  1. Seriously thinking bout doing the in-suite reception and would love to hear how it worked out for all of you.....i know this thread was started quite a while ago. Love the Terrace suite at MGM but am having trouble getting pricing on it. MalibuBarbie
  2. It all depends upon which cruise line, which ship amd length of cruise. Could be anywhere from a couple hundred dollars for a 3 or 4 day on Carnival to thousands on Princess in a suite for 11 days! LOL It all depends upon your budget MalibuBarbie
  3. Hi everyone.....how is everyone's planning going? Been having trouble with my back so I have been out of the loop for a bit but looking forward to hear how everyone is doing! MalibuBarbie
  4. I am so EXCITED! We were finally able to book our cruise today! I know it is still so far away, but it all seems so much more real now! I have to get our save the date information together now and send out to the few people that we wouldn't mind going with us. I am absolutely thrilled that we are going with the cruise wedding. I feel NO pressure what so ever and this is exactly what I want---stress free wedding planning! So, how is everyone's planning going? Anything new to report? Barbie
  5. Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted. I took a break away from wedding planning for a few months because my mom passed away. We have now realized that its time to start the planning again. We were alittle discouraged because Princess had stopped offering the cruise we wanted to go on but the good news is that they have brought it back for 2011 so we are happy that we can go where we originally wanted to and not settle for something else. The even better news is that they added another day and port to the itinerary so we will going on the 12 day cruise to the Mexican Riveria and we will be getting married at sea. While they released the itinerary, they haven't released the bookings yet so we have a few more weeks before we can actually book it but I am just so excited again! Oh, we will be going by ourselves unless my best friend and my sister decide that they can afford to come. Either way, I am ok with it....after the last 6 months being so horrible, we want (and need!) a stress-free wedding/honeymoon and with having little planning to do with the wedding ceremony part, this is the way to go for us. We are still planning to do the TTD photos in Cabo so we need to start looking into that---I don't know how hard it is going to be to find a photographer to do this while we are in port. So....how is everyone's planning going? Well...talk to you all soon! MALIBUBARBIE
  6. Everything looks great! Seems like you have been very organized! Congrat's! Barbie
  7. Welcome to the best place to find info on Cabo weddings! Barbie
  8. That really stinks. Hopefully the meeting is for something else---maybe just a different kind of cutback. Keep us posted! Barbie
  9. Bradley Frasier posted a link to the Cabo San Lucas Photographers - Photographic, Photography and Video - Los Cabos, Mexico but it was dated a while ago. Does anyone know if this list is the most updated list available? Barbie
  10. All I can saw is WOW! You are incredibly organized! Congratulations! Barbie
  11. I would definitely send out a newsletter. Yes, the most important thing to you and your fiance is the wedding but everyone is going on a cruise! What's not to be deliriously happy about! If I was invited to a wedding cruise, I would be thrilled to receive any little tidbits that will help get ready for it! I say GO FOR IT! I think I will send our newsletter out about 60 days prior to sailing (if we have anyone going with us!) Barbie
  12. Sounds great Cattie! If we have any sailing guests, I will have to borrow this! Barbie
  13. I'm sorry that you are upset and I can totally understand why. You have spent alot of time and money to go down there and plan your wedding and it sounds from your post that you feel as though she kind of "dissed" you. I know you are upset but don't let it spoil the fun of your planning. The upside is that I have not read any posts from brides that regretted having their wedding at Dreams---they all seem to be very happy with the outcome of their day. The downside is that, as others have said, it appears that she works on the upcoming weddings first. If I were you, I would iron out the absolute crucial details(such as date & time) and then post here. There are alot of Dreams brides and Tammy! If you can't get an answer here, I am sure someone can point you in the right direction. I am also sure she is not dis-interested in you and your wedding. Were you happy with the tour with Maye? Do you have questions that only Yesica can answer or can Maye help you with some of your questions/requests? I hope everything starts looking up for you! Good luck! Barbie
  14. I guess other cruise lines are now going to offer the tour for their brides to be. I got a reply to my request for information from the Wedding Experience(which is the only way to get married on a cruise ship) and they sent me info on NCL not Princess. Anyway, the email said that you could contact your wedding coordinator to arrange a tour of NCL ships. Come on Princess, start offering tours! LOL Barbie
  15. Thanks Carla...at least I am in really good company! I know it will go by fast. I was really upset when I realized that we were going to have wait but then I realized that we wanted a luxury-don't have to say no to anything we want-spoil us rotten type honeymoon. And that comes with a price. We have decided to go with Princess instead of Carnival, 10 days instead of 7, a mini suite or a suite instead of a balcony so all of these things have greatly increased the cost of the cruise. Let alone the fact the wedding itself is almost triple! I guess I should get comfy, cause it looks like I will have alot of time to spend here! LOL I didn't realize that you had changed your date but I did take a look at your planning Barbie
  16. It sounds like you had an excellent time. You got to see alot more than I would have thought with the time limit and all. I am happy that you got a glimpse of where your wedding is going to be but I am so jealous! I wish other cruise lines did that. Barbie
  17. So.....have you gone on your tour yet? What did you think? Barbie

Sorry for the delayed response on this---I have been so swamped at work that I haven't had time to do anything other than grab a shower and go to sleep to get ready for the next day. We are making a few changes with our wedding---due to the economy, we have postponed it until......april 2011! I was upset at first, but it will be better for everyone and my kids will be on spring break so they will most likely be able to come with us. We have also changed the cruise---it will now be a 10 day Mexican Riveria on Princess instead of a 7 night on Carnival. I am looking forward to the extra days at sea. The biggest change will be that we will be married at sea instead of in port on embarkation day. We are requesting a on-deck wedding but we will not know until right before we sail whether the captain approves it or not. Either way, it will be fine....I am happy that we will not have to stress about the wedding on embarkation day! I will be able to relax for a couple of days and take my time getting ready. Other than that, all is the same, We will still have our pictures done in Cabo. I do have to call David's. I bought a really formal dress(think poofy dress with chapel train) when we were doing the big wedding locally. I am going to try and see if they will exchange my dress for something a little more appropriate for a cruise wedding. I hope they will but I have my fingers crossed so wish me luck with that! Talk to you all soon! Barbie
  19. Sorry but I have to disagree with your statements regarding CruiseCritic. I actually spend more time on there than here because there is not really too much info on cruise weddings on this site. As with any (including this one) forum, there is going to be some mis-information given in posts but I have found CruiseCritic to be VERY reliable and there is alot of good information and reviews provided on that site---certainly nothing that I would cringe about! I will say that it is not really a very TA friendly forum though.....most experienced cruisers rather deal directly with the cruiselines themselves than with a TA! Barbie
  20. Hi Stacy- We are doing the same thing as you...going on a cruise to the Mexican Riveria. After much thought and research, we decided the best way to handle it was to get married on the ship (our legal ceremony)on embarkation day in Long Beach and then have our "beach" ceremony on the beach in Cabo. We felt it was the easiest way (although we are having to pay for two ceremonies---it is still way cheaper than a traditional wedding in AZ) and we couldn't be happier with our decisions so far. We are doing a trash the dress photo shoot while there also. Photos were very important to us so we will have our formals on the ship and then some beach formals and then the fun TTD photos as well. I did contact several of the WC in Cabo and some of them were too expensive for what we wanted but there was a couple of them that had pre-made packages which were reasonable....and they have handled cruise brides so they are aware of the time constraints that we have. What cruise line are you going on? We are going on Carnival so we are only in Cabo til 3pm so it will be a little tight but very do-able! Good luck---I am sure you will find a WC in Cabo that can help you out. There is another website that is cruise related and there is a great wedding forum there----great info/recommendations/reviews for cruise brides on there. If you would like the website, just let me know. I don't know if I am allowed to post it here. Barbie
  21. Just checking in----nothing really going on with the wedding planning as Carnival STILL has not released the May 2010 dates yet I've been swamped at work so I have given myself a break from "wedding" stuff for now. I would love to change it to May 2009 but its just financially impossible. We just got our electric bill for July/August----a whooping 517.00 for a small two bedroom house----our electric co-op raised our rates almost 34% for the summer months and they know that its not like we can leave the AC off for the summer (avg temp here in summer is 124) or we can use another company----they have us nailed to the wall! Anyway, what's new with everyone else? adias.angel........what's going on with the planning? DALTX---a new baby is WAY better than where you get married anyday! Has the baby been born yet or is he/she arriving sometime soon? Why don't you have your son and his fiance bring along some "wedding" clothes and take some pictures at the beach in Cabo? It will bring a little Cabo beach into their memories!
  22. Wow! So what and where have you decided to have the wedding? I am sure it will be just as fun and if no one could go with you---you would have missed out on having the people that count. You can always go on a cruise when its just the two of you==maybe for your first anniversary! Let me know what you have planned! Barbie
  23. Thanks for the input. I will definitely do some research before I do anything. I figured it would be easier to deal direct with Carnival---you know, the less people involved, the better but maybe that's not so true in this case. I am going to head over there and do some reading! Barbie
  24. Hmmmm, maybe I should go thru a TA. If they can get better rates, than I am all for it! Barbie
