FutureMsMoulton- if you want a beach wedding (they cost extra btw) I would highly suggest planning one of the latest times they have. It is VERY hot if you do it in the middle of the day on the beach. Not as much so in the gazebo because you have some shelter from the sun.

Tina, I was VERY specific with Miami, and they told me several times our rooms counted towards the total number of rooms booked. I know you may trust your TA, but, you need to know that they do not get commission on your comped room nights, so, you may want to call Miami yourself since there is a financial incentive for your TA not to get those rooms comped for you.

Eureaka, it says right on the website the cake is free, and I know it was with the old pkg too....I would have been LIVID!! BTW, our daily schedule was like yours, between 8am and 5pm, I always had a bathing suit on lol

That plan would work except they would need to check out of the room. I would just tell MP that you are paying for the 2 extra nights even though the room won't be occupied and get it in writing that if you pay for the room nights the price is still valid. I hope you got the price in writing too because I will tell you now, the Miami office doesn't relay anything to the on site people. You need to bring documentation down with you. Miami gave me one extra night free because my flight was changed and I had it in writing in an email I forwarded to the accounting department. If I didn't have that, I would have been screwed. Not telling you to scare you, but if they are doing something out of the ordinary for you, get it in writing.

Thanks! We got an 8X10 in our package and I just framed it :-) We had our rehearsal dinner outside @ one of the patios b/c it was free with the amount of people we had. I would definitely request the rooftop sushi bar on the grand side, it's on top of the Caribbean Restaurant. The view is amazing.

By the way, I have been to the DR, and if she thinks it's safer than Cancun, she's delusional. Not to say the DR isn't safe, but I felt much safer in Mexico. I mean, you really can't leave the resort in the DR- if you do, you are taking a risk. The info is very much still valid, the only thing that has changed is the pre priced packages. If I were you, I would go through the spreadsheets and price out what you think is important. If it totals more than the package on the website and offers less, then you need to pick one of those packages, that's all.

Moon palace is like a mile from the main road and is off the strip, so you won't even have to deal with shady vendors on the beach like you do on the strip. It is VERY secure. Every time you leave and enter, even on an excursion, they record who is coming and going. There is no way anyone could make it in there unnoticed. Besides, there is nothing going on in the tourist section drug/violence-wise. People will always make excuses for why they can't come or try to make you feel bad about your choice. This is YOUR day. If people choose not to be there, tell them they'll be missed and then move on with your planning. You can't control everyone. That was the hardest part about planning the dest wedding, just focusing on myself and the people that were coming and people that were supportive.

I hope those were the free ones! Nibsmom, I saw them on Friday night when we had our rehearsal dinner. they were done in between the Moon grand and Nizuc side.

Mine was still the old package, which, unfortunately I thought was better. I did see the fireworks from a wedding while we were there, literally 3 fireworks. Don't pay extra for that if it's not included in your package, everyone at my rehearsal dinner was laughing saying wow I hope they didn't pay for that.

it's not really a dj, it's a guy who operates the sound system. and everyone @ moon palace complains about the vendor, that's why I knew about it beforehand, it's so annoying when you spend 5 hours coming up with a playlist and you don't hear all of it.

I did the Isla mujeres one and just used it to take the ferry over...they offer separate excursions at $35/pp. When we arrived we took a $4 cab ride into town, rented a golf cart for $40 for the day and just drove around the island (its only one main road) We went to the turtle farm, Garrafon, and the ruins on the island. We had an awesome time by ourselves taking pictures.

The other nights we better, this just happened to be the hottest night, it's like the hot air lingered and even after the wedding @ 11pm, the heat did not go away. We had outside events the other nights which were fine, it was just unusually hot that night.

Overall experience: A The rooms were amazing, the food was good. The waitstaff and the staff around the resort were amazing. Spa: A I had a great spa experience. Unlike Nibsmom, there were only 2 other people in the hydrotherapy area, so I kind of got run of the place. Wedding Coordinator: A+++++ Lily was amazing. I am tough to please, there is no arguing that. She never once said no to me and always provided suggestions as to how to get close to what I wanted. She was great at communication as well. I am not sure how much they pay these people, but I am sure it's not enough. Welcome Cocktail- B Food was OK, service was excellent! Friday night dinner, Caribbean Buffet- A- food was great, service was awesome (locations for both events was great as well) Wedding: A It was beautiful, and the MP really was really accommodating. I felt like I got more than I paid for, which is saying a lot! Cocktail Reception: C Not really their fault I guess, it was just way too hot, all that wasted food and champagne :-( Reception: A+ The food was great, service awesome, everyone had a great time DJ- C Wish he just followed the playlist.... Salon: A+ I had my services @ The golf salon, they did an amazing job!!! Videography: A I just watched the video last night, it was nice to have and we'll watch it a few times I am sure. Wedding time! I went back to my room with literally 20 minutes to spare. I hate that you have to wait for a cart to take you from the golf place and then they take you to the nizuc lobby, but then if you catch the bus there, you go all the way back to palapas. so we decided to take our chances hoping to find a cart outside of nizuc. Thank god we did because it was so hot, i was melting! Literally. and THANK GOD for the mist and fix, it saved my life. I was picked up with my dad at my room, I was given my bouquet which I was completely happy with. We got on the carriage and drove off towards the gazebo. Lily went ahead on her golf cart. I think this was the hottest day we had the entire time we were there. I was thankful for the little breeze I got from the carriage! We arrived and I walked down the aisle. The minister we had was the cutest thing ever, loved him!! We said our I do's and then we had a champagne toast and then walked down the aisle. I was so glad I paid the $70 and got the rose petals. We got the most beautiful pictures! We went to the beach with David Pena and got some shots on the pier and the beach. I loved my pictures and thought they were a great value. I got an album with many shots, 8X10's 6's and a disc with 755 pictures. Many of my friends have paid 5k to get that and sometimes they don't even get the originals, people have to order prints. The cocktail hour ended up to be a bust. By the time we came back from getting our pics taken, people were sooo hot that they just wanted to get into the AC (thank god I decided to have the reception inside!!). We started walking towards nizuc and asked Lily to see if the reception room would be ready early. We got in @ 6:30. The reception was great. The fillet Mignon was the best meal I had all week. Again, the waiters knew what you were drinking and had backups for you as soon as you finished your last drink, they were amazing! My only complaint was the DJ, yes here we go again. When I started hearing songs not on my playlist I freaked out - knowing what I had read here. My husband had to ask 3 times before he finally got it and for the rest of the night it was all our playlist. The cake was really good, we did chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and strawberries. It looked great too, exactly like the picture I gave them.
