I need your help w/ a Plan B
MarieSam replied to Jacilynda's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Jac again I HOPE everything will work out for all us brides and our plans will go forward as we initially planned! I haven't had much luck looking for alternatives, I actually realized just how much my family and I have traveled through Mexico because honestly all the places I would recommend and love are...in Mexico, lol. In any case, I got an email of this week's deals from Kayak.com and one of the links they had was for here: Cheap Caribbean | Attractions. Don't know if any of those are places you would consider, but thought I'd send it to you anyways. Some appear to be great deals. But again, keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Plan B will never come to be, because Plan A will ultimately be your reality -
Aww I'm sorry Lisa ~ ironically FI's family is full of doctors and they are all saying this is being blown outta proportion and it's all a matter of being careful and keeping sanitary while you're there. Oooooh Vegas sounds like an awfully good alternative!!!! I WOULD LOVE meeting up with all the BDW gals and their hubbies (or not, lol) in sin city We would have such a blast!!!!! Girls weekend ~ let's do it!!!!

Custom Linen Suits $99!
MarieSam replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hmmm, do they have a color that is close to ivory that you know of? -
For the gals who are rescheduling to other locations ~ I'm glad you guys have come to a resolution and will still be celebrating your weddings. I know they will not be "as planned" but I am also confident they will be filled with happiness and love, and awesome pictures for all us ladies to enjoy For those who have decided to go on with their plans in Mexico ~ I'm equally glad that you are sticking with your plans and basically giving the swine flu a big "F.U." I am leaning toward giving the damn flu bug my middle finger myself, lol. And as with the other girls who have changed their plans, I wish you lots of sunshine and happiness on your special days. Heck, you'll be able to have your own oasis if others still stay away from the area. Still sounds like paradise to me Essentially everyone must do what they feel is best for their own situation and circumstances. I am still bitter and pissed that all of us Mexico brides have to go through this crap, but I think all of our relationships and marriages will be better for it. If we can get through all this turbulence, just think what wonderful karma we have ahead of us. Much love to all my fellow Mexico brides current and past ~ one of these days we will all have to celebrate in Mexico together. First round of tequila shots on me girls

Well if you canceled because of a hurricane, then I believe you'd be covered. But to cancel based on the swine flu would not work. Then again, if your policy allows for cancelation under any terms ~ then heck lie about it and make something else up if you needed to cancel! Right?

Beautiful Jenny, and I'm sure your dress will sell fast it's so stylish and perfect for a TTD! -
I have heard that buying insurance now due to the swine flu would be considered pre-existing conditions, therefore, would not be covered under an insurance policy. Here's what an insurance company sent me today: If you purchase an Event Cancellation policy at this time, in regard to coverage for swine flu, the policy would not afford protection for a cancellation of the event. This would be considered "prior knowledge" and therefore not a covered reason. Thank you, Lenore

I need your help w/ a Plan B
MarieSam replied to Jacilynda's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Jac, this is all breaking my heart. You are my Akumal sister and I am still holding out hope that this will all get better before our weddings. For us, we are willing to wait it out until this things clears up. Tommy and I have been together for 10 years and having to wait out another few months or even a year is no biggie for us. I HATE that the military is now banned from traveling to Mexico, but I can understand that elevated pandemic level mandates it. I hope whatever happens, there will be a happy resolution for not only yourself but all the brides who have been afflicted by the recent events. I am gonna do some searching later on at work and see if I can find anything for you since I know you're looking for a similar vibe to Akumal. Many hugs sister -
Harty, well I'm glad you've got a backup plan and it sounds like a good one. hehehe FMIL sounds like a handful, but you definitely know how to handle her and that's what matters, lol. Whatever happens, make sure you take pics and share, I know myself and all the other brides would love to see em ~ you're a forum favorite

Desiree- just noticed your post from earlier So sorry to hear about your BFs and biotch SIL. DWs have a funny way of bringing out the true colors in people, generally the ugly side. And while I know the swine flu is no laughing matter, wouldn't it be just a little funny if your SIL (and NO one else in your family) got the flu bug. baahhhaaahhaaa , I think all this swine flu stress has made me a little evil!!!

The note of a military travel ban is mentioned in CNN's article. Honestly, if your day is in July - I wouldn't jump the gun so fast, but rather have a backup plan. Things could certainly change for the better or worse in the coming weeks/months. Plus if WHO says a pandemic is imminent, then travel anywhere to any country could be restricted, not just to Mexico alone. The irony in this all is that it seems Mexico is actually stabalizing, and now it is spreading even more to other areas. Craziness...

I think it's a great email Yamille ~ we are pretty much taking the same approach. And Tommy and I are just like you guys, we just can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else and if necessary we will simply postpone until the time is appropriate. I keep reading that the next 7 to 10 days are critical in determining just how serious this damn flu is. I have been obsessed with reading and watching everything on this thing. Last night I did read that Mexico believes their situation is stabalizing. I'm trying to keep positive that this will somehow pass, and that wedding of yours and so many others on here will go on and be as fabulous as we've dreamed them to be

Forgot to add....there is now 1 confirmed fatality in the U.S. as a result of the swine flu -- a 23-month old toddler in Texas. *sigh* Can't even imagine what that family is going through. At the same time, this also means the media will once again be all over this because now we've got a death in the country and it's an infant...God I don't think this is gonna be a good day.....

Awww Yamille, I'm so sorry What did you guys decide to email your guests? Have you guys decided to cancel or postpone or just wait it out? It pains me to be going through this and to hear of all these forced cancelations/postponements. And I fear with my wedding not being too far away, I will be experiencing the same soon. My frustrations are pretty much directed to all -- media, pigs, govt., disease, panic, etc. -- about 30 minutes ago my editor asked me to write a swine flu story. He knew I had been crying the past two days about this damn flu and was hesitant to ask. But I did it...and I hated it. I know everything happens for a reason, but plain and simple, I am bitter. We have all spent tireless hours planning our dream weddings, perfecting details, and making sure everything is just peachy. And for something like this to happen...it's just not fair....
