They sent me their bouquets files/cakes files/and the Q&A for the wedding (we're doing a symbolic wedding only) - so if you need anything let me know and I can definitely share info as well, although the other ladies who will be there in December will have more information faster I'm sure!! Does anyone have details about the live music options at the resort? We want to book the mariachi for the ceremony and cocktail reception, but the prices are pretty steep ($650 for 45 minutes!) - although the pricing guide says that they are willing to negotiate if you purchase more than one 45-minute block. Anyone had an experience with this? Thanks! Hey there! I thought the prices for music were pretty steep too, so I posted a new thread asking for any help on this... The best suggestion so far seems to be going through this company: Ajua Weddings - Playa del Carmen Wedding Music, Guitar, Flute, Harp, Violin, Mariachis, Riviera Maya, Cancun, Mexico It's a wedding planning company but the girl who posted it said like mots of us she doesn't need a planner (b/c she has the resort's planner), but for a $100 co-ordination fee this company was willing to arrange musicians for her. The prices are a LOT cheaper than going through Secrets! EVen after paying the Secrets $100 outside vendor fee, plus the company's $100 co-ordination fee -- it's still cheaper... I've sent them an e-mail asking for some information, and when I hear back I'll post what they say:-)
  2. "Hope this helps"?? That's the understatement of the year! This is FANTASTIC information!!! Even after paying the outside vendor fee at my resort, AND the company's co-ordination fee -- IT'S STILL CHEAPER THAN THE RESORT!! :-) I've just sent them an e-mail... THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH...seriously:-)
  3. Hi there, I know it's been quite a few days, so you may not be interested anymore:) Buuuut, I did hear back from Michael Maurus' assistant earlier in the week. Funny thing is, I didn't realize the e-mail was from him b/c I didn't know his company's name was "Cancun Wedding Photography"...and I'd e-mailed SO many people, this one got lost in the shuffle... Anywaaay, here are some links I was sent to do with pricing and their website... There are mostly only smaller pics on the website he told me b/c it's easier for bandwith and also apparently to prevent people from stealing his pictures.. BUT, I asked him/his assistant to e-mail me bigger pics and he sent me links to some of the finished photobooks which made it way easier to get a sense of his style...(I thought they were beautiful!) Here's the website: Wedding Photographer for Cancun, Riviera Maya Here's the pricing list: http://cancun-wedding-photography.co...ollections.zip As a side note, he did say that he only does the photos himslef if you book a 4hr or more package...the smaller packages are done by an associate. Let me know if hte links don't work and I'm happy to PM you the info!
  4. Really? Shoot -- our resort charges quite a bit more...although if I can't find anything else, I might just have to suck it up:-)
  5. I just checked out the Lomas site, and it looks like what my resort is charging is the same as they charge...so I guess that's the going rate! Nice to double check though:-) (especially since the DJ we found is waaaay cheaper than the resort's...) Thanks again!
  6. Thanks SO much! I will look into it right now:-) My resort DOES offer this option, but the WC has been really slow to get back to me on who it is, and song lists etc, PLUS I'd like to see if I can find anyone that's a bit less expensive than the resort's option (I think about $500 for 45 mins...but maybe that's normal for a solo musician...I don't know b/c I haven't been able to find anything to compare it to!:-))
  7. Hi ladies, I am really having a hard time locating any solo guitarists, violinists or trios who play in the RM... I've searched the forum and there are LOTS of posts from Cabo brides, but haven't found anything for the RM in particular. (I've also seen some postings asking for advice on this for the RM, but no one replied!) I'm BEGGING anyone who has any names, contact info, ANYTHING to please help me out! (I know there other brides on here could probably use the info too!) Thanks!
  8. Hi there, Just wondering is anyone has used this company before? They come recommended from a photographer we couldn't afford:-) Just wondering if anyone has used them and can tell me about their experience? (I searched the forum and couldn't find anything...) Thanks!

I believe it was at dreams the WC was happy to decorate with items your brought with you, like the chair bows. Is that true for secrets too? I haven't requested this specifically, but I did ask the WC (Cecilia) about them putting our placecards and menu cards and she didn't seem to think it would be a problem, so maybe the same is true for chair bows etc...?
  10. I can't WAIT to hear your papparazzi report...the construction workers won't know what hit them:-)

My fi and i are getting married at Secrets Maroma next April so we're in the process of booking our rooms as we speak. i do prefer the rooms at Silversands over the ones at Maroma but Maroma's beach is to die for and i can't afford Maroma (Orient Express) this is about as close as i can get Thanks again! I know what you mean about the Orient Express Maroma...I fell in love with it until I saw the rates:-) Once again -- if there's anything else I can help with, just ask!
  12. Okay, last posting for tonight I promise! (I'm just so excited to share :-)) EMSpiers, you were wondering which was better, Silversands or Maroma... Well, I've been addicted to this one TripAdvisor forum where people who are going to either one or both of these new resorts are reporting back what they see/experience... (and actually, if you read through the whole thread, it's quite funny...people insulting each other, like a soap opera! good entertainment:-)) Anywaaay, here are some links that one of the people posted to some pictures they took at both Maroma and Silversands just like two days ago... The general consensus on the forum, BTW, is that Maroma's beach is waaaaay better than Silversands...but you can decide:-) Here are those links (hope they work! you'll probably have to copy and paste the URL into your browser): Maroma pics: Secrets Maroma Beach Resort - a set on Flickr Silversands pics: Silversands Resort - a set on Flickr And, if you want to check out the forum thread for yourself, here's the link to that: Riviera Maya forums: Maroma Beach is NOT OPENING August 1st!!!! - TripAdvisor Enjoy!
  13. I e-mailed him for some pricing information yesterday and haven't heard back yet...I'll let you know what I hear... And no -- I haven't seen any reviews on him either, athlthough I THINK the reason I looked him up was b/c someone on here said he was good...but I could be mistaken...
  14. Oh, and BTW, the "welcome dinner menus" are really Secrets banquet menus...but since I will be using it as my Welcome Dinner, that's what I've called it:-)
  15. Okay, I THINK I've done this right:-) If you can't open any of them, just let me know and I can e-mail them to you directly, it's no problem at all! Wedding Menus.doc Secrets Price List.doc Secrets Photo Prices.ppt Welcome Dinner Menus.doc

I would love, love, love to see your menus, price, lists, the works! More than happy to share...I'm new here though so I'm not sure how to post some things...Am I even allowed to post these things (may be big files)? I'll figure it out, and if not, then maybe I can just send them to you directly (to your e-mail)? The other girl who's getting married there just posted he wedding coordinator's contact deats...So far, Cecilia's been really good at getting back to me quickly...There does seem to be a bit of a language barrier I think, so sometimes you have to ask a question a couple times and in a couple different ways to get an answer:-) The resort photographer is Juan Navarro...if you google him you can find his website. If you buy a package, you HAVE to use him, OR, you can bring in an outside photographer for $100...which is, I think, what we're going to do... (BUT, you will receive no credit towards your package...Cecilia's been pretty clear there are NO SUBSTITUTIONS!:-) aaach.) Also, I've seen posting on this forum about Juan if you want to read what other think of his work... In fact, ANY outside vendors you have to pay $100 to bring in...DJ, band, etc... As far as the price list goes, (I'll tryto post it)...SOME things they still don't have prices for (they're still negotiating with suppliers...) So, for example, having a mariachi band for two sets...they still can't give a price for that yet... I know I can tell you that tikki torches, which aren't on the price list, cost $8/each...they don't yet have prices for candles... Other things NOT on the price list... Menu cards...$1/each Placecards ...$.50/each... Seating chart/sign for guests (if you do assigned seating)...complimentary...(yay -- something free!) Okay, let me figure out how to post this stuff!

Have a good evening! Whatever you need -- just let me know....menus, etc...!
  18. Hi Ladies on this thread! I am getting married at Secrets Maroma on Dec. 7, 2008... And BELIEVE me, I've been monitoring the TripAdvisor forums etc for any scrap of info! I am also waaaay into planning (have already exchanged about 3,000 e-mails with the wedding coordinator) so have lots of info, which I'm more than happy to share.... (e.g. I have food menus, know who the resort photographer is, have a price list for all the "extras" etc ) Please -- just let me know what info you want! Cheers:-)
  19. Hey there! I've been a BDW forum addict for a at least a month and a half now (and have gotten some GREAT ideas!), but after seeing a thread started on the location I'm getting married -- I decided it was finally time to give back and give what info I have:-) I'm getting married Dec. 7, 2008 at Secrets Maroma...I know, I'm probably crazy since the resort keeps pushing back it's opening date:-) I'm pretty far into planning, so if I can be of any help to anyone considering this resort -- just let me know! (I'll post more on the new Silversands?Maroma threads...) Thanks, Michelle
