So I did it...I went for my first fitting with the seamstress! And it was actually quite fun! :-) The seamstress is SUPER nice and totally seems to know what she's doing...I found out she actually does the costumes for Vancouver Opera, so I'm sure my dress is in good hands:-) She's also going to a make a bow-tie for my FI out of some fabric I had bought...whoo-hoo! And I was really worried she was going to charge an arm and a leg (you, know, the good ol' "bridal" mark-up:-))...but it's going to be $200 -- which I think is totally reasonable! The one thing I forgot to do...AGAIN...bring a camera...so no pics:-( BUT, I have my second fitting next weekend, and I'll TRY to remember to bring a camera so I can post a pic!:-) Oh, and BTW, Kevsgirl -- I was right next to a Pier 1 today, so I went in to see if they had any of those beach mats for you...they didn't:-(

Hey ladies! So, I'm not sure if any of you are far enough into planning that you've noticed the reception menus they send out are not very descriptive... For example, it lists "Dreams Salad" as an option but doesn't say what exactly is IN the Dreams Salad...And it just says "surf and turf" without saying what exactly the surf and turf is... So, it has taken me a MONTH and SEVERAL e-mails to get some more information on the menu items , but I FINALLY heard back from Cecilia this morning! Whew. So, in hopes of saving someone else the time and energy it took to get this info, I'm posting her response here:-) HOPEFULLY, it will help SOMEONE!:-) ********** Appetizers: > Can you tell me more about what the "mexican tapas sampler" consists of..? – Traditional Mexican appetizers; mini empanadas, mini chicken tacos, mini tamales, mini quesadillas etc… > 3. Arhoyaltres -- did you get things sorted out with Secrets Capri...?? What happened with that...? Did they move the other wedding time, or give you some money back...? (Or was it a DT bride who is now back at DT...? Kevsgirl -- LOVE the shoes and the BM dresses! ALMOST makes me want to wear heels instead of flip flops:-) But our ceremony AND reception are on the beach...so my blinged-out flip flops it is!:-) It's Friday night...nearly 10pm...and here I sit at home, making our placecards while my FI plays video games:-) Exciting lives we lead, non? :-) I actually got our wedding programs, table numbers and (almost) the placecards done tonight...I ran out of glue...so can't finish tonight:-( Also, I've asked the WC at my resort, SERIOUSLY, like ten times to let me know what's in some of the different menu options...(e.g., the menu they sent me lists salads like "dreams cancun"...well, that the heck is IN that )...and she STILL has not let me know!! Okay ladies...I did it! I finally booked my appointment for alterations! EEEEK I'm going on Sunday...wish me luck:-) Amy...hope everything's going well for you...haven't checked the DT closure thread in a few days, but last I read there was some HOPE that the early December brides would be okay to stay at DT...but I also know that could change in a heartbeat... Everyone else...home stretch!!! And yet, my to-do list, instead of getting smaller, seems to just get bigger, even though I'm ticking things off everyday...it's like it has a life of its own:-)

Yay Kevsgirl! Going for a fitting! I think I'm going in about two weeks...maybe sooner...but I'm worried about the same thing...losing/gaining weight! I am actually a little bit nervous about the whole getting-the-dress-altered-thing...weird, right? I'm just worried something horrible will happen...I've read some horror stories, and I really wish I hadn't, b/c otherwise I don't think I would give it another thought:-) I'm actually also worried about how much the alterations will cost! But $300 sounds about average...if I have to pay $300, I'm okay with that...it's if I have to pay $500 or more that I won't be happy:-) Kevsgirl -- did you just go through the bridal salon...? My FI FINALLY figured out what he's going to wear! Whoo-hoo! That's a BIG thing off the to-do list...My FI is like a two-year-old that way...doesn't do ANYTHING unless I nag him, haha:-) Also, I finally have the first dress I ordered...I have to take some pics of me in that dress so I can sell it! But my FI won't help me with that (he says he doesn't want to see what i'm NOT wearing b/c it might give him hints as to what I AM wearing:-)), so I have to wait for my girlfriend to come over and take pics:-) Other than that, I've mostly been busy with getting timelines done for various vendors etc.... And getting excited about going to Mexico! Whooo!!!! How 'bout the other ladies?? Amy...I REALLY hope DT has told you SOMETHING by now about where your wedding will be...?

dbellie1414 -- wow -- thanks for doing all that legwork! Who knew there was a MAC in Playa Del Carmen?? That is a GREAT idea! If you could please keep us/me posted on what happens with this, I'd really appreciate it! I could always use my resort's salon, I just really want a back-up if they're not very good...(I"m planning on doing a trial a couple days before the wedding...but it's a relatively new resort, so I haven't been able to read any reviews on whether the salon make-up and hair is any good...).... THANKS!!

I just wanted to clarify, in case I came across as sounding harsh about the possibility of a DT bride being moved to your resort...:-) As I said, I know the DT brides are going through hell right now and SHOULD be acommodated at another resort! My only point was, that the resort shouldn't allow two weddings at the SAME time....Sigh
