  1. Pandabride6- I'm doing my ceremony on the west lawn, next to the gazebo by the beach. It's ok, but I'm opting to overlook the ocean. This location is pretty public, it's next to the main pool and I expect guests will be watching. My ceremony time is 6:00 so I'm hoping the pool won't be at max capacity. My reception is at the wedding gazebo, it's pretty secluded and has a big lawn. The Sugar Mills site is super pretty and very secluded. Both are a walk and off to the side of the resort. It's really lush with lots of trees and flowers. At night, it's really romantic. Good Luck picking!
  2. this is great info! I'm very excited! thanks for sharing
  3. I have the info for the resort photographer, send me a pm or email me at [email protected] I'm happy to pass along the info I have. Also, I met him last week while I was at the resort. I don't think the pics on the site are his. I didn't go with him, I'm bringing a photographer from home.
  4. I will figure out how to post pics. I ditched the pool deck all together, it's really big and super nice. It over looks the pool and the ocean. Part of it is covered and there is a bar. It's really very nice, but there are windows the whole length of the building. I just imagined people on the other side watching the reception all night. I'll have my reception at the Wedding gazebo. It's next to hotel rooms, but most of the guests seemed to be at the restaurants and onsite bars in the evening. I am bringing a dj, a good friend, and renting the equipment. I'm thinking I'll just do corresponding flowers (once I pick them) in the gazebo. I saw a couple small weddings but nothing bigger than a group of 15. All were very pretty but just basic. I'm glad I can share a little to pass along the excitement!

  7. southparkhou - congrats on the pick, the hardest part is over!
  8. Rosehall Bride- I didn't see the Cinnamon Ball Room, I'm soo sorry about that. I did love both gazebos! There is one on the west lawn, this one is right next to the ocean. The other is in the gardens with a good size lawn. I liked it so much that I'm doing my reception there! I'm happy to pass along a couple of pics if anyone is interested. So here is what I thought of the resort: food - pretty good, The 3 Palms, was ok...but Jamaica isn't were you go for a steak. So it was good enough. The buffet, breakfast was great...dinner was nothing spectacular, but good. My fiance stuck with the build your own stir fry and it was great. The italian restaurant was really wonderful and lunch by the pool or at Mangoes is great! I loved the jerk chicken and jerk pork. In fact, I put the pork on my reception menu. service - everyone from the staff is top notch from the pool sider servers to the maid staff is genuinely helpful, nice and very pleasant. decor- the resort is beautiful, I as very impressed and excited to bring my wedding guests! activities - the pool is fun, the evening kareoke and band are entertaining, the beach has plenty of chairs, the water park is lots of fun. We had massages on the beach from the spa staff, this is a must do! The spa staff was professional and the spa rivals any that I've been to in the states. There are lots of nice staff to help with row boats, sail boats and wind surfing on the beach. I feel like I made a wonderful choice with the Rose Hall Hilton, I'm so excited for my wedding to be in such a special place. let me know if I can help with anything or if anyone has questions bout the resort! T!

  13. I'll be at the resort the second week of October, I'll be sure to check out both. I picked my locations yesterday, ceremony on the west lawn and reception on the pool deck! I'm excited it's all feeling real now! Oh and just to update, I'm happy with the rates my TA has been quoted. thanks TA Maureen, your knowledge is super helpful! How's it going for everyone? I'm really interested in scoping out some weddings while I'm there, I also want to talk with the florist they use. And, I'm interested in seeing how the food is. hope all is going well for you Ladies! T
  14. I'll be going to the Rose Hall resort in October for a planning visit! I'll take lots of pictures and scout things out! Let me know if you have any particulars you are interested in. I haven't decided where to do the ceremony or reception. Has anyone negotiated the room rates? I finally got a TA and I was surprised at how little of a discount the rate was for a group. I'm interested in how much other brides have seen the rates discounted? I'm happy to trade info i'm tlove41@hotmail
  15. this is what I have so far. I need to complete the wedding party and add travel info when I have it. I will also include some of the pictures from our engagement shoot. Jonathan & Tauri - wedding website by mywedding.com
  16. I've gotten some vague answers back from Charline at the resort, I just sent an email with some pretty direct questions. Here is a questions, did you pay for one night of each of the rooms you blocked? Are you girls using a TA? I'm not sure what to do from here....and I have no direction outside this forum but that i more than I can go into here!
  17. does anyone know the name of the photographer they use? the video on the site is by sungold, I'm wondering if that's who they use. food- I'm thinking of doing plated dinners with a seafood bar.
  18. I'm at the same point and would love to hear some arguments for and against using a TA. Will I get better rates using one?

  21. Great question, I'm looking for the same information. We talked about this last night and I think it would be fun to get off the resort. I found the Houseboat Grill and it looks great, does anyone have recomendations or thoughts?
  22. I'm silly excited about this whole wedding business now that I've chosen my resort! rosehallbride, the contact I have is Charline, [email protected] T(876) 953 - 2650 EXT 4018 She is really pretty good about emailing me back pretty quickly. She has been great about answering all of my questions. I have reserved my time, because I'm doing the Twlight Package.
  23. I reserved the Rose Hall today! My date is May 28, 2010. I'm super excited and so happy I changed resorts. Nothing against the Riu Tropical Bay, I just think the Rose Hall is a better fit for my group. I get nothing but ohhhs and ahhhs when I mention it! Now I guess I'll channel all this excitement into bridesmaids' dresses and a dress for me too!
