  1. thanx bridget for the review. it is very helpful. i am less worried about tiara's organisational skill as i am planning on having only 20- 30 guests at my wedding though now that i know the music has to stop at 23:00, it made me think twice about hiring a dj (for around an hour's dancing.. btw, did you hire a dance floor?).. i have the same question as the brbr.bo, i am wondering if anyone knows another dj other than the resort and dj mania?
  2. i vaguely remmebered when i last logged in (maybe a month ago) that there was an alternative photographer who can do the pics for a lower price but i can not seem to find it as i sieve through these forum pages now. anyone remember who they are? i am bringing my own decor as they do not have the colour that i wanted (sapphire blue-fussy me!). i will be hiring the chairs from them though and i was wondering if the prices shown are hire prices just for the ceremony or reception or for the whole day, i.e. if i have 20 guests, will i need to hire 20 chairs for the ceremony and 20 chairs for the reception or just 20 chairs for the whole day?
  3. i am still trying to work out the amount i need to get the wedding i want. i am not marrying till jul 2011 or july 2012 and she was very helpful and went into great lengths to find out the cost for the specific flowers i wanted and other little details like that. so, she may just be a bit busy but if you have any questions, i will try to answer some of it.
  4. yeah, my fiancee and i are combing the wedding and the honeymoon. to us, that was one of the main reasons why we decided to have the wedding abroad. by combining the wedding and the honeymoon saves us money and gives us an ideal setting for our wedding.
  5. which cruise line?? would recommend princess cruises.
  6. well, also, lucky for my 2 bridesmaids (my sis and my fiancee's sis), i am planning to most of the stuff myself cause i feel only i know what i want and do not like someone choosing stuff for me.
  7. poor you! can not believe you are still friends with her to be honest. but good luck in your wedding!
  8. maybe it is quite well in advance but congrats. i am hopin dat i can marry july 2011, but need to get a permanent job first.. so it maybe 2012.. but i wish i have the option to book in advance.
  9. well, it depends if your guests, esp. your parents and grandparents find it all right. i am old school n like to have a more semi- formal approach to my wedding so i personally would not do that.
  10. i agree e-bay is the best! and also, you get alot of good deals on other internet sites too. set a priority for the dress. for me, my flowers and the decorations are the top priority and hence, i am spending less on the dress (which is a white bridesmaid dress), not have a veil and white flip flops.
  11. welcome! i am originally from hong kong (but got a british passport) and have lived in UK for 9 years. my fiancee is british and have lived in wales most of his life. where in scotland are you planning? do not want to burst your bubble, but i hope you are flexible with your dates and churches, registry and venue for reception etc. like that. i have heard registries and churches get booked out quite quickly esp. in the summer, so would advice to move quick. also check out confetti.co.uk if you have not done so. hope this helps!
  12. it is a great thread. mine are: 1) direct chartered flight from the UK 2) all- inclusive with lots of watersports and dining options! 3) reasonable wedding packages and price 4) the wedding coordinator allowing me to put my own special touches into it 5) child friendly
  13. anygirl1169, i agree that you can sort through jokesters and players right away! i mean i am sure there are those type online as in other places, but you can talk to them and see whether you want to meet them and not 'fall for their charm and can not get out'. i can talk to them about how their values are and whether we share some common ground and whether there is any potential to be a lifelong partner before meeting them. although, i still have not admit to people where i met him cause i worry my traditional parents would change the way they see him. i told them that we met through facebook through an acquaintance (which has some truth). my friends and family adore him but i do not want to change how they see him if i tell the truth.
  14. for me and my fiancee, marriage is not just about romance, but also about a promise, agreement and a legality. what i mean is if we both want it to be legal, we do not see why we have to do it twice and spend double the money especially when it cost £10k for 1 wedding (for the style i want). as i said before, we are brought up in a traditional 'up tight' manner and believe marriage comes before living together and having children. but hey, it is different for different people and i am sorry if i sounded harsh.
  15. my fiancee and i met online at datingdirect.co.uk. as a female engineer and a tom girl, i have lots of guy friends but never see them more than just friends. i did not find anyone that shares my moral and family values and have a similar personality (motor racing, the beach, similar music tastes etc.) as my fiancee (who is also an engineer!). we chatted online and on the phone for a week before going on a date. one date over the weekend turned into three and got engaged six and a half months later! i always say before i do not believe in finding love online, but now, i believe it is possible. people should go and find love instead of just sitting there waiting. that is what i learned after a few failed dates (and realise i am making the same mistakes) and went to search for it and found it.
  16. i will personally register cause both me and my fiancee have a traditional upbringing and there is no point of spending al the money if it is not legal in the first place.
  17. i am in a similar boat. i sat down, have a feeling for what type of wedding i want and how formal i wanted it to be etc. and look up on the cost of the type of dresses i wanted, hotel packages, and other bits and bobs and add them together. print a budget sheet from sites like confetti.co.uk or similar wedding sites and add it all up- oh and add 5% to the total to take into account of inflation. some hotels do free weddings like dreams. have the ceremony and get the whole party to go and eat together in the same restaurant that night. if you want to make it a bit personal, go to ebay or just browse on the internet for good deals. i got 25 chair sashes, 4 overlays and 25 napkins in the colour i wanted for $60! if the hotel allow candles, a few ona table makes the difference and you can get a bag of tealights (100 for £5 or 60 for £3) if the hotel allows candles. simple touches like that make so much difference! maybe not wear a 'big' wedding dress or maybe get a white bridesmaid dress instead.
  18. you are not that early. i am semi- planning for my wedding in summer 2011. working out the cost and what exactly the package includes is quite alot of work esp. when i have a special look and feel to the wedding.
