  1. So your options for a reception location are: Beach, Beach Grill(restaurant), Banquet Room Coral Beach Grill at the Palace (Open-air restaurant) only open for lunch & breakfast which is why you can have your reception there overlooking the ocean (each section has their own beach grill that you can also have your reception in [Mariachi (Colonial), Rachero Grande (Caribe), Palmera (Tropical), Marina Beach Snack Bar (Beach)] Beach Reception Reception by the Palace Pool Banquet rooms look just like a normal banquet room with no windows, there is no fee to move your reception from a banquet room to one of the beach grills
  2. I have a great one, he quoted me under $1200 for 8 hours & a TTD.... no prints, just on CD & edited ones too! Cancun Wedding Photographer Riviera Maya
  3. I have some information on some of that, here is a picture of the centerpiece they provide... you can see the hurricane style vase you can use too! Here is a link to my photobook too, for lots of other pictures of the resort weddings: cdksunshine - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Pay extra for:
  4. Great Advice..... I love the title "Term Sheet" They do have a good reputation on here & I have gotten a reference from another bride.
  5. Quick question. All but one of my vendors so far has given me a contract that we have both signed. The contract is in English & all the vendors are in Mexico. One of my vendors that I was going to book with, when I ask for a contract to look over, they said they don't do contracts, just a deposit. He mentioned that "Unless the contract was in Spanish and notarized it would hold no value here" Does anyone know this to be true?
  6. Here is the link to it now: Victoria's Secret - The convertible dress And here is how to wear it: Victoria's Secret - Product Details
  7. I work for American Express & they are actually not allowed to do that. We call it supression & report companies that do that. It is part of the merchant agreement that they sign in the begining when they decided to take plastic. My TA does not pass the fee on to us....most don't! I would have a discussion with your TA about this, b/c most TA's will do price matches & you can go elsewhere where they don't charge the 3%. Also, its an awesome thing to be able to pay for your trip with credit card and have 30 days more to pay it off & also earn either travel points or cash back. I don't think what she is doing is fair. BTW... when they pay with a CC, the TA gets her money within 3 days. By check, they have to wait for mailing time, and the check to clear & what about the fees if it bounces.....
  8. Very Easy to do! Open Microsoft Powerpoint. Go to Insert, Picture, From File Then do Insert, Picture, Auto Shapes, pick the 3rd option "Basic Shapes" Click the first one "Rectangle" Click & drag you mouse to make it bigger. It defaults to be light blue..... Double click on the rectangle you just added, go to Colors & Lines.. in the box Color, click to make it white, then once that is done right below the color box, see where it says Transparency..... make it about 60%. Then go to line & select No Line, & then click OK Make the Rectangle the same size of your picture..... ----------- Then to add text, Insert, Text Box, Click and drag your mouse. Type what you want to add, then make it the Font, color, size you want! Drag you mouse around the whole thing (it should select all the items, picture, text & rectagle), right click Save As Picture, where it says File Type at the bottom, select .jpg. Save & attach as a picture in your email. Just a word of advice, I sent it to myself first to make sure it looked the way I wanted it to.... PM me if you need more! Hope that helps!
  9. I got mine in Grapevine, TX at Group USA. They have a huge selection, VERY resonable prices too. Group USA: Wedding Gowns I also went to Terry Costa & Mockingbird Bridal in Dallas & found mostly full skirt-ed dresses. Not what I was looking for. Hope that helps!
  10. A review of DJ Bob from a reference he gave me: Yes, we used DJ Bob for our tiny wedding in Akumal. He was awesome!! Definitely got everyone dancing the entire night (all 17 of us) and even the parents were rocking out too. He is a hilarious, old school partier from the East who now lives in Mexico and is the local dj. He is totally open to playing as much of "your" music as you request. Definitely has a little cheesy wedding dj in him but it made it super fun too. For the resources that are available down there, he is great! With all of that said I don't know your musical taste. If you want a real dj who spins electronic/techno music this is NOT your guy. I'm assuming not but just had to say that.
  11. I did these myself, I really didn't want anything elaborate becasue I thought it was way too much information to send in a formal invitation. So I decided to do a "letter". Dressed it up a bit with some raffia around it & used a very cool paper cutter around the edges of the insert (had pricing on it) for a Beachy feel! My only costs: Printer, Ink, Paper (got a reem of a bit heavier quality made for color/presentation printing), No. 10 envelopes (just plain white with out the "security" thing on the inside, just white inside & out)... Thats it! I can't get the Word document of my invitation to attach, but if you need it, just PM me your email address & I will send it! 13. Love the completion list..... that is a HUGE help! I just went dress shopping last weekend..... great thing b/c they said it takes 4-6 months to order. I am a bit OCD so at least I will have it 3 months before we get married. Here's what I have done! (We got engaged in Jan 08, so I have had some time) 1. Save the Date Email 2. Invitations (I know really early, but I just wanted to give people enough time to prepare) 2. Booked my FI & myself's trip with Travel Agent 3. 30 people already booked with TA 4. Date Confirmed 5. Resort location picked (thanks to this forum) 6. FI outfit bought (thanks to awesome sales, perfect timing for this: Linen pants, tommy bahama type shirt) 7. Photographer booked, deposit secured (Octavio Montes) 8. DJ/Music Decided (going with an Ipod, starting to gather songs we want) 9. Wedding website finished (Katie & CJ - wedding website by mywedding.com) 10. Starting saving sample hair styles, picture shots, make-up ideas, flower ideas, centerpieces) 11. Bought parasols for the me, bridal party & a few left over for the guests (thanks to Jen on this forum, I got a super good deal) 12. Bought aqua centerpiece candles (thanks to craigslist for $1 each)
  14. I have a great place, they were voted on city search too, never used them for bridal, but for ALL my other stuff and she is great! Atelier Tailor in Plano. 5930 W Park Blvd Ste 850 Plano, TX 75093 Phone: (972) 818-6767 I swear if found a 20% off coupon too, for first time clients, but I can't find it now
  15. try a body wave perm or I found this stuff by Treseme. Curl Activator Heat Protectant Spray. Only works on 2 day unwashed hair (use it the day before & they again the day after) I usually "wet" my hair, put the stuff on, re-blow dry, put more suff on where I want curls (make sure its dry) then re-curl....
  16. If I was you, I would definitely take your FI BM to lunch or something to get to know you and your other BM's, so when it is time to all get ready, she can get ready with you all the girls and feel really comfortable. I also think she will feel very important if you make the effort to get all the BM's together to get to know each other before the wedding. I really think its up to you where you want her to stand. I would even them out, but these days you don't have to be so traditional and formal. So that is completely up to you. As far as who signs for you, if they both are equally important to you, do something fun like, rock paper scissors, draw straws, hula hoop race, cooking contest, ect.. Just say, I love you both & I really can't choose between you both, lets do something fun to decide. My girlfriend had a bio dad & a step dad & they both walked her down the aisle. when they asked "Who gives this woman?" Step-dad said "her mother & I", bio said "I do" I thought it was very sweet. I would call your Step-dad first, since you are closest to him & tell him what you decide. Let him know you haven't told your bio dad yet, so he fells important. I would just be honest with both of them. Remember this is your wedding & if someone gets upset b/c of your decisions, than just remind them, you are not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, these are tough decisions & if they can't understand that and not take things personally, then how much do they really care about YOU? I really thing being honest is the best thing & most everyone will understand if you tell them from your heart!
  17. I found these when I was looking around. They used these LED lights for "garden solar lights" at a party. Instructions: Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories - Quick, easy, temporary, and beautiful LED garden lights Here is where to buy the LED lights, 100 for $28, but you also need to buy a battery for them. Just a note, in the instructions they said to make sure the battery works, b/c they got some bad batteries when they origially bought them. Buy the LED lights: LED Headquarters
