  1. I'm still working on my welcome booklet, but here's a link to the card I'll be enclosing: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28852
  2. thanks for sharing the good and the bad. My wedding is at Dreams too and it's so helpful to hear what it's like from someone who's been there, done that. Even the advice on which buildings to book in is appreciated. Thanks again and all the best to you and your new hubbie!
  3. Just looking at the invites, tags and bookmark, I realized that I have a tendency to use exclamation points !!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there a cure for that?!!!!! ... must get this under control ....

  5. Hmm. I'm not too good at this stuff, but how about if I throw a few thoughts out there and others with real imaginations can add on ... ... the deed is done ... party's just begun ... come have some fun wow, this is harder than it looks, at least for me anyway

Another one of those 'anonymous' authors...It is still a great quote.] I found it somewhere online too, and I really like it, so I borrowed it! I also borrowed the mug tag language from someone else on the site who had it printed directly onto her mugs. I thought it was cute, so I used it too. It's unbelievable how many great ideas I've seen on BDW. This site is an absolute treasure.
  7. Darn those pics are big, but it's the only way you can actually read the writing. Mods, if they're a problem, PM me and I'll switch them for smaller ones.
  8. Hi ladies, After much consideration, I ordered invites instead of DIY. As much as I would have loved to create my own, I just didn't have the time and equipment. Someone else on this forum posted a link to an invitation provider The Greeting Card Village and whoever you are, THANKS!!! I dealt with Sandy Newcomb and she was absolutely wonderful. Her invites are inexpensive and printed on good quality paper. She helped me with the wording on my OOT bag card and was very patient as I played around with the layouts. I highly recommend her for brides who are on a tight budget, and who aren't too crafty (like me!). Invite OOT bag card Bookmark, favour tag, mug tag

I love my logo too! If you search "Sarah Sproull" or "Sproull Designs" on the site you'll find the creator of this, and many others on here. Her site has plenty of samples and colours to choose from, and if you have something specific in mind, she can create a custom one for you. In fact, she just changed the colours on mine for me (although I haven't changed my siggy yet) and created a really great initials-only monogram that I'll use for envelope backs, etc.

Just an update on this thread: the WC confirmed that in fact we DON'T have to pay per drink. I got that idea somewhere else on the site and just assumed it was the truth. My mistake for not checking it out first! I'm still not crazy about having to pay for food at an AI, but so be it.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It's a great resource -- I think it's Sticky-worthy too.
  12. I think with destination weddings, anything goes. If you're doing OOT bags, that's already plenty. But if you're stuck on the tradition of a favour, may-be spend a little less on the OOT bags so that you have some wiggle room in your budget for the favours. I'm doing both, but that's my personal choice. I definitely don't feel like I'm obligated to do so.
  13. Thank you so much for finding and sharing that site. At those prices, its definitely worth it to buy instead of rent. Good find!
  14. Fantastic OOT bags! What a great idea to shop for them while you were there for a site visit. I couldn't imagine trying to bring all those goodies with you on a plane!
  15. THANK YOU! I've been holding off placing my order for other items too as I was waiting for the fans to come back in. I'm hitting the site asap.
  16. If you find that you've bought too much of an item, or decide late in the game that you don't want to use it anymore, you can just post them on the sell thread and I bet they'll get snapped up right away.
  17. I'm putting cards in mine too, but I hadn't thought of tissues. You don't always find them in the hotel rooms, plus, it's always good to have a few in your beach bag. I'm definitely adding that to my loot. Thanks for sharing!
  18. Thanks Soon2BLennon. I found the brochure area on the Dreams Punta Cana site, and it will do! Thanks for pointing it out.

  20. I'm perfectly happy to pay for a private area and extra waitstaff -- that's only fair. What rubs me the wrong way is the extra $ for food and booze. If you have a smaller wedding party that can be accomodated in a restaurant, you still have to pick from a set menu, so I don't really see how they can use that as a reason to doublecharge for a private reception. The same goes for a bar -- paying for set-up and a bartender (or two) is reasonable. But charging us per drink too? I still think it's double dipping. I haven't had any serious conversations with them about the reception yet, so I guess we'll see what the outcome is soon enough.
  21. Ditto!! Keep them coming! Who the heck knew that you could use chalk on your wedding dress. Genius.
