  1. Sandra- I will definately take lots of pics! Also, we booked through Apple too. Our prices weren't quite as good as Amy's...but they were pretty similar. I would definately call several travel agents and Apple. Be up front- tell them that you are shopping around and the best price will get your business. Good luck!
  2. Hey Cara! I'm getting married at the Palace too! Our day is July 1, 2010. We are in the process now for booking a site visit this June...so if you want me to find anything out or take any pictures when I'm down there, let me know!
  3. This is a great review! I am definately going to look into Carlos!
  4. How far ahead of your wedding do you have to book the DJ?? These reviews look great!
  5. Hi all! I have been searching high & low for a church & Riviera Maya for a Catholic Ceremony. I have finally found one at the Barcelo Maya Palace that I love. I searched on the forum, and have not found any recent information on churches. I thought it might be helpful to start a thread on church options for other newbies (because I feel their pain!) Maybe if we could give as much information about the church it would be helpful to other brides (i.e. if the church is on or off the resort, how many people it sits, if the priest speaks English, etc.)
  6. Hi Barbara! I am a teacher too! Along with my parents, maid of honor, FI's dad, & brother in law....hahaha we have lots of teachers! We were originally doing the last week in June, but then bumped it to July 1 for the same reason. I'm not sure what is next. I emailed Victoria, but she hasn't gotten back to me. How many people are you expecting? Do you have rates for travel yet?
  7. I really don't have any updates...I've hit kind of a standstill. They were getting back to us quickly in the beginning & now.....not so much.....

I wanna meet someone who is getting married around the same time as me =) Barbo & Maegan: I am getting married July 1 at the Barcelo as well!!! Where are you girls looking to have your reception?

I hope they are at least a little flexible thanks I am negotiating with the Barcelo Palace right now. We wanted to change a few things as well. I'll know more tomorrow & let you know.
  10. Thanks for the tips! It seems like you had a great time!
  11. Not sure why that posted twice? ....but I should have mentioned, that I have seen the fruit centerpieces, but are there other options? Do they seem like they are happy to work with you to personalize your wedding (with cost of course)?
  12. Sandra I feel your pain!!! I am really interested in the Barcelo...it's what we are leaning towards...but I want to know prices for upgrades and extras before we make a final decision. I've seen the packages....what are the options within the packages? Does anyone know there options for flowers, cakes, meals, or cocktail hour? I could really use some help!

I'll let you know if I find anything.
  15. Hi all! I need some help! EDR was the first resort we looked at, but it won't work for us (we have kids attending & the other Karisma resorts are too expensive for our guests). The problem is, every other resort's wedding options don't seem to live up to what I've seen at EDR! So now... we are debating staying at another resort nearby & having the ceremony & reception at EDR. Does anyone know if that is possible or have any advice I really love what I've seen. All the pictures seem beautiful, and it SEEMS like you can make it a bit more of your own, than some of the other standard packages at other resorts..... but I'm also concerned because it seems like they have a lot more "hidden fees" & additional costs than some of the other resorts. Does anyone have any ideas or advice for me? I'm Catholic, so I have to get married in a chapel.
  16. Yes! I also really want a steel drum band, so I'd also really appreciate any information or advice!
  17. Hello 2010 Brides!!! It's so refreshing to know that I'm not alone in my happiness...excitement...and frustration! Rainfall & Cara- I'm the same as both of you! I can't stop looking at resorts! Now I think it's been more counterproductive because I am confusing myself & making the choice harder! I need to buckle down & come to a decision!
  18. Hi all! My name is Beth. My fiance & I are looking to get married the last week in June 2010 in the Riviera Maya. We are running into a lot of problems though because we are Catholic and are trying to find a resort with a chapel. If anyone has any advice let me know!! Thanks!
