beach BBQ for our Welcome Dinner on Friday night, which will be like our rehearsal dinner. As I was reading through here I saw a post about lighting - the strand of lanterns is ridiculous, $300 or what ever, that's just stupid, but I thought I say someone post that we are not allowed to bring our own lighting? Is that correct? We were thinking of bringing strands of Christmas lights to hang around the pool since it will be dark out there? Thanks ladies and good luck with all the planning. Nichole

There is a company called ask me inc. which works with various Caribbean resorts, they have English speaking employees and they aren't the easiest to work with either. I think in general if people aren't up front about EVERY thing they it's going to be a difficult situation. The person we worked with at Ask Me, returned emails with in 24 hours and was helpful, but as time passes we're noticing that they aren't up front about every thing and I don't know if that's the fault of ask me or the resort, but it's frustrating. What I don't understand is how resorts who deal with weddings constantly are so all over the place? It's not like all of us brides are asking different questions. We're pretty much asking the same crap over and over again, you'd think they'd have it figured out better than they do. But what do I know. Let's move to the DR and start a company to help future brides!

Hey fellow December Brides. We're getting married on Dec. 11 at Paradisus Punta Cana, we've booked our room and flights and we've had 6 couples book so far. We sent website STD's out in March. Our invitation are planned to be mailed some time next week, (fingers crossed) we decided to send them early to remind people to start booking and give them a deadline. I found my dress about a month ago and that's really where we are. We're still working on a photographer, but for now we're holding off on a lot of the remaining planning until we have a better idea of how many people are going. The numbers have changed drastically from when we first started telling people about a DW, now people who were all about it and saying they won't make it because the time of year is bad from them...we've finally reached the point that no time of year works for anyone so oh well. I can't help but wonder why people get so selfish about weddings. It's been very interesting so far to see who's supportive and helpful and who complains and makes things more complicated... Good luck brides, hope you're enjoying the journey.

I need help ladies - I went dress shopping 2 now. Once with my BM and once with my mother, sister (MOH) and BM again. The 1st time with BM I found a dress that I just fell in love with - then we went shopping again and we found a 2nd dress - now I'm having a hard time deciding and was hoping some of you amazing ladies could give me some of your feedback. The 1st dress is the one I fell in love with originally - it's an ivory silk organza dress with incredible details. The ribbon on it can be any color I want including ivory so it blends in with the dress. The 2nd dress is from David's Bridal and is a beautiful chiffon dress perfect for my full-figured body. I love the beading detail on the back of the dress. I wasn't able to try the 1st dress which is a concern, but I love the color and details of it. The 2nd dress I know will fit me perfectly and will look beautiful but I keep going back to the 1st one. Any and all feed back would help. My FI and I are torn on this subject, neither of us are big dancers. We're planning to do the traditional 1st dance, mother/son and father/daughter because we think it's important to our parents, but after than we're probably done dancing for the night. However, I'm sure their will be people who want to dance. We're not planning to spend the extra money for the dance floor or to have a DJ because for us, we'd rather spend that money else where. But we will have music playing from our iPod and we're thinking about bringing in the fire dancers. We are huge card players. We love poker, rummy and what not, so we're considering setting up a few games after dinner and people can dance if they want, but there will be card games too. Plus there's also a nice midnight swim if we get too bored I think if you have a great group of people they will make sure they are having fun no matter what you plan.

Welcome to the forum, I'm getting married in Punta Cana in December, I recommend starting with the Dominican Republic section - most of the resorts have their own section and you can find pictures and info with in them. It's great...good luck.
