  1. Welcome Rachel! You're right- starting your planning is really exciting! I'm sure you'll have a blast. We're getting married this coming April in Cuba as well- it's always nice to have more Cuba brides around here.
  2. I'm in the same boat, too. I think I'll send them out before Christmas- but I am worried about them getting lost with all of the Christmas cards and everything else like that. I'm just worried that later will be cutting it a bit close because the spots we've reserved for our guests' trips expire at the end of January and then people will be on their own as far as booking their stay. It's a toughy, for sure.
  3. I think so, yes, depending on the reason. If it was a creepy ex or something like that, then yes. Would you ever skinny dip?
  4. Like too much! Whole wheat bread?
  5. I have a FFIL law from hell- does that count at all? The man drives me and FI batty. He is completely self centred and his constant womanizing in the very small town FI grew up in made his adolescence a nightmare. I especially enjoyed his constant sexist comments whenever he visited our home before we moved away(which wasn't often, he's also a total deadbeat Dad). He sent FI a (cheap) T-shirt for Xmas last year, that's it- no thought or effort at all. He has had plenty of notice (I'm talking years- we've had a long engagement) about the fact that we're having a DW but expressed no interest in coming and saved not a penny for it, and now whines to family how hard it is on him that he wont be able to be there, blah blah. He has yet to man up and tell FI himself that he's not coming, though, I guess we were just supposed to find out when he RSVPed no? I am so relieved that he's not going to be there that I could dance, and I feel guilty about it.

But I guess that one shopping trip we did a few weeks ago gave me enough info to pick out something he'd want! Haha, and of course I made a gushy comment about "aww how cute is it that he picked out a ring for me and now I got to pick out a ring for him" just to rub it in a little bit!! Then of course he countered my comment that maybe its better I pick it out because after all, it is my way of saying "hey b*!ch he's mine - right?!" What a guy! Lol- that's hilarious! I'm so glad he found a ring he liked! My FI was looking at the different black ones, too- they've got a nice selection on their site. I'm so glad to hear this review is helping people out- thanks for the feedback everyone!
  7. I'm doing pretty well this week- I went to an Aquafit class last night to shake things up a bit and I may go tomorrow morning as well. I went for a nice walk with my friend and our dogs the other night, too. I plan to get on the eliptical tonight once FI gets home from work, and I just got a new exercise ball to do some crunches on. I'm not seeing much difference yet, but we'll see how it goes.
  8. I agree with everyone else, Suzy, be sure you take good care of yourself! Your health is the most important thing so I hope you're stomach heals up for you soon!

So for a week I'd pick like 3-4 bottoms, then maybe 9-10 shirts that could go with hopefully at least two bottoms so that I can still have a little bit of variety in what I mix and match. Add in a couple sundresses, a couple cover-ups, a couple sweaters and a whole heck of a lot of bathing suits!! And don't forget that I usually expect to buy the odd item down there too Packing for the wedding will be my challenge too because of the additional wedding wear, pretty rehearsal dinner wear etc. I'm such a casual person otherwise!! But the best part is that i've got this one dress that I bought like a year ago because I loved it even though I had nothing specific to wear it for. So I'm totally going to wear it for my rehearsal dinner. The thing I find hard is packing shoes! Flip flops are great because they don't take up too much room, but nicer sandals for the evening can be awkward. I always take too many pairs too. Other than that I do pretty well with packing- FI is a great packer too so that helps a lot.
  10. Have you tried youtube? It sounds silly, but I saw a clip of a makeup artist on there and she went through a whole wedding makeup application on her face, and gave really clear directions and tips for different types of products and brands- some of her products were high end and some were just drugstore brand. I can't get on youtube at work or I'd post it for you but there are probably quite a few clips like this on there.

There is no way for customs to track that. What a pain that must be! I'll be happy for all of you American folks if they ever do loosen up these restrictions for you, that's so crazy that you'd have to go through all of this just to take a trip to Cuba! Until then, I guess it's just more room at the beach for the rest of us!
  12. I hope they don't do temperature checks in Cuba, because I run slightly above normal and my brother does too. Just a weird metabolic quirk, but I wonder if they'd think we were sick- every time I've been to a doctor who isn't familiar with me (like an emergency room doc) they always think I have a "slight fever" until I let them know the difference.

I have enough to stress about! I agree- I'm not sure yet if I'll do centerpieces there but I know I'm not going to do them myself. I'm just not that crafty, honestly, and I'll have enough stuff to bring down there with me. I have thought about getting some flowers for the table at the ceremony and if they can be used at our reception as well then maybe I'll go for that. I've been MIA for a few days and had some pages to catch up on lol. Welcome to Jennywong and KPETT10! I've had one of those weeks at work where I just did not stop- no time for sneaking on to the forums. It seems to have slowed down a bit now, obviously
  14. Welcome! It's so nice to see another Cuba bride- and another April bride too! 21 people booked already is awesome- good for you!
  15. I totally get you here. It is one thing to complain to you about the wedding (although, please, if you don't like it just stay home) but quite another to be bad-mouthing it to other people like that ! On facebook, too, how tacky of her. Oh well, just keep picturing yourself in sunny Mexico in November while she's at home hopefully freezing her buns off and feeling bitter!

How are you going to pick out which ones you like best to send to people, because they're all so nice? Oh- and I love your boots, I have a pair a lot like those, same colour and everything. Congrats on the lovely engagment shots! Also- welcome tim-juleswed: it sounds like you've gotten a lot done in three weeks! Good job- everything should keep coming together for you and keep on not stressing!
