Honey740's Moon Palace 2009 Review
honey740 replied to honey740's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Friday night we had the "rehearsal dinner" even though there was no rehearsal haha. We ordered the Caribbean Buffet and it was amazing! Everyone raved about the food. Again, bartenders were awesome. Even the pool bar bartender we had made friends with Jesus, came but to make some special drinks for us! Friday was also the day we scheduled our spa treatments that were included. The spa was great, I highly recommend it! Saturday Morning we had breakfast with a few people and then my husband took the ride to the moon golf side to see me off and to have lunch with the guys. I had my mani/pedi/makeup and hair done. I went to MAC and bought like $300 worth of makeup and had them do all the makeup on the picture of the face so I could bring it down to Cancun with me. I am glad I did because although he did a great job and I am sure he is capable, he spoke very little english and I would not have been able to convey what I wanted. Same thing with my hair, he did a GORGEOUS job, but I had a picture with me. My sister wasn't so lucky. She didn't have a picture and they started to tease her hair and put it up when she stopped them and had to practically do her own hair. I was very happy with my makeup and hair. -
**this is long and will take several posts** Thanks for all the great suggestions from all the MP brides, I only got on this forum about a month before my wedding but the info was invaluable. The Details Wedding Date: July 18th, 2009 at 5:00pm Wedding Coordinator: Lily Wedding Package: Deluxe Gazebo - Bumbagilias Cocktail Hour: 5:30-6:30, Bumbagilias Terrace Reception:7-11pm in the Aqua Ballroom in Nizuc Bride and Groom stay: July 13th - 21st Guests stay: July 15th - July 22th - people stayed between 3 to 7 nights, one couple staying 2 nights (they were still counted in our total) Everyone stayed in the Grand section. We had a total of 33 people, including the bride and groom. All Adults. We had a total of 78 room nights booked so we qualified for the unlimited free events, which we took advantage of. Wedding Events Thursday, July 16th - Most Guests Arrive Since everyone was staying in the grand section, they have a makeshift check in area. We asked for a room close to that area so we could be comfortable in our room and guests could come knock on our door when they arrived. We stayed in room 105 and it worked out great. We were able to pass out 90% of our welcome bags. Thursday night we hosted a cocktail party with appetizers and desserts and they had a full open bar there with many servers and bartenders, we never had an empty glass. Some guests said that the apps weren't great, they were the most disappointed in the food that night. Lily was awesome though. She met us before every event (they were @ 7pm) to make sure they were running smoothly.

Tina- I am waiting for my pics to arrive, I asked my WC to email me the tracking number as soon as she sent it last week, but that didn't happen. Have you heard how long it takes to arrive? I mean, I paid $65 for it to be sent so it better get here soon! (they were supposed to be ready and shipped last Thursday)

pyxystyx- everyone gets a $100 spa credit, but people should book appts before they get down there to make sure there is time, the appts fill up fast. Also, no converters needed, everything plugs in fine :-) Chichen-Itza is SOO hot right now, you may want to consider Tulum. We also went on the kitchen tour and isla mujeres. When we went to Isla Mujeres, we took a cab downtown for $4, rented a golf cart for $10/hr and tooled around taking pictures and stopping at the turtle farm, and Garrafon, we had a blast. I HIGHLY recommend doing that instead of the palace off-shoot excursions once you get there.

hey guys! I will post my full review later this week, but I had such an amazing time! I will wait to get all my pics together to give one huge review. One thing I wouldn't change was staying at the Grand section, it was so nice to have a huge room and it was easy to meet guests since they have a makeshift lobby and my room was literally 500 feet from it. here's some teaser pics till then!

Thanks Marie! That certainly put my mind at ease. Gina Lyn, thanks, but I have already searched and couldn't find anything specific to United. All airlines are different and I was looking for a recent experience on United so I could be prepared. That's why I was so specific with the title on my post.

Anyone have any experience with United airlines going to Mexico and taking your dress on board for them to put in the closet? I called and they said it shouldn't be a problem but one woman said it depends on how full the closet is. Have you ever heard of someone being denied? I can't check the dress as is if there is no room, the bag is not designed to fly.

Help! Is anyone else having this problem??

Most of us found air on our own, bulk air wasn't any cheaper and we were all coming form different places. Alot of us travel all the time. My family all used frequent flier miles. I was simply telling the OP if something works for you but isn't convenient, push for what works for you. I understand you feel that not using a supplier is bad news, but please consider the type of situation we are in. 3 years ago, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. Now, a lot of people don't even have jobs let alone $ to take a $3k trip. It's a big decision and 20-30 days is not enough time, and if we need to eliminate suppliers to give us more time for the guests to feel comfortable we should have that option. -

sorry but being able to have the luxury to wait to make a decision (a 3K decision in this economy) as opposed to having my guest have to make a deposit 30 days after we booked was priceless. That was what the OP was posting about. Times are tough and that was the difference between 10 people coming and the 35 we ended up having because they had time to decide. I would not have done anything differently, so you can bash my decision all you want. -

It was the same price and we all got a link from palace to book our rooms. The palace had a 45 day release with no deposit needed until then, the supplier was the one who had the really short waiting time. I understand it's different for every resort, that's why the OP should call the hotel directly and find out what their policy is. Either way, I think that they situation she's in is bad and she needs to find a new TA. If her TA didn't set up the "interim replacement" properly, she obviously doesn't care how her clients are treated, and I wouldn't want my wedding in those hands.
