  1. thank you so much amqueens! Are you from queens by any chance? I live in Astoria. I didn't get them in NY but ordered them online Stephita Custom Handmade Wedding Invitations - Unique Wedding Invitations, Wedding Stationery - Online, Toronto, Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough, Mississauga, Thornhill, Etobicoke, York, East York, Woodbridge, Vaughan, Concord, North York, Maple, - I saw another brides invitations and figured I would look into it. Check them out they have a lot of different designs and you can alter them as you wish. The sent me samples of the paper and ribbon colors first. Email them at info@stephia.com and they will help you out. They were expensive - I think anyway - about $5 each. I only need 40 so I splurged. Let me know if you want any other info.
  2. I really love them - FI not crazy about the pink but I don't care its the carribean!!!!!! Can't wait until he sees all of the fushia details the day of ha ha.
  3. I am getting married in May in La Romana - I am using Chrisitian Nin as my videographer. The resort photographer was so expensive at Casa de Campo I asked Christian if he knew any wedding photographers in the area -his brother happens to be a wedding photographer out of Santo Domingo but is glad to come to La Romana at no charge. They were very resonably priced and I checked their references..all extremely good. Check them out - Christian Nin Video Studio and :: Nin Photography :: They got back to me very very fast! Good luck.
  4. OOT beach bags for a decent price? I have seen some great ones on here but there are a lot of posts to go through the topic! If anyone can send me a link or suggestion I would really appreciate it..also love the pashmina idea too!!! If anyone has gotten them online and had a good experience share please!!! Thank you ladies
  5. I agree..if its not there no one will care. I am going to have an ipod with speakers in the background during dinner and if someone feels like getting their groove on so be it not gonna stress about it. the only thing I feel we might miss out on is the first dance but then again this is not a traditional wedding so may not be missed anyway
  6. thanks ladies! The dress was actually not expensive and cost less then my original dress - go figure. This dress just feels right. I think I was overwhelmed when I picked the first dress. I can't wait to wear it!!!
  7. I bought this beautiful dress then changed my mind. I ordered it back in June and paid $1050 for it. I just picked it up today from the bridal salon. It is now on sale for $850. It has not been altered, size 8, ivory, brand new, didn't even try it on today (didn't want to toture myself some more). I am a street size 4 but I am curvy so decided to get an 8 so I could have it altered perfectly. Let me know if you are interested..below are some pics and one with me in the sample back in June when I placed my order

  9. thank you gals. I posted it on ebay..i wasn't sure if I could post it on here but probably a best place to do it if any - i will give a try ..thanks again!!!!
  10. What a whirlwind this whole wedding dress shopping thing is! I know many of you ladies have found your dress and loved it looking no further. Then there have been some that changed their minds and wound up with two dresses - that would be me. A while back in July I posted my wedding dress ecstatic and thank you everyone for the positive reinforcement but something in my head kept telling me to just take another look ...and I did and I found my dream dress (see below) !!!!!!! Now I have to figure out how to sell the original one I bought since the store couldn't cancel the order It looks way better in person!!!!! OMG I LOVE IT!
  11. You poor thing! That is terrible but you will find a great place before you know it and lucky you were able to pull the invites. All the resorts everyone has recommended are fantastic in punta cana. Also you can look into La Romana - there is a brand new dreams resort there. I may actually have some of the package prices..if I do I will pm you with them. BEST OF LUCK...it will all work out!
  12. I am getting married in La Romana but at Casa de Campo. They recommended a photographer but the packages were really really expensive. I decided to ask the videographer if he knew any photographers in La Romana and he said his brother is a wedding photographer - gave me a much better deal then the resorts recommendation. If anyone wants to check him out :: Nin Photography :: - his name is David and his brother who is taking my video is Christian and website is Christian Nin Video Studio Funny part is that when I left the wc coordinator know she said "oh great choice the nin brothers are fantastic" - well then why didn't you tell me that from the get go! I had to find them on my own lol.
  13. RCBlondie - I am on a major delay here so not sure you will see this thread I just figured out how to see the threads I am subscribed too lol! Good idea to have a good selection of slow songs on in the background - slow dancing is the best and I agree with you..I don't get to do it too often so may be nice. I guess I am going to just play it by year and be prepared for it to go either way Good advice. How many are you having at your wedding? Once again bringing this thread back to life :)
  14. I posted to this thread a while ago - probably a month or two ago..trying to get pumped to quit smoking. I did wind up quitting but only 10 days ago. This will be the second time I quit smoking in my lifetime. I have been smoking since I was in highschool...I was probably up to a pack a day when I quit the first time about 3 years ago..I tried the patch, gums etc previously but it seemed to prolong the process of getting the nicotine out of my system...what worked that first time was cold turkey. It was hard but I didn't smoke for a year and a half. Then one day I decided I could have one while having a drink (all my friends smoke btw), gradually over the next few months I started smoking again...a lot less then before but nonetheless smoking on a daily basis. Any excuse I could find really - I associate/ed smoking with having fun, relaxing, enjoyment..I feel like a different person when I am not smoking - its really crazy but true. I decided it was time to quit..the summer is over, I really don't feel like dying of lung cancer and all the commericals on tv make me feel so guilty. Not to mention the $10 price tag - ouch! So here I go again...cold turkey...day 10 not so bad. I wish you all the best of luck!!! If i can quit anyone can ...trust me..I am the biggest junkie when it comes to smoking...just takes some will power and loving people around you (people that still love you after you curse them out due to your mood swings from the withdrawal ha ha ha SERIOUSLY).
  15. we are having a legal catholic ceremony in a church ..pain in the rear. it will be in spanish but the reading and exchanging of vows will be in english (should be pretty funny since neither of us speak spanish nor do any of guests). Before we decided to have the catholic ceremony in DR we were going to be married in our church a few days before we left and just a symblic ceremony in DR. Its a tough decesion..one had we wanted to share the moment with everyone as it happend and on the other hand we wanted it to be in english - somehow we opted to go with the church ceremony in spanish with the most important part in english good luck!!!!
  16. Hi Nonnie - we are getting married at Casa de Campo in the church at Altos Chevron. We are having our entire guests book an all inclusive package because the prices for food and beverage alone are pretty outrageous. This is definitely a safe resort with 5 star restaurants, spa, it has twenty something restaurants...you can even get a private villa with your own pool. This resort is top notch!!!! I am so excited to get married there but we are actually doing the opposite of you and going to punta cana for our honeymoon If you have any questions let me know ...happy to give you all the information I have.
  17. we are actually getting married at Casa de Campo - I can't share in the excitement with the other brides no one else seems to be getting married there. The prices are a bit steep but we are having a very small wedding. Anyway, I wanted to post on here so brides are aware you can have your wedding at the church St. Stanislaus but stay at Dreams which is more affordable than Casa. I spoke with the wc at Dream to get this info Tiara. Hope it helps anyone trying to getting married in a church!
