  5. NaM- you are right... kinda wished I had of found this forum first before booking with DW. Not that they have been bad or anything but it looks like it would have been easier if I had of just went directly through Palace instead ... oh well! I dont see why it makes a difference on who you book with... as long as you are bringing business to the resort in general, I would think it shouldnt matter if you have a contract or not (IMO). At least today one of my friends said she is going to book this weekend! Yeahhhh!

Recent frustration: We booked our trip through Destination Weddings, and the deadline to book rooms at the group rate is February 1st. So far only our family has booked, out of 40 people who say they are going to! I feel like I'm turning into this crazy person harassing all my friends to book their rooms, but they all say they are definitely coming, but they are "waiting." For what? I don't know. Did anyone else experience this problem? Hey there! I'm going through Destination Weddings as well and know what you mean about stressing over people booking. We are getting married on June 26th and we are able to drop rooms until the end of April without any penalty. We are the only people that have booked so far. If it comes down to it I will drop the rooms if no one books by the deadline (I dont want to be out anymore money than I have too!) It would be nice if people book through DW so that way we can get a free cocktail reception!

I just got my quote for that this week. Also ladies be aware if you plan on getting flowers from the hotel- you can't take live flowers out of the country- they will stop you at the airports. If you smuggle them in and get caught in customs is a HUGE fine and they put you on a watch list (I am a flight attendant out of JFK airport in NYC). If you want someone who does pretty bouquets that you can keep try here. Realistic Silk Wedding Flowers, Natural Touch and Silk Bridal Bouquets Thanks again for all your help! I can't believe I am only 50 days away! EEEKKK Thank you for the link! I'm thinking about doing real touch flowers. One bride from Aventura Spa said that her real flowers stained her dress and she wished that she got real touch instead. Just thought I would let you guys know...
  8. Awwwh! I love the comments on here. I know at times I neglect my man (like being on here vs spending time with him) so it helps to step back and reset! Now it's time for nookie

But come to think of it, I suppose I'm at the beginning of this yellow brick road, I'll have at least one spaz a day once the real planning starts. $20 for 1 flower!!! On the freekin' equator EVEN! I'd sooner steal the tulips off my neighbors lawn and wax preserve them. The nerve. And yes, the "special gift"...let me guess, a bottle of your cheapest swill and 2 pieces of fruit from the local market. ...And way to steal the thunder Kittenheart! I feel bad for the poor girl, but that is pretty darn funny. ...amygirl, my fiance well knows negotiating is not one of my finer points. I'd go berserkers on a builder. I picked a hubby that negotiates for a living, so he'd handle that end. Marak - This is great! You are a wonderful writer (sex in the city style!)... About the flowers that is sooo true. My FMIL suggested that I scope the resort out before the wedding and grab some flowers from their garden (LOL)! I might just do that

But I definitely changed my mind after I found a lady out of Florida, who did an amazing job with "natural touch" flowers - which I researched thoroughly - they are the most natural looking ones out there. She sent them via mail, very professional and helpful every step of the way. Everyone complimented our bouquets, and had no clue only mine was real. I have some pictures of the bouquets and this lady will work with your budget. I ended up paying $25.00 a bouquet (3 bridesmaids) and the flowers were beautiful. A side note - my REAL bouquet stained my dress...lol...I sincerely regretted not getting a bouquet of my own in "natural touch" after it was all said and done. The girls also got to keep their flowers as a memory/favor...I don't have mine and i had stains on my dress. Final score- Natural Touch: 2 Real flowers:0 :-)) (PM me for photos - the site is asking me to downsize them significantly and you will not see how beautiful the flowers really are) Raluca, thank you and that is good to know about the real flowers staining your dress. I actually have been looking at possibly doing real touch flowers so I would love to get some info so I will send you a PM. Thanks for your help!

To be honest I am starting to regret my decision for the price we are paying. Since your friend got married at Moon Palace, have you tried to talk with her to see how her experience was. Also did she work with another coordinator? I know you might have already tried this but have you contact the main office to voice your concern? Maybe they can assign you to another onsite coordinator that is more attentive since they should have more than one. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!
  17. I've been looking for this thread.... thank you so much! (saving to favorites) :-)
  18. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There is tons of information about resorts in Cabo on this forum. Happy Planning!
  19. Great job on the STD, right to the point and inexpensive! My best friend got married this past June and I have no clue where her STD and invitation that she sent me is at (plus we have moved since then). With that being said we have also decided to not spend a lot of money on invitation, etc...
  20. Congrats and welcome to the forum! There is tons of info about Mexico on here and the good thing is that time is on your side :-) Happy Planning!
  21. We are staying at the same resort (Aventura Spa Palace) and will be there for 10 nights. We arrive on Tuesday 6/22 and leave on 7/2... most of the people will leave on Sunday or Monday so we will still have time to ourselves. I think my FI mom and step dad plan to leave on Tuesday but that is okay with me. Even when we were in Cozumel this past September we hung out with other couples (vacation is funnier if you have people to hang out with... IMO)
  22. Hi Mike, it is great to see guys on here! Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Check out the Riviera Maya and Mexico links on the main page for some info. Also believe there are some Riu threads. Other resorts that seem to be popular are Palace resorts (where we are getting married - Aventura Spa) and Dream resorts. Happy Planning!
  23. Thanks Bella and I love your comment. I do agree with you that we have to appreciate our men (or women)! :-)
