Hi guys, We're having our legal day 2 weeks before we have our DW in Mexico. It's going to be at 4:00 at a small courthouse near where we live. We've invited the family members that can't make it to Mexico to be with us. Do I need to have some sort of reception/dinner? To FI and I, this is just signing paperwork- the "real" wedding will be when we're in Playa. AND we're having an AHR when we come back! I was thinking of just doing something simple like a pot-luck at my house, but I don't want to be tacky either! What do you guys think?

It's funny that you post this... I am going through the same thing! I took my best friend out for her birthday lunch & she informed me then that she wont make it to Mexico (she's known about this since last May & we're getting married in 2 1/2 months). She just had some things come up. She's been doing the same thing with avoiding me for the past few weeks since I guess she made up her mind that she's not coming. I don't have any advice, but I feel your pain, sister!

It seems like this season is going to focus more on Nicki than the other wives- she's doing some shady stuff! Okay... starting to feel like too much of a couch potato... must find something to do!

Shay is right- I too was able to lock in the 2008 rates for my wedding in (eek) a few months... It's just a few dollars difference, but I'll take any savings I can get! I agree that I wish we could "trade-out" the things we do not want/need- we aren't too interested in a cake since we're doing the 4 course dinner and have an AWESOME cake for our AHR! I'll try to sweet-talk Micala and I'll let you girls know when I get back! From what I too have been told was that the light-up dance floor was provided by the outside DJ. I'm with you guys and not paying extra for this- our people are more into drinking and chatting than cutting a rug, anyway! Istephiez, I think the slide show sounds really cool, but I'm not sure if they'll have the equipment to show it on the beach. We're like Shay and doing it at the AHR also. Roahrig- We've got to meet up! I'll be there on the 15th! How cool is that!!! We're doing the Classic Wedding Package and upgrading the decor to the chuppa setup on the beach (I'm still obsessed with it, Shay!)

VeronicaLane, I am going to do the same thing with the Ipod setup. I'm curious how it logistically all works out myself! Sounds like a great way to save some cash, though! It must be so exiting to be SO close! Istephiez, My photog is a guest also- I LOVE not having to pay the fee! Woo hoo!

My photographer is actually doing my pics free of charge, so I am getting her and her husband a couples massage at the hotel. Kind of a big present, but they're saving us a TON of money!

That is interesting. I wasn't "asked" to pay either. I emailed to find out more about the deposit (thanks to our thread that I even found out about it!) and was informed that I needed to pay. I was even having some financial difficulties around the beginning of December (I broke my leg in an exercising accident- not sure if I told you girls or not- but emergency room, surgery, physical therapy, etc was hitting the wedding budget HARD) and I was told that I needed to find a way to pay before the 31st or we would lose our date. I totally don't mind that we paid it- I'm happy that our date is secure, but I agree that it'd be nice to know that the story stays consistent! Don't get me wrong, I love the Royal and know that I made the right decision!
