I LIke the privacy idea for a wedding. Ill have to start looking more into villas, all of the "minimums" at PF are our biggest concern!! I def don't mind doing a little more coordinating/planning, I think that's half the fun!! (but probably the majority of the stress at the same time!) would you mind sharing pics Thanks!! PS I hope this doesn't post all goofy, I'm on my phone on the elliptical machine!! Ah, multi-tasking at its finest ah, the elliptical. i must get back onto one of those before long... the villa is so much more than renting a person's home - but totally dependent upon what you choose. i would be happy to share pictures with you - for now, feel free to go to my wedding website, www.ducksandgoggles.com if you click on casa folk, you will see info, but we also made a little video tour and walked thru the property so our guests could see what they are getting themselves into. also, go ahead into the fotografias tab and you'll see a mexico album...there are pix of the casa there as well. in addition, i have a whole kodakgallery of pictures from the property that i can show you. i'll do some digging, when i first starting looking, one of the other brides sent me her kodakgallery link and she went to a few different spots. email me your email at [email protected] and i'll send you some links and more info!!

Do they have staff there/restaurants on site? How about wedding coordinator? Or do you bring in all of your own vendors? Also, then, where do you have your ceremony? Can you do it at the villa & have to find a minister, or are you going off site? Thanks so much for your help!!!! we looked into playa fiesta as well, and it would have been a great option - but not for us. they wanted too long of a minimum stay and too many guaranteed rooms. i'm so glad it didn't work out because i personally think the villa route is going to be a much more unique, less "hotel-y" experience that fits in with our crowd of friends a bit more. PF is essentially a mini-all inclusive hotel (mini, because it's just all you can drink) and with a villa - you can think of it as your own hotel...tailor made to your specifications. the villas are exactly as you thought - you rent the whole thing out and that's it! they come fully staffed and there is no need for a restaurant because the staff will cook to order (of course this is all arranged in advance). most would require you bring your own WC and vendor. many can accommodate a wedding on-site. we are staying in a villa along with 36 of our closest friends/family and having our wedding off-site at las caletas. all of our friends are totally stoked and can't wait to stay there! there are soooo many villas to choose from but i'm partial to Villas in Vallarta (cuz we're staying there!!). they do host weddings here as well, BEAUTIFUL weddings because the setting is just right. you can see their wedding packages on their site. a friend of a friend got married there in december and shared her pix with me - they were amazing. there are a few other brides on this thread staying there, too. don't know if this helps, but my suggestion to you is crunch the numbers, really explore your options with different villas and determine if you would rather have it all a tad bit easier at an all-inclusive type hotel or put a little more coordination into a villa wedding. you can't go wrong either way! woah woah...sorry for the rambling...i've been studying for a ridiculous exam allllll night long and this is my first break

How much should people pay?
miss di replied to jawedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
flight, hotel and a little bit of spending money (food, excursions, shopping, etc) that we've factored in - it's going to end up costing about $1,000 - $1,200pp. this is for 4-nights. the flight saves a lot of $$$ cuz a nonstop from san francisco and LA to puerto vallarta is only about $300 with taxes. when we first started looking we were getting some outrageous figures, too...so just keep looking. my eyeballs were bright red and in so much pain from all the searching i was doing. i would say determine what you want out of your DW - what kind of vibe? do you want the all-inclusive? do you want to take over a small hotel with all of your friends and family? this makes a huge difference. we are taking over 2 adjacent properties which will sleep 38ppl comfortably. we are charging ppl based on the cost of the room, so we are putting people that we know are on a budget into rooms together (again, still very comfortably) and room prices are ranging from $53pp - $117pp/per night. it works out GREAT this way, because those that are broke are getting away with about $200pp for the 4nt stay and those that can afford it are still getting a steal. also - the first price is never the last price. remember that!! if you go for a smaller spot - don't be afraid to negotiate... good luck on your search! -

jaime - a coed beach party at a strip club sounds freaking awesome and SO FUN!! that right there says a lot about you guys as a couple - you must like to party! screw the brother and his opinions - this is all about you guys, and i bet the second you get to the strip club the brother's gonna have a huge *you know what* looking at all the hotties in panties so he'll be happy either way. about the BM - she's totally outta line to back out like that and i think you really need to have a talk with her and tell her that the best gift you could get is to have a great night out with martin and all of your friends...coed beach party at a strip club sounds so much more memorable than a quickie lingerie party. that's just my $.02 and i am so sorry you are dealing with all of this drama. hell, if i lived near you, i'd step in and coordinate all the strip club happenings for sure! your philosophy of "screw it and move on" is a good one, but in this situation, fight for it, lady. your BM sounds like she's being just a bit selfish...the bro sounds a little disappointing. i dunno if this helps, but i'm behind you! -
welcome to the forum!! i say plan away! PV is an awesome spot and you will not be sorry. if you want any suggestions, i'm happy to help - also, fellow san franciscan, can't beat the short and cheap nonstop flight from SFO-PVR! congrats!!

to dryclean...or not to dryclean??
miss di replied to miss di's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
thanks, ladies! i will try to call the salon...i guess i've been hesitant because i don't know think they are even open any more!! it was sak's bridal salon though, so maybe regular sak's women's dept can help. i'm sure whoever it is that will do my alterations will be able to recommend a drycleaner. call me crazy, but i have this ridiculous fear of bringing my dress into a drycleaner! lol. -
so i'm a little bit lost and unsure of what to do. i bought my dress about a month ago and i'm getting married in a year. so! here's the thing: it was a sample, which means it's got a little dirt around the hem, but other than that it's pretty clean. should i not bother drycleaning it at all because i need to get the hem chopped off anyway?...and because i'm getting married on a beach where it's going to get dirty... if i should clean it - any of you brides that happen to be in the bay, i would love some referrals of a good drycleaner. i'm soooo scared to bring my dress to one! also, i've been told to wrap it in a white sheet in the garment bag to store it. will this prevent it from yellowing? do i even need to worry about yellowing over the course of a year? thanks in advance for any advice on this...
