  1. Welcome to the forum! You will love it, there are so many helpful brides! Enjoy your planning!
  2. I just realized you are from Chicago...go Midwest!!
  3. We are having our wedding at Dreams and are having 50 people. We are doing A La Carte and it's the way to go. Then you can personally choose who you want for your vendors and all the details. My fiance and I just got back from our site visit and it was fabulous. If you check out my review, it might be of some help to you. I just started the planning and it's great to talk with all the Dreams brides on here. Tammy who started this forum is actually a Dreams bride so all your questions can be answered right on this forum. It's a great tool especially when planning a destination wedding (cuz it's hard to get your questions answered). Let me know if you need anything else!

  9. I just finally got the chance to read your review! It was so helpful and I loved the ariel pictures (I actually printed them off). Thank you! So a couple questions with the set-up. Did you organize the layout or did Yesica? What is the station to the right? Is that where all the food is? Where is the bar or do the servers just bring you the drinks? I just want to make sure our guests will not have to walk away from the wedding to get drinks. I've been at weddings where people are over at the bar instead of dancing, which is muy mal! Ha! Also, what food choices did you end up having? Did I miss that somewhere? I've been contemplating on desserts and thought cupcakes were a great idea. Do you mind me asking how much 60 cupcakes were from Sweet Dreams? We may just go that route. Thanks for your help!!

We did not taste any of the cake flavors but I'm sure they taste great. We weren't going to do a cake since neither of us are big on cake. We thought we would choose a cheesecake and be done with it. We weren't too crazy with their cheesecake, so I'm beginning to wonder if I should do a small cake or even little cupcakes from Sweet Dreams. I did taste the strawberry mousse and loved it, so I'm sure the chocolate mousse is fabulous as well. We may just stick with those two options otherwise. I believe you can do a dessert along with your cake, but I would definitely ask.

I am interested in your trips to Dreams bc I am still quite torn bt Dreams and Riu. After some of the terrible stories I've read about Riu services, I'm leaning more toward Dreams. But I know that Dreams is older and I want to the best for my day (April 17, 2010). A couple of questions, if you don't mind 1) How clean and updated were the rooms? Did they offer toiletries for the guest? Would you consider them outdated? Do you have pics of the rooms? I really don't want any musty, mildewy, outdated facility for my wedding. 2) Did you visit Riu while you were in Cabo? If so, how does it measure up in terms of quality and service? I'm a super anal person when it comes to germs and cleanliness and I thought the rooms were exceptionally clean! All the furniture is new and the beds are comfy and clean. Usually the first thing I do when I'm staying at a resort/hotel is pull the top comforter and decorative pillows off the bed and at Dreams that didn't even cross my mind. Like I mentioned earlier, the cleaning ladies come in to clean twice a day and they do a very thorough job! One day Justin and I were down near the pool and we looked up to see all these cleaning people washing down each and every pole on the balcony!! I was also a bit leery prior to our trip about the rooms being moldy due to the open concept. I have allergies and had no problems throughout the duration of my stay. If you go on Dreams Los Cabos website there are pictures of the rooms and what you see is what you get. I would call ahead of your departure and request a room on the top floor so you're not stuck on the ground floor with no balcony.

I agree about the children part, there were alot that week (we stayed for 2). When we first arrived, on March 30th, there were less kids, and people in general. The resort was practically empty for the first week. We found that if we went over to the quiet pool by the Oceana terrace, it was much better and much more relaxing. That is so funny because I told Justin I recognized you from the forum too!! Ahha!! So how did everything go? Were you happy with Juan? He told me about your dress but I'm glad they fixed it and everything was fine. How was the reception? Was the food warm? My parents are worried about the food being cold since it's outside and they don't have covers (correct?). Who was your WC? Did you go to Desires after 10:30? We checked it out while staying at Dreams and it was pretty lame. I understand when you have your whole wedding party/guest it will be a world of a difference. I just know our friends are going to want to party after 10:30. I'm sure I'll be asking you many more questions if you don't mind. That is too funny we saw each other. We had an amazing time, so sad we're back. Take care!
  13. Dreams was AMAZING!! From the time we stepped foot off the shuttle to the minute we said good-bye, simply pure bliss! I'm going to try and make this as brief as possible. Service A+ The servers were so incredibly nice and catered to your every need. I read on here that it's a good idea to take singles for tips. We ended up bringing $100 in singles and I'm glad I did. It's not necessary to tip, but we felt it was important to show our appreciation. Maid service was good and very loyal. I never once felt as though I had to hide my valuables or money. In fact one day I left money out and they came in for turn down service, the money was still there! Resort A- The reason I give the resort an A- is due to the amount of children at the resort. I understand we went during spring break and that may be the reason for all the families. We just thought since this was an upscale resort there would not be many kids. Boy, were we wrong!! After the first day of sitting by the pool and listening to all the screaming and crying kids, we decided to lie down by the beach (which was fabulous). The actual structure of the building and cleanliness was outstanding! I loved the architecture and layout of the facility. We were super impressed with the workout room! The resort does a great job with their entertainment and providing fun activities for their guests. For example, I did a yoga class on the beach one morning. The workers take pride in where they work and it shows! Restaurants/Food Tasting A+ We were so impressed with the food at Dreams! We loved waking up in the morning and heading down to El Patio! They have a great breakfast buffet as well as a chef making personalized omelets. Seaside also has a good breakfast, but better dinners. We were NOT impressed with Portofino at all! We were first seated outside and there were so many kids running around, which shocked us because this was the “fancy-dress code†restaurant. We asked to be moved inside and got our food, which was not good at all. We loved Himitsu, we really like sushi. It takes awhile to get your food so it’s a good idea to order a lot! Ha! Himitsu was my second favorite place for dinner. We loved Oceana for dinner, which is my first pick for din-din!! Yum!! We also did our food tasting there and had a great experience. Here is what we decided on for our wedding dinner (we’re doing A La Carte)… Starters: Puff pastry with Portobello mushroom and asparagus Snow crab cakes Soup: Tortilla soup with shrimp (sooo good, be careful we ordered it for room service and it was not the same as Seaside’s tortilla soup) Cream of asparagus Dinner: Sea Bass Beef tenderloin Penne pasta with shrimp and scallops Dessert: we were not impressed with desserts, not sure on these options Strawberry mousse Ice cream on in candy bowl Oh and having 24 hour room service was the best thing on earth! We would come in from a long day in the sun and order salads before going out to dinner (since it takes a long time to get food). We are big nacho kids so having this option for every meal was fabulous! Ha! WC Yesica B+ We met with Yesica and thought she was very helpful. We were able to get a lot of questions answered but many we did not get a straight answer. We are hoping to get the unanswered questions in an email soon. I’ve read some really poor reviews on Yesica and I truly have to stand up for her. She has so many weddings she handles and she knows what she is doing. Many BDW brides are upset that she is not responding to their emails timely enough, but what they do not realize is Mexico is extremely laid back! They are not on their computers all hours of the day like us Americans. My advice to other brides would be to prioritize your questions. Ask Yesica the most important questions first and ask her to answer those specific questions so you get a straight answer. The other option would be to talk with her via phone, I personally do not like doing this because you won’t have written documentation of your conversation. I like to print out my emails so I have them for my binder/files. Yesica is very knowledgeable and is good at what she does. I’ve never heard a bride disappointed with her after the wedding, which is a good thing. I’m planning on giving her a complete itinerary of my wedding day so she knows exactly what she needs to do on that day. I would also highly recommend a site visit if you are able to make the trip. It’s so worth it to know what you are going to get and to see the resort. For those who are unable, take my word you will have an amazing wedding! This resort is beautiful and your wedding will be unforgettable for all of your guests! Here are my Site Visit photos: Flickr: tara.krebs' Photostream

  15. Thank you for the wonderful review. We leave for Dreams tomorrow morning and cannot wait to check everything out! We scheduled a food tasting as well so I will bring back lots of pics and details. We've decided to do A La Carte so it will be interesting what we decide on. We are also meeting with Juan Carlos Tapia, so excited!! Talk to you all when I return! Hooray!

  17. Hooray!!! The planning is finally over and you can just enjoy your time! Have an amazing wedding! I would love to hear about the food situation as well. What your meal choices were, did you like them, was the food hot since the dinner is outside, etc. Can't wait to hear all about it and see the beautiful pictures. Safe travels!

Tammy, do you know if I would be able to make a reservation at one of Dream's restaurants for my welcome dinner? Providing all my guests are staying at Dreams.
