Most silks will shrink and loose their texture (become rough) when exposed to any water, let alone salt water. I think it's a safe bet that your dress would be ruined... but isnt that the point??

We played a good "ice breaker" style game - not really bridal shower specific, but it was good because I had 25ish women from different circles. It's the "famous couple" game - when they arrive, everyone gets the name of half of a famous couple pinned to their back, and by asking other ppl questions about themselves, have to figure out who is on their back. ie. someone will get "Brad" and someone else will get "Angelina". Once you figure out who you are, you have to find your match, and the first couple to do so wins. Like I said - not bridal shower specific, but people got to know eachother real quickly! Another fun one was the Lei game - everyone got a flower Lei coming in and were told that you couldn't say words like "Wedding", "Mexico" "(fiance's name)", or do something like cross their legs. If they say/do one of those things and someone catches them, they get their Lei stolen from them. Person with the most Leis at the end wins. This would work equally as well (and more hilariously) with things like sombreros, cheap flip flops, etc. We also played "Pictionary" in teams of 4 with romantic movie titles.

I understand your dilemma, but IMO invitations are a must! We sent out Save the Dates, then a year later we sent out an email with booking information and rates, since the group rates were only good for 2 weeks. We mentioned that a formal invitation would follow, and we sent those out shortly afterwards, but didnt' bother with RSVP cards or inserts (which saved us $$).

I vote after - ppl know you're super busy leading up to it, and a Thank You card with photos from your wedding, especially if they won't be joining you, will be much more appreciated!

Hey- I'm bummed no one has answered this! I wonder if there's another thread...? I'm currently debating jewelry myself - particularly the "bling" factor...ie, big dangly rhinestone earrings, or sparkly studs, etc. Was just wondering if its normal to go over the top...

Hey all - We're strongly considering the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya for our March 2010 wedding, but I'm getting a bit worried that there seems to be no other brides going there! What gives? Is there something I don't know? I'd love to hear from anyone who's either been to a GSRM wedding, or will be hosting one...

YIKES- after seeing all the gorgeous dresses on this forum, I finally understand how easy it would be to be a "two dress bride"... or even three or four... everyone looks stunning Here's my dress (I hope, first time photo poster!). She's an Allure Private Collection and we fell in love last fall. When I didnt' buy immediately I thought she might be the one that got away, but to my delight, the store still had her this spring, yay!

LOL- I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one out there! We're doing March 2010 (hopefully the 18th) on the Mayan Riviera. We sent out our STDs in October '09 since we're hoping to go to a pricier resort (maybe El Dorado Seaside?) and wanted to give people lots of time! Has anyone been able to start booking Canadian departures? My TA keeps telling me "any day now" for pricing, and I'm getting anxious... I just want to book a resort and start with all the details!

And thanks too to *becks* and *BachataBride* for the pics! it was a relief to see women with real cleavage wearing "v" cuts (and you both looked fabulous!), since the models who show the dresses are generally pretty small. funny thing is that i normally have no problem with cleavage and im pretty happy with my breasts, i was just concerned that it may be a big faux-pas for the wedding day. I won't be able to take pictures until I order it (the salon is very crazy about not taking pictures) but when i do I'll post and maybe I'll get some opinions on whether some "modesty alterations" are required thanks again!

I didnt even think of maybe adding a piece of lace, thats a great idea! I'm not exactly sure how it will fit, especially after the straps have been shortened, because the sample was two sizes too small. And sadly, the bridal shop was very adamant about no pictures, and I haven't been able to find the dress anywhere else in town I suppose when it comes down to it and if I'm uncomfortable, I could always add the extra fabric... thanks for the suggestion!

Alright, so I found a dress I absolutely love (sorry, not online so no pics), but it's a v-cut, and I'm a D-cup, so I'm a little shy on pulling the trigger and showing off the goods on the wedding day! It's not so bad that there's danger of a nip-slip or anything like that, but it's definite cleavage, and I'm worried that it might be tacky for a wedding day! What do you think? Is it more acceptable because we're getting married on the beach? Has anyone gone with some cleavage and received flack from anyone? I'll prolly still buy it anyway because I adore it, I just need a little reassurance
