  2. Maybe the exec. producers aren't totally cutting the alums out of the show - my friend made this comment on FB. I didn't even look at the make of the car. "it was a old porche with a west bev sticker when i first saw it i though dylan mckay'

  4. I don't "hide" anything but in the DV-R that he complains about watching are: CSI: Miami Desperate Housewives Grey's Anatomy Brothers and Sisters Secret Life of the America Teenager 90210 Gossip Girl - he complains but secretly loves it - he loves Blair & Chuck and got really into the episode with Lilly as a teenager. Wow. I watch too much TV.
  5. Jen is SICK! I hope Naomi finds out and kicks her out of that house! I think Annie did that thing at the end of the episode to Ethan.

Like you said, I only want families and close friends there! Not some "hi and bye" friends or friend's bf whom I don't even know! I've had ALOT of people pull this one on Facebook and Myspace! My favorite was "Oh my gosh! I'm sooooooo excited to see you get married!!!" That was from someone I haven't seen since high school!
  7. My mom is the type that doesn't feel obligated to do anything she doesn't want to. I asked her how it came up and my mom said was talking to the mother in law on the phone about the wedding and Janice, the mother-in-law said that it sounded beautiful so my mom just said why don't you come with me and Brian, my step-dad, and they'll share a hotel, stay the week and make it a vacation. The stuff I'm doing for my girls is my gift for them, 2 have 2 children each and the other is a student and otherwise wouldn't be able to be there. The flaky one decided to open a savings account and is pulling money from her paycheck for the next year. If her husband can't go, he can't go. She and I had a LONG conversation about it. I actually found perfect off the rack at Old Navy dresses for them for $15.00 as opposed to $60. The photographer is my fiance's best friend. They talked today and the photographer changed his mind and decided that he's only going to charge us for airfare and 1 night in the hotel instead of his creative fee plus expenses, which is saving us over a grand. I've made cuts where I can. We're cutting costs but putting it toward the house fund. We're okay with renting for another year, but the $8500 tax credit would be nice to have, if not, oh well.
  8. I'm taking a guess that I simply rub people the wrong way on here. I think I 'm going to start lurking. This post was mostly me making a comment about my mom. It doesn't really bother me to have people there to celebrate with us but my fiance and I are paying for our wedding and we are trying to buy a house before December. No one is helping us pay for anything and I've been losing work left and right due to the economy. All of this my mom knows. It's not my mother's mother, it's her mother in law, my step dad's mother. In the 6 years my mom has been married to her current husband, I have seriously met the mother in law twice. The last time I saw her was either Christmas of 2005 or 2006, I can't remember. We want our close friends and family there. My entire guest list is about 25 people, nearly all of which will make it. The biggest part of the decision to have a destination wedding was to have a small intimate wedding.
  9. The worst part is your FI's daughter. She's really the only one who is going to suffer. FI's ex just doesn't get it. I'm glad that even though my parents hate eachother, they were always fair when it came to things like that! My mom got married to her 3rd (currently on #4!) husband in Vegas. I missed school, but I got to go. I took my homework from school and did it in the airport/on the plane. I was 10, maybe 11. If your FI is up to it, he can contact the court and request permission. That way, it goes before a judge...and they tend to be fair. Just think of every possible situation that could be brought up and have an answer for it. My friend won a vacation at her work to go to Hawaii in February and her daughter's dad took her to court and they asked a bunch of questions to each parent and decided it was in the daughter best interest to go on the vacation and miss school. You never know!
  10. I knew someone was going to invite someone to my wedding w/o talking got me about it and well, my mother invited her mother & father-in-law to my wedding. I've met my stepdad's family all of 2 or 3 times. I pointed out to my mom that having 2 more guests added about $100 to our dinner costs and she said "$100? Okay I'll make sure Janice and Mel give you at least $200 in money for a gift"
  11. Thanks...I emailed the Magen's Bay Authority and my coordinator. I just waiting for the reply. I also decided that Elysian Beach will be my back up (and cheaper!) plan.
  12. I'm getting married next year in St. Thomas. I pulled up the Magen's Bay authority website and the beach closes at 5pm. My printed invitations read 6pm. BEFORE I printed them I booked my wedding coordinator and she said 6pm would be fine. My best friend is more than likely flying in that day (she has graduation for her Ph.D the afternoon before). I'm not sure about flight info yet, but I really doubt she'll be able to fly from Detroit to St. Thomas that day and be there by the time she'd need to be. My hope right now are that she'll be able to be there early enough, but in case she can't, I have 3 options. 1. Move the time to 4:00 and continue without her. (not a fan of this because she won't be there and I'm sure the beach will be crowded on a Saturday) 2. Change the date. (NOT going to happen - chose the date for a reason!) 3. Change the venue. (I really wanted to get married on Magen's Beach!) Thankfully, I'm sending packets out as soon as I get RSVP's. I'm going to include any change information in that, instead of paying another $310 for new invitations. What other venue's should I consider at this point? I would prefer a beach, but someplace with a fantastic view would be okay. Or any other suggestions would be appreciated!
  13. I'm not going to defend myself, but I will say this: My friend since I was 4 year old is one of them. She was supposed to get married 5 years ago. I was her MOH. I paid $280, YES, $280 dollars for my bridemaid dress, $75 on alterations, $60 for the matching dyeable shoes, and co hosted her bridal shower for $300, all to get to 2 months before the wedding and her "postpone" it cause they couldn't afford it. They have set 3 additional dates and each has come and gone. All the meanwhile, she told me to hang on to the dress and shoes...she *just* got married in April buy doing a JOP wedding. Am I still annoyed by this, absolutely. This is why I think it's tacky. She is worried about being able to afford it now as it is. So for everyone who just laid into me about it, what would you do? It's also not like this was going to be the only thing in the contract....I was planning on spelling out every and any responsibilities such date, times, when to reserve things. I talked to one of the other girls about it today. She thinks it's a good idea. She's also a sm. bus. owner who deals with contracts all day long.
  14. I wrote up a contract for my wedding party? I'm not talking about the contract like not wanting my BM's to change their hair color or no getting pregnant. I think it's semi tacky to ask someone to be part of your day and then ask them to pay for everything so I'm buying my BM dresses, shoes, paying for half of their hotel rooms, and "lending" my photographer out to them for them to have nice pro photos of them and their families (2 are bringing her hubby and kids and the 3rd's date is her mom, who was also invited). Total is about $300-400 each. If they decide after I've paid for said things not to go or can't go, for any reason, I don't want to lose the money. I'm a photographer and I know the value of a contract is worth it's weight in Platinum...FI says that bringing in a contract into something like this is going to make me lose friends, but I think it's important for me not to be out that money if someone flakes on me...
  15. I too get the half recorded shows. Or I MAKE SURE that something supposed to record the day of and when I go to watch it, it isn't there. I ask FI about it and is response is "I didn't delete them" or "I don't know what happened" UGH! YOU DID DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!! In the last month I've missed 90210, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, and Desperate Housewives. All of which are shows he hates (and it's not like I make him watch them!!!!). Maybe I have a DV-R ghost
  16. I'm in the process of decided what hotel to stay at in St. Thomas and Bolongo Bay so far is the first person to get back to me. I am surprised with the service by Katarina Doumeng. She is one of the owners (as far as I can tell from the website). This is the email conversation: From: Crystal To: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Group Rates Hi, I'm getting married on St. Thomas on May 1, 2010 and I wanted to find out what your group rates are. 17. Thanks! I decided I'll be at Duffy's and FI decided on Caribbean Saloon after seeing their cool website.
  18. I've noticed every thing is pricey down there...it's going to be hard to stick to just 1k in spending money for 8 days down there. I might actually stay at Mafolie. I'm waiting to get some info from them, Secret Harbour, and Bolongo Bay. If I can get decent group rates from Secret or Bolongo for the guests I'll stay with them, but if not, I'm recommending Mafolie to everyone.
  19. You should see the guests schedule! I did theirs 15 minutes earlier - my mom is going to be late to her own funeral - and that way, the late people will really be on time! For the 15-30 minutes before the ceremony, I'm having my photographer take photos of everyone there, for us and for them. Thank god he's a personal friend of my mans! I can always get dressed in my hotel, but do you remember if the restrooms had mirrors and electricity or not? It's not a big deal. I can always take my adapter and use my curling iron in the car to fix little hairs that uncurl and use a travel mirror for make up touch ups LOL
  20. Originally, I was going to do mine at Havana Blue before deciding on Mafolie, it's too far away from the wedding though...I'm not sure how they compare price wise, but Havana Blue seems very hip and trendy Blue Moon Cafe looks GREAT for prices though! I'll definitely be eating there!!!
  21. Thank you! I'm not sure where we're staying yet. I have it narrowed down to 3 places; Mafolie, Bolongo Bay, and Secret Harbour. I'm waiting for info from them to decide. Apparently that map works well with all the locations I have activities planned at - Coral World, Magen's Bay (wedding) , Mafolie (dinner after wedding), Mahogany Run (boys are going golfing). ::Relieved:: :-D
  22. Has anyone been able to find any decent maps of St. Thomas for driving? The all holy Google maps doesn't find addresses and I'm getting frustrated with that. Also, I can't find much about actual bars/clubs on St. Thomas...My bridesmaids are having a true bachelorette party for me here in Nashville, but I want to go out with them the night before and I'm sure the boys will want to do the same, but I'd like to have them elsewhere...Any suggestions? I'm not totally opposed to going to St. Johns, but I know nothing about it...
  23. They are great! My favorites are 20, 36, 56, 71, 79, 84, 89, 98, 119, 120, and 124
