  1. We are booked for Jamaica! But please DO NOT USE Flight Centre!!! It has been an absolute nightmare to say the least!!! We were pushed into booking in June, now prices have gone down and they won't match!! They had said they would, but now they are refusing.
  2. OMG, you've described my brother in law! If we were getting married locally, I would be fine for an evening. But an AI is a whole week!! I don't want to dread my own wedding. I'm hoping my FI will have a chat with him and/or his mom to straighten things out. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
  3. Well, I'm starting to panic. Neither my FI, myself nor our friends can endure my FI's brother. I can barely stand him over Xmas dinner, let alone a week in Jamaica! He originally said he wasn't coming because his wife couldn't get the time off. Now he's pushing the MIL to hound me to give him the details to our wedding (I hadn't done this previously as he informed he would nto be attending). It's hard to tell the MIL that her son is the most annoying person on the face of the earth! Plus he got married last year and although we were invited, were other "shunned" from this wedding. My FI wasn't included in any pics. What do I do? How do I handle this?
  4. Thanks ames!! I didn't realize that. I looked at the confirmation info the RIU requires...I'm still unsure on my MOH. Do you know if I can add this information once I've decided?
  5. We just back from the BH on vacation and saw several weddings while we were there. They were absolutely beautiful and things seem to flow well. Happy planning!
  6. hi gals! We can't fly out of NB, we have to drive to Halifax, NS...the best price I've rec'd is $1775 txs in. We've reserved our wedding date directly with the RIU and have 90 days to confirm our trip. We need to book by June 5th if we don't want to lose our wedding date. We were also offered a one-time price guarantee. If the price lowers after you've booked, they will price match. My fiance's mother can't really afford to come, so we are going to give the free trip to her.
  7. Hi Hiccups and Ames: We are getting married in April 2011 and have had a hard time getting pricing from the TA's. I finally rec'd some yesterday...$1839 pp taxes in through Flight Centre (out of TO). I was told the best prices come out in June/July. Did anyone mention to you that after 10 people book, the 11th person's trip is free? You are only responsible for the taxes.
  8. Marie: I'm starting to plan our wedding. We are getting married at the ROR in April 2011 and are also flying out of Halifax. The rates I've received hover around $1800. If you don't mind me asking, is that approximately what your group will be paying? Thanks so much and all the best next week!
  9. We've always had excellent service when staying at at a RIU. We are getting married at the ROR in April!
  10. I received rates for the RIU in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. My TA had to make a special request to Sunquest. We are asking our guests to put down their own down payments. However, we have the option to block a group of rooms. If we choose to do this, we will put down a deposit for all rooms. If some rooms are not needed, the deposit balance will be transferred to our room.
  11. I was thinking of a beach party...not sure if that's an option though...
  12. We are going through the same thing with my mother. This will be my 2nd marraige and I promised myself I would do it my way this time. You deserve to have the wedding of your dreams, not someone elses. We are having a low key BBQ AHR when we arrive.
  13. I now have a 'feel' of who is coming. I didn't want to pressure anyone either, so I waited a bit, but I still asked my close friend to be my maid of honour before she RSVP'd. Although I don't think she would have been offended if I would have waited.
  14. I'm also in the same boat. I work in an office of 15, but only socialize with 2 coworkers outside of work. I've already told them I'm inviting them. I highly doubt the rest would come and in any event they cannot shut down the office. We are having a reception upon our arrival, I was thinking of inviting all of my coworkers to that. Would that be "in your face" if I don't invite them to both?
  15. My TA received quotes from Air Canada Vacations and Sunquest for 2011. She had to call, nothing is on line yet.
  16. We are getting married in April 2011....our travel agent is really pushing us to confirm our wedding date and get our guests to book their rooms. We feel it's early, but we don't want to lose our date. Any thoughts??
  17. We are getting married in Jamaica in April 2011, but are still undecided between Negril or Ocho Rios...I've been reading mixed reviews. We can't do Sandals as we will have some single people joining us, so we've opted for a RIU. Unfortunately, our local travel agents seem useless when it comes to getting info. I need help ladies! What made you choose OR?
  18. I think it's more "beachy" with a light chiffon dress...
  19. Name: Nancy & Marc Location: Ocho Rios, Jamaica Date: April 2011 We are currently tossing around getting married at the RIU, then spending our 2nd week honeymooning at Sandals. Or vice-versa. Does anyone have any suggestions on which would be better? We have gone to the RIU's in the Mayan Riviera a couple of times and absolutely loved them!!! However, we've never been to a Sandals and have heard mixed reviews. Your opinions are welcome!
  20. Thanks, gals!!! I may need your help along the way )
  21. Hi my name is Nancy and we are planning on getting married in Ocho Rios in April 2011. We are trying to decide between the Sandals and the RIU. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone!
