Does anyone know how long it takes from the time you order to the moment you receive it? Our wedding isn't to far away and I don't want to rely on something that won't make it here on time. I ordered my FI's suit on 1/31/10 and I just received notice that the suit was shipped yesterday!! I can't wait to see it.

  4. Hey!! So happy to see your review!!! Congrats!!! So sorry about the trouble with Delta...thankfully you more than made up for with what sounds like an amazing wedding. I can't wait to see your pics!!

Oooh...your invites are gorgeous!!! This is the wording that I wanted to use...but...FMIL will not go for it. It seems that there was a mini-incident when her other son got married last year and my future SIL only included her parents on the invite!! I think I'm going to use the wording I stated above...can't find much else. Also...thank you ladies!!
  6. Thank you both....I will definitely check out Mr.Lyons. I never really thought about it until this week...but the more I think of it...the more I like the idea!!
  7. Hi, I am working on the wording of my invites. It's a little complicated since my parents are divorced and my FI's mother and "REAL" father(many do not know) never married AND his Mom is a widow. I would have loved to keep everyone off of the invites to avoid complications, but my FI's Mom wants here name on the invite. So...any ideas? Also...since his mother is a widow...is she a Mrs. or a Ms. or no salutation at all? I was thinking of saying the following: Danielle _____ & John _______ Together with their parents Jane Smith & David Smith Mrs. Lucy Johnson & John Williams I don't know....not sure if I like this....any suggestions?
  8. Hi, We've pretty much decided that we are going to use a steel pan one man band for our cocktail hour and a DJ for the remainder of the reception. I thought about using a flutist for the wedding ceremony, but now I am re-thinking this and considering using the steel pan band for the ceremony too. Has anyone done this? If so, how did it turn out. Also, is there any resource for what songs they could play for my bridal walk, processional, etc.? Thanks.

Every time I email with a question it takes minimum 5 days to get an answer, usually it's over a week....and that’s when he is actually IN the office. I get an "out of office reply" just about every time I email... Is this normal? Does everyone else have this same issue with responses? Like I said, it may turn out perfect, but I need instant gratification when I email Let me know if this is the norm. Yep...the norm. That's why I call. It was costing me a fortune, but I just purchased a international phone card for $5 and the calls cost a few coins. It really used to bug me when folks would not get back to me....especially considering all of teh money that is being spent.
  10. Timberly!!! You've done an amazing job!!! I'm telling you...as someone else has said...you have really set the bar high for the rest of us!! Your attention to detail is obvious and you have really and truly thought of everything. Your guests will have a ball. Much love and happiness and btw...your little sweetie-pie is just too cute for herself!!! Here's hoping that you have the wedding day and life of your dreams!!

  14. You lucky duck...her work is AMAZING!!! I'm telling you...I saw one bride's Elizabeth Medina slideshow here and I all but cried.
  15. Hi Ladies, I don't know what is wrong with me. I should have thought of this MONTHS earlier. I would have saved a couple of hundred dollars to be sure. I have been racking up quite a phone bill calling the Bahamas trying to plan my wedding. Well, it finally occurred to me to just get an international calling card from one of the local "bodegas"..small corner stores....here in NYC. I did this years ago for another purpose and I was able to make many international calls at a fraction of the cost. In any event, I purchased two $5 cards. I just made at least 5 calls on one card just now...only able to speak to two people... and I still have $4.02 cents left!!! Bottom line...when I started, I was told that I could talk just over THREE HOURS to the Bahamas for my lousy $5. Just wanted to post this in case any other brides like me forgot that it might be cheaper to simply purchase an international calling card from a neighborhood store.

I sent out my STD's at the start of November for my July, 2010 wedding and am going to send out invites the first week in March and was going to give my guests until the end of May to RSVP. I might just move that up to mid-May.

  18. Thank you ladies...we measured FI ourselves. One thing that I didn't realize until I placed my order is that you do not have to order a custom suit...you can just order one in his regular size...no fuss...no muss. However, we opted to order the suit custom. I'm going to see how his turns out and then if we like it, we will order the rest of the groomsmen's suits from here. We also ordered the $30 linen shirt. Has anyone else order this shirt? If so...did you like it?
  19. Ladies....did you take your FI's measurements are did you go to a professional tailor. Autumn...your pictures are gorgeous!!

I had mind buffed after 3 years and its all nice and shiny again. Platinum is chosen often because of its durability. Caroline24 at least the store is willing to do it for you for free. Can you imagine having to pay each time you had to have it dipped!?! I agree...I have never heard of a platinum ring that had to be dipped.....buffed...yes...but dipped...no. I have a 18K white gold ring and so far...so good...but from what I hear...expect to dip over the years.

So, point being you can definitely get what you want without spending a ton. Good luck deciding on your invites, I'm sure they'll be fabulous! Thanks girls! Not trying to hijack this thread, but here's the link to the thread I posted with them in case anyone wants more info. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...tes-out-50312/ Karen, I just feel that I am not much of a DIY girl. I'm gearing myself up for a few projects...but don't think I have it in me to deal with the invites!! Pathetic huh? LOL Anyway...I just love your invites and if they wound up costing you around $4 per with some imput by you..all the better.

Thought I was all set...and then the confirmation came back last night with a later ship date than I thought...I may go to one of these sales as a back-up!!
