Gifts at DW reception vs. AHR???
CrystalM replied to GoCubs!'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I told the wedding party and parents that if anyone asks, we are registered at Macy's and Target and to please ship gifts to our home before April 25th or after May 10th. -
Wow! I just found this thread! I'm getting married May 1, 2010 in St. Thomas

When your wisdom teeth are removed, there is a blood clot that forms in it's place. Dry socket is when that blood clot gets removed and all the nerve endings that were attached to the teeth are exposed to air. For me the pain was throbbing from my ear to my chin on both sides. Not fun.

SO If I did that for a bracelet we would be looking pretty steep.. yikes :/ Wow. Last year, I had Jared take 3 pearl (weird shaped, not round) necklaces and make 1 longer necklace, earrings and a bracelet out of them and it was only $100 for the custom work. It might be worth looking into buying the necklace and having it set into 10k white gold or sterling silver really thin as a bangle bracelet w/o a hinge. The cost would be cheaper if you can ask them to use the chains from all the necklaces if you haven't decided to do something else with them already. The gold used in my pearl strands came 100% from old broken chains of mine and my moms. -
Our plans to HM, help with Hotel Suggestions at Paris & Rome

My dad told me my grandpa went into the hospital and was getting surgery so I flew back and canceled everything. My grandpa is fine and the money was all spent on my return flight. I was going to do a day in London, 1 in Paris, then head to Greece (Athens, Santorini and Mykonos) and then to Italy (Rome & Vatican City, Milan, Venice, Pompeii). -
ugh. Just 1. Wisdom teeth - all 4, got dry socket. I was 19 and told them to knock me out. I told them I was allergic to opium based drugs and they gave me Tylenol 3. I was with it enough to mumble that I was allergic. They then gave me Darvocet. Again, I'm allergic!!! dumb . After that experience I'm afraid to have anything else done to me - including Lasik (desperately wanted!)

Wow, you have alot of responses. My idea was for you to buy either a 2nd set of earrings or another necklace(which ever is cheaper) and have Kay's or a goldsmith make you a bangle bracelet. I had a goldsmith retip, replate, remove some manufacturer engraving and tighten my channel set stones for only $35. -
I would soooo would have delivered the cake she destroyed. I loved how she was asking if anything about her made him think she wanted a traditional cake...like he was supposed to read her mind about what she wanted. I think she didn't come out to see it because she was too embarrassed to face him.

What's your budget?? I have an idea -
Best thing I've found is Mitchum mens unscented smart solid. It's a solid but it's water based. NEVER leaves marks, no smell to it at all, is about $4, and it's strong.

I only recorded the top 10 show. My favorite meltdowns were on there Megan (the one who "owns" her husband), Kristen ("This is my frickin day!"), and Lisa (the one who trashed her veil and threw the platinum band in the champagne).

I had my fiance call Bank of America to discuss getting a mortgage with them (long story, but we didn't think we'd be able to buy a house until the market bounced back and his ex wife can refinance) and they will be working on our pre-approval tomorrow. We found 4 houses online that I'll be looking at next week to narrow down and hopefully Saturday, Dave can look at the ones I still like. We're hoping to close late Sept. Our lease is up on Halloween. So he talked to his dad and told him about the latest with it. His dad said "Let me know what 10% and your closing costs are and It'll be my wedding gift to you." The 2 stipulations are that it has to be a house and if his wife dies before him, we have to have room for him (He's in his 70s and his wife has had, no joke, 22 strokes) Today, I woke up after he did and I walked into the kitchen and the whole kitchen was clean and there was a load of laundry in the washer This has NEVER happened before! I got my TTD from my apt. office and it's perfect! I love everything from BCBG though! I posted it in another thread, but a pic is in the link below. I realized, today, I'm a first time home buyer and will get 8k in Jan. when I file my taxes since we won't be married. Our wedding expenses are basically set from that. Dave really really wants to get re-certified for SCUBA and I've always wanted to do it so he suggested that we do it and do our dives in St. Thomas with part of the money. That's the only thing he really wanted for tourist type stuff besides golf. The rest will go toward fixing up the house or paying down the principal. Then tonight I was talking to one of my bridesmaids on Facebook and she asked what I wanted her to do with her hair. I said I don't care if you have it up or done or any combination of the two and that I'm doing mine on my own. She said "Oh no you're not! My gift to you is that I'm paying for your hair, nails and pedicure that day. It'll be a good time to relax before everything. I would have had your make up done too but I know you're allergic to some stuff and you don't know what they use!" There was also talk of how she's vain and was definitely going to be having her hair done and didn't want to "out do me". HAHA! I just really wanted to share my good news

CUTE! Palm Tree necklace
CrystalM replied to bobbysgirl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
For any one who cares, The real one is by Roberto Coin - part of the Tiny Treasures collection. I was in Carlyle & Co. getting some jewelry cleaned and saw it. Super cute! 2 versions of it one is $600 and the other is $1400, I think. Set in 18k WG. THe smaller is about 1/5 ct and the larger is about 1/2 ct. -
Ceremony decoration/seating
CrystalM replied to CrystalM's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
IKEA is my home decor God. They have every color blanket you can imagine. Their pillows vacuum packed and rolled. I'm decent enough with a sewing machine I can make pillow cases myself. My fiance's business has a FedEx corporate account and will ship for employees at cost. We might just pay for extra baggage or have someone - my dad- stuff his suitcase. -

Yeah, the ceremony is going to be short. I'm writing it and not getting super mushy (this was my fiance's request) and much to both my parents dismay, I'm doing a secular ceremony. I'm using an ipod and docking station for music. I think I've decided to do the pillow thing. I'm going to pop over to JoAnn's before work and take some prices and item numbers for fabric. I'm just oging to make them instead of buying as they are. I'll buy the pillows from IKEA since they're all vacuum packed. My colors are aqua, black, and white...what do you think would look best? 1.Black blankets, white and aqua pillows 2. White blankets, aqua and black pillows 3. aqua blanket, white and black pillows -

I showed 2 of my girls and they said they liked the plain black ones from Old Navy better. I was really shocked, but I guess we're sticking with those. -
The actual flying part doesn't bother me. The lines to check baggage, dealing with TSA, crying children, worrying about your bags making it where they need to, ending up squished next to a stranger, the 'it's not my problem' attitude of most the employees, dealing with parking and navigating airports in a car...that mess I could do with out.
