  1. I most certainly think you can do it on your own. There are so many knowledgeable brides on here to help you through it. I'm doing the planning on my own but am also getting married at a resort. There are many vendors on this forum who live in Cabo that are more than willing to assist as well. Good luck!

Also note that Men's Wearhouse gets spring/summer suits in sometime in March so check with the manager to see what styles they will be getting in - you still have plenty of time. Good luck. Thank you so much Michelle! It was very reassuring to hear you went with Men's Wearhouse and that I still have time! We toyed around the idea and were just feeling badly asking our groomsmen to come to our DW and buy a suit. When looking at prices, renting a tuxedo can cost up to $150, so why not buy a suit for a bit more and keep it forever. I'm glad to hear your gm were okay with the idea. You completely put me at ease! Thank you for your help!
  3. Does anyone know of a place in Cabo that rents suits? I've searched on the forum and haven't had any luck. I'm looking for a khaki linen or light weight suit. Our gm are coming from different states and with all their stay being over 7 days, I'm hoping to go the cheaper route and rent them directly from Cabo. No such luck thus far. Jim's Formal Wear online seems too heavy as do many other tuxedo places. I may just have the guys purchase a suit at Men's Warehouse if we can get a good deal. Any help would be appreciated!
  4. Thanks for the info Tammy! I just got back from a wedding in Puerta Vallarta and their rehearsal dinner was not private or reserved. We waiting over an hour for dinner and they still could not accommodate for our group of 20. We were all tired from traveling and extremely hungry. Right there and then, my FI and I made the executive decision that a private event is well worth the extra money. We do not want our guests to feel under appreciated. Not to mention, the extra couple hundred dollars is worth the peace of mind you will get for having everything organized and planned. Your guests' first impression is priceless if you ask me!
  5. I've decided on Juan Carlos Tapia due to his fabulous work. My FI and I had the opportunity to meet him during our site visit to Dreams and he was more than pleasant and professional. If you get a chance you can look on his website or other BDW bride reviews to view his work. He is a bit pricey but worth every penny. Our experience with him thus far has been more than wonderful. Good luck with your decision!
  6. Thanks Ana! What time did you have the dinner? I worry because Justin and I had to wait for a table quite often last April. We also were eating later in the evening. I think I'm going to go with your suggestion. People will be happy to see one each other so the wait won't be bad if it comes down to it.

  8. Sarah, did you have to pay the $29/person fee that they have in place for the private parties? I feel strongly about providing for my guests and showing our appreciation for their long travels but I also do not want to pay an arm and a leg for something that everyone is already paying for. Hmmm, which option to do Also, did you enjoy the food? My FI and I ate there only once and weren't completely satisfied but that could have been just the plate we got.
  9. Hooray!! I'm actually getting married June 25, 2010 at Dreams Cabo. It's a beautiful resort and very professional staff. I can't wait! Happy planning!
  10. Ana, so you had no problem with the staff moving tables together for all your guests? We were thinking of doing a welcome event but decided against the extra costs and were planning on meeting at Rondevous for cocktails instead. Hmm...if we can pull off a dinner at El Patio, that's even better. I'm having Mariana set up a Wii Tournament for the evening event...hehe, how fun, right?

  12. Lola is amazing to work with and responds to emails by the next day. From her photo gallery it seems as though her work is beautiful as well.
  13. Both slideshows were amazing! We decided to go with Juan as well and are looking forward to working with him. Congrats on your beautiful wedding!
  14. My fiance and I decided on Dreams for a plethora of reasons. We vacationed there last April and loved it. The staff treats you like kings and queens. They cater to your every need and your vacation is completely 100% stress-free. My wedding planning has gone very smooth and you are able to get in contact with your wedding coordinator at ease. Like stated previously, Dreams is very professional and have conducted many of weddings. I feel completely secure with our decision with Dreams for our destination wedding. Good luck!!!
  15. I have never been more impressed with a vendor than Suzanne Morel. She is fabulous! I am in the beginning stages of working with her and she exemplifies professionalism, perfectionism, character and class. She does a lot of her work via email of course but also sets up phone conferences with you to ensure she knows exactly what you want. She is such a sweet lady and I'm cannot wait to have my wedding in her hands. We set up a spa day with my BMs and mom the day before my wedding and it sounds like it will be perfect. I would highly recommend using Suzanne Morel for your hair and make-up!!!
  16. We are getting married the end of June... I am also a teacher and had little flexibility with my schedule. I am having it at the outside gazebo at Dreams and requesting my guests be seated in the shade. I was told May and June were the best months to get married because of the weather. It's suppose to obviously be hot but it's a different hot than most of us are thinking. It's not the humid Mexico hotness but more of a California hotness (hence the Baja location). Cabo is very breezy which helps. I also had my friend and her husband express concerns for how hot it would be and I just explained that there are always options of being in the pool, under shade, in AC room, etc. What would we do if we were in our hometown and it was blazing hot? Go in the AC. It's no different. After our little debate, they've now decided to make the trip! It's about traveling for a wedding and spending time with friends/family. It's going to be an amazing time regardless of the temp. I did just speak with Suzanne Morel tonight and asked how the weather was lately. She mentioned they got a lot of rain last week but it was due to the hurricane. You should be fine for July but I would not recommend having a wedding in August or September from what she told me. I'm sure it would be fine but you never want to take the chances of poor weather during your wedding.
  17. I too am looking for starfish for my tables. I am looking for the orange ones but I know which ones you are looking for as well. I found the orange and white ones at Walmart and they are $2 each. The problem is there are only 2 per box so I'm trying to figure out if Walmart will order 15 boxes for me. I am planning on having the starfish in a rectangular tin filled with sand and putting our guest names/table number tied to each starfish. That way our guests will select their starfish and bring it to the table, which will add great decoration to the table. Thought I'd share my idea
  18. If you have your wedding at the gazebo, the closest restaurant is El Patio, which is only open for breakfast (from what I remember). There is another restaurant called Seaside and that is more by the pool so the guest shouldn't be all up in your business We have decided to do the cocktail hour at El Patio for this reason. They set up a large appetizer table on the grass right beside the restaurant and some tall small tables for your guests. I believe your guest just help themselves. I am also doing a signature drink of tequila sunrise punch for my guests. We then are having our dinner at Oceana so it's a bit more private. When we were there we didn't like the fact that the Cascada Terrace was right by the main pool (out in the open) and people were fairly close to your wedding. At the Oceana Terrace you are set up by the adult pool and it's tucked in the corner of the resort. They do set out a sign stating it is a private event/party and people do respect that. If you have any other questions Alex Teas, let me know! We'll have to help each other since our weddings are a month apart! How exciting!

  20. I am using Suzanne Morel and am very impressed with her thus far. She is very professional and organized. She does phone consultations and documents everything you need done for the big day. Her team comes to your resort and sets up a beautiful arrangement with flowers, etc. before beginning with hair and make-up. I don't have my prices right in front of me but I believe hair is $110 for long, $80 for medium length. Trial for hair is $60 I want to say and the trail needs to take place at her salon. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about her and I would highly recommend Suzanne Morel.
