Probably (do you speak Spanish?) I think that a priest in your parish has to forward all of your completed prerequisites to the diocese in Mexico where you will marry...it may even need to be your local bishop that does it, I forget. Talk to your priest or whoever will prepare you, they know the rules. Also, your Catholic ceremony must be done inside of a church and although is religiously binding, it does not make you legally married when you return home. You also need to have a civil ceremony, either in the U.S. or in Mexico. 3) Do you have any say in terms of what is said at the ceremony (what readings are done, vows, etc.)? Not sure but I would imagine yes 4) Are you obligated to do a full mass with communion or can I choose not to? Not sure but I would imagine you may need to do a full mass as it is a traditional country 5) Has anyone used a bilingual priest that they really liked and would recommend? Not me! Here are Catholic churches in PV in case you don't have a list: Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish (Parroquia de Guadalupe) Hidalgo #370 Downtown Puerto Vallarta Tel: 222-1326 Sacred Cross Parish (Parroquia de la Santa Cruz) Lázaro Cárdenas #395 at Aguacate Tel: 222-0989 Our Lady of the Refuge Parish (Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Refugio) Corner of Perú and Argentina Tel: 222-4980 San Rafael Parish (Parroquia San Rafael) Calle Jamaica Tel: 222-2440 Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (Templo Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) Plaza Paritzica # 17 Col. Above & to the right is the search function where you can look it up. Also google is your friend, search for this topic and you'll find what you need. Good luck! Hi, I'm planning a catholic ceremony in PV as well but I can't seem to get through when calling the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe...I keep getting error messages. This is a silly question but, how do you dial out to them? I've tried 011-52-1-322-222-1326 and 011-52-322-222-1326 and I keep getting a message saying that the call can't be completed as dialed. Appreciate any help you can give me! Marie-Laine
  2. Sorry to jump in and go a little off topic but can anyone provide me with the full phone number of the Cathedral of Guadalupe? I found the phone number online but it doesn't include the area code. Even after searching and trying possible area codes, I keep getting error messages when I try to call. Thanks in advance for your help! Marie-Laine

Hi Heather, Have you decided on a villa yet? I was able to get a few pictures of the interior and the outdoor palapas at Casa Palapas...I'll see if I can post it on here tonight when I get off from work. The interior is a little outdated...Priscilla actually doesn't like the interior too much and I agree--furnishing could use some work--but the exterior is really my main concern since the villa itself is too small to fit my family anyway. If I remember correctly, the villa has 5 bedrooms and is just a couple of villas down from a much nicer and larger villa that you can use for accommodations (this other villa does not allow weddings to be held there). Since I need to send out save the dates asap, I'm opting to just book the place before I actually see it in person. Otherwise, my guests may not have enough time to save and ask for the days off from work. That makes me a little nervous but based on what people have said about Prisar and Priscilla, I think it'll be fine. She seems to have good taste. I am, however, planning to visit the site soon after we book it so I get an idea of how much we need to decorate and to meet Priscilla in person to discuss other details--planning for that to happen either this month or next month. If you haven't already booked a place by then, I can give you more info on the place and area. Let me know if you hear anything more about the place and the area! Marie-Laine
  5. Hi Heather, I emailed Priscilla last night about getting more info on the villa and some interior pics. When I hear back from her, I'll pass on the information. The exterior pics look promising though! I hope the interior is just as nice Marie-Laine
  6. Hi everyone - I'm trying to decide on a venue for my Nov 09 wedding and was presented with an option of having it at Casa Palapas in Nuevo Vallarta by Priscilla from Prisar. Let me say first of all that she has been very on top of responding to my emails, despite the busy season, and we haven't even signed the contract yet! She has set a very good impression thus far Anyway, back to my question. Has anyone ever been to Casa Palapas? Can you tell me how the interior is and how many rooms it has? It looks beautiful on the outside and has that right amount of Mexican charm that I've been looking for. Also, is it a reasonable distance from downtown PV and does the area feel overly Americanized or do you still feel like you're in Mexico? I'm only asking because I know that it's a much more recently developed area than PV and I don't want to lose that Mexican charm too much. I plan on visiting the area next month but I want to get as much info as I can before I go. Thanks! Marie-Laine
  7. oh yeah...budget is still in the works. Trying to keep it under 20K for about 65-80 guests...hope that works!
  8. November 2009 bride here! I'm planning on having mine in Puerto Vallarta and I'm WAY behind on my planning compared to you! I'm trying to pin down a venue still, which I hope to have confirmed by February and will be visiting the area around then as well. I've picked out colors--Pool and Granite (from Paper Source) for that beachy feel. MOH and BM's have been selected as well as the groomsmen but that's about it...I have other ideas for details floating in my head but I don't want to get too attached to them until I confirm my venue. As for the weather in PV, I hear Nov is one of the best times of the year to go...rainy season is over and weather is around 80 degrees. I can't wait to get to the point where you are...I think that's where the fun really begins Marie-Laine

My Wedding planners were going to visit both Villas and figure out which would be best for the reception this week. I am going to talk to Stewart with Plush this week as well to figure out what options to choose from. Very excited!!! Hi Lupe, The villas that you are renting are beautiful! Would you mind sharing the rates for each villa for the week and, if you have it available, how much the event fee would be at either of these villas? Thanks! Marie-Laine

  11. Hi - I'm planning to have my wedding in PV sometime in November this year and am seriously considering Las Caletas, as the packages that they offer seem very affordable. Ideally, I'd like to visit LC before I book anything but that may not be possible if I want to send my Save the Date cards out soon. Can anyone tell me if there was anything about the place that they disliked, however minor it was? Do you know how much the fee is for the boat ride to LC for my guests? I'd like to work the fee into my budget so that my guests won't have to shell out more than they have to for my wedding. Also, I've tried sending a couple of inquiries through the Adventure Weddings site last Wednesday or Thursday but I haven't heard back. I haven't tried calling them yet but do they usually take a few days to respond? Just making sure that they weren't having site or email problems... And my final question (for now), has anyone had a wedding at a church in PV and then just had the reception at Las Caletas? It sounds like it would be a difficult thing to time because of the boat ride over. I know the answers to some of my questions may be hidden somewhere in this thread but this thread is pretty massive! Appreciate any help and tips for LC that you can give. Thanks!
  12. Hi Kathy, I'm somewhat new to this forum (haven't been active since I signed up) but now I really have to step on it with my planning, as I haven't picked a venue yet for my November 2009 wedding. Do you know if this villa has a wedding coordinator included with it for event only bookings? Marie-Laine
  13. Hi - I am new to this forum and am planning to have my wedding in PV in Nov '09....curious to see what you found in terms of venues and wedding coordinators. I'm planning on paying a visit before the end of the year to check out a few places in person myself so any tips on what to checkout and what not to bother with will help out a bunch. Thanks and I can't wait to read about your scouting trip!
