  1. Just remember that when it's all done with, everyone will be raving about YOUR wedding in paradise. My cousin got in trouble with his wife when he declared that my wedding was "the best wedding I've ever been to".
  2. Just be careful taking any supplements over the counter while you're pregnant/breast feeding. You've probably had this for a long time, so don't feel like if you can't get it under control today, you're failing.
  3. My SIL used the same dresses from my cousin's wedding. She added a ribbon under the bust and had my grandma cut them off to tea-length. And since she had one extra bridesmaid, we just found matching material and had an additional one made. It worked out great, and my cousin was so pleased that someone loved her dresses that much! She did ask for her sister's dress (my other cousin) back, so she could use the material for her daughter some day.

  5. Me too. Thanks! Does anyone know why he had to have brain surgery?

No, Jac, please don't take asprin! Asprin is used for heart stuff because it increases bleeding and decreases clotting. And no one wants to increase bleeding during their period! Stick with Aleve/naproxen.
  7. Have you looked at other places you could cut back? Do you need our help with your budget? We'd be happy to look it over and give you our thoughts!

The speaker system was great-- no problems there... Well, technically we brought our ipod/speakers from home and didn't spend the extra $$. We figured we could spend just a little more and have them for good. We went with the Bose speaker for around $300-400, and used it all week. In fact, we're planning on taking it on our next trip with us!
  9. We brought bug spray too, but never used it once. I do know the staff at the resort mentioned that bug spray was good, so I'm sure there are times of the year that you absolutely have to have it. I wouldn't take chances!

True, there wasn't a ton, and if you're not in a casita, there's even less. I do know everyone can order toast and omelets.
  11. Jennifer (jfwolfe72) sent me the info: it's going to cost $8.00/person and we're also going to serve our cake at that reception. We'll rent a sound system so we can play a CD of music that we're going to prepare for dancing. I don't think that information was anywhere on Lomas' or Karisma's websites. Monica suggested that option for us. Search for her and PM her if you have other questions about this. I don't know if this is what they ended up doing or not.
  12. We did not do speeches, but you sure could have. I know a lot of people do their speeches at their after-dinner party. We alternated between dancing and visiting with all those who didn't want to dance (and occ eating!). I know someone did another option where they paid to reserve a reception location and the bar, but had no additional food. I'll see if I still have that e-mail and can find out how much it was. I would ask your wedding coordinator about the >40 guest problem.
  13. Oh, and if you want the map, you'll have to e-mail Mom. Her e-mail address is in the thread I posted above.
  14. Looks good! And of course you can use our welcome letter - we actually stole it from someone on here first! My mom (Melanie) also typed up all the restaurant and activity info for EDR if you want to borrow that too. I believe it's a Word document. Those templates can be found here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22106
  15. We went with option #2. The french toast was similar to what we had everyday for room service breakfast in the Casitas (or at Kampai). I thought it was tasty. By the way, "a touch of Amaretto Liquor" means an entire cup of Amaretto to pour in your small coffee. Tasty, though! To address question #2, you can always order additional room service that day and get a "regular" omelette with ham or cheese or whatever he likes.
  16. Here's the best pic I can find: We had to e-mail the wedding coordinator to find out about this. I can't speak to the cocktail hour, so someone else will have to answer that! Just remember that everyone will be stuffed no matter what you do!
  17. Found it! It was in this thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11538-5 Post #50 We were just told the dessert buffet was now $20 per person and included: DESSERT BUFFET FOR MINIMUM OF 20 PEOPLE - $ 20 USD p/p MEDIUM SIZE CAKES LEMON TART 18 SERVINGS SEVEN FRUIT TART 18 SERVINGS OPERA CAKE 18 SERVINGS LARGE CAKES LARGE CHOCOLATE CAKE 1 PIECE LARGE APPLE PIE 1 PIECE PASSION FRUIT CAKE 1 PIECE RASPBERRY CHEESE CAKE 1 PIECE FRUIT CAKE 1 PIECE CHOCOLATE CAKE 1 PIECE MACAROON (3 TYPES) SERVINGS
  18. We did the dessert buffet. The food was amazing, and the 2 hour bar was included. We also used this time to play our ipod/speakers. This followed the "free" dinner. That being said, we didn't eat hardly ANY of it, because everyone was so stuffed. But it was still nice to have. We took a few of the treats back to the room with us, but most of it went to waste. I'll see if I can find the prices on another thread.

The tumor they removed was walnut sized but the problem wasn't the tumor it was the cyst that was attached to it that was pushing on her brain, it was 3xs the size of the actual tumor. It was all one piece thankfully and it fell off her nerve endings with no problems. The tumor that they removed specifically was called an Acoustic Neuroma. With her disease the tumors grow incredibly slow so they don't intend to operate again....at least we hope not! That's great news. With the way it dissected from the brain tissue, she should heal much more quickly. We don't see a ton of NF2, but we tend to do mostly spine stuff. Here's hoping for a quick recovery!
  20. Wow, Maura, you are drop-dead gorgeous!! Congrats to both of you!
  21. Congrats, Shea!!! How exciting for you two!! It seems like you were just getting married! My cousin named her oldest boy Payton. And he has another cousin named Peyton. I think it's just common enough (not to mention there's a famous football player with that name) that he shouldn't be made fun of. Her other two kids are Preston and Gabriella.
  22. Danielle, I'm glad to hear everything went well. Nerve tissue takes forever to heal, but it does heal every day (about a millimeter a day). Plus, therapy can make a huge difference in how well/quickly things heal as well. Where was the tumor located (if you know)? Have they gotten pathology back yet? Often, the surgeon can tell what type of tumor it is by how it looks and how it comes out (one big shell vs. little pieces that have grown into the nerve tissue). We have several brain tumor patients who come back for years for follow up, and never have a single problem again. 23. Welcome to the forum!!! I hope you find it as helpful as I did.
