  1. We are doing ours at Wahooo's Seafood Bar and Grill in Kapaa. The manager, Beth has been really nice and had a custom menu made for our 30+ guests. The reviews were kind of mixed, but most of the restaurants had mixed reviews anyway. I'll try and do a wedding review as soon as we get back to let everyone know how it went. Hope this helps!
  2. What super service! I ordered everything on Monday, used ground shipping and still recieved everything in two days! So far everthing looks good. I tried printing on the metallic cardstock with my home printer and it turned out fine. I still have a few kinks to work out to get the coloring correct, but I'll post them as soon as they're finished.
  3. Super! I ordered my sample two days ago and I'm hoping to get it in the mail tomorrow. I was so excited to find them. It's getting pretty close to my wedding date and I'm a little nervous to do such a big DIY project. I've decided that if the sample looks okay, I'm just going to jump in and do it! Wish me luck! Oh, and if anyone is willing to share their finished invitation photo it would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I don't know if anyone has used them or not, but I just read on another website about paperandmore.com. I checked them out and they have pocketfold invites (just the pocketfold) $39.99 for 50. It's the cheapest that I've found so far. I don't know about the quality, but I've just ordered my sample. I'll be sure to post and let anyone interested know if the quality is okay.

  6. I contacted the Smith Family about doing a wedding there as well. I was told that if you didn't want to do the wedding in the Fern Grotto that there was also an option to have your ceremony on the grounds near the river.
  7. Welcome to the forum Carol! We need more Hawaii brides!
  8. Good for you! It feels so nice when you know that you can check that off your list of things to do. It was the most important thing about the wedding planning to me and I was soooo relived to find mine. You look beautiful! I'm kinda jealous that you found yours on your first visit lol.
  9. Welcome to the forum! Don't stress, you'll find TONS of information and ideas on here and all the ladies are very helpful. Have fun with your planning!
  10. Welcome to the forum Lauren! You'll find TONS of information and ideas here.
  11. Thanks for the review! The color of the flowers in your bouquet were beautiful. It's great to hear that your day went so well...and that your hubbies friend finally got that tie figured out lol.
  12. That is such a cute idea! I never would have thought to give the collar as the gift first. You'll have to post pictures of your "newest family member" when you get it!
  13. Great job! The waves look really good. Kudos for getting them done so quickly. They can be so time consuming!
  14. Welcome to the site and congrats on your engagement! You'll get TONS of ideas from the ladies on here!
  15. I'm sorry that your family is acting like that. Believe me, you are not alone! Maybe it is better that they aren't coming. You don't want anyone upsetting you on your wedding day. Plus, you're probably upset about it now, but once you get to the Bahamas and your wedding festivities have begun your wedding is all you'll be focused on. Just enjoy the time with your brother and your uncle. BTW, congrats on getting into shape! And tell your mom its WAY harder to achieve when your an adult. You should be so proud of yourself. Have fun rockin' that wedding dress!
  16. Hi Chamlo! I was thinking about doing the same thing with coffee and chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I found a pretty good deal on the nuts at Island Princess, a company in Honolulu. I'm still looking into the coffee. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
  17. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a DJ service in Kauai?
  18. Can anyone recommend a good caterer that will do off-site catering on the North Shore?
  19. 40 year old virgin: Steve Carrell
  20. Thank you for posting this. I've been going nuts trying to find a design for our invitations! I never thought to download the stamp picture.
  21. I don't know how they are as far as actually having a wedding through them. I did contact them via email in February about doing a wedding with their company. I sent them my home phone number because Martina said that they prefer to talk over the phone. I never heard from her and ended up sending three different emails confirming that they had the correct phone number, which they did. I had to follow up with her each time they said that they would call to confirm that they were still going to call but they never did. It took them forever to get back to my emails and I never did recieve a phone call. I don't know if anyone else has had any luck with them, but I got so frusturated with them that I ended up saying forget it and went with someone else. Hope this helps!
  22. A $10,000 budget sounds reseaonable. You just need to shop around. We are having our wedding on Kauai on May 2010 with 40 guests and ours is going to cost about $10,000, but I asked everyone I talked to if they had group rates. Another thing that you might want to look into is flying with Hawaiian airlines. We got our tickets for $405 roundtrip from San Jose Airport. I know that they also have a credit card that you can apply for that will reward you with 20,000 bonus miles after your first purchase. As far as I know, it's 20,000 bonus miles for one roundtrip ticket to Kauai, so that may pay for one ticket and you can try to add up more points to see if it will pay for more (or at least part). Also, be sure to check the company website for their prices even after you've been quoted a group rate. I was quoted a group rate of $140 per night at a hotel and when I checked their website, their e-booking and weekly rates were $35 per night cheaper! We saved ourselves and our guests about $245 on accomodations by NOT doing the group rate. If you're looking for a private location on the beach and a reception location at the same place you should check out Hukilau Lanai on the East Shore. Manda, the coordinator is really nice and I think they waive the fee for the ceremony location if you do the reception there. Hope some of this helps and just remember research, research, research!
  23. Okay, its not EXACT, but I kept hearing all of the ladies on here talking about a dress site for wedding dresses called Landy's Bridal. It got some good reviews. Anyway, I found a dress under their Maggie Sottero section that is super similar to the Lavina dress. It just has some more jewels down the front and the back is slightly different. It's a European company, but once I converted the currency the dress came out to $353.65 US dollars! It said it takes 21-25 working days plus 7 shipping days to arrive. Check it out and be sure to read the reviews that other ladies on here have posted about the company just to make sure that nothing has changed. The website is landybridal.com. The dress code is HS9634. I hope this helps! You deserve the dress you want!
  24. For those of you that don't have a Dollar Tree close by, I was just there last week and they had a big sign in the window that said "Dollar Tree shopping is now available on-line". I haven't checked it out yet so I don't know if its true, but its worth a shot!
  25. Married in Maui, I am so glad to hear that you did just the coordinator and a luau. We're doing the same thing, and I too was worried that I would miss out on the first dance and cake cutting that you have at a traditional reception. I agree that having a wedding package that includes everything makes things easier and, in my experience cheaper. We're getting married on Kauai with 34 guests and our wedding with officiant, photographer, flowers, musician, leis, a champagne toast, wedding license and beach permit is going to be costing us less than $2,000. You just have to shop around and don't be afraid to ask for dicounts on everything. Most places that I have called have been really good about giving discounts.
