  1. Wow!! I am so impressed! I can't believe I"m going to miss you by only a few days!! (We are heading down in the morning.) I can't believe I'm barely missing seeing this set-up in real life! I'm so excited for you! Everything looks wonderful! I love your invitations (we almost got those!) Where did you get those paper bags? And those postcards? I have postcards too, but they are not nearly as cool as those!! So excited for you!!! Enjoy every minute!!
  2. Yes - she told me she's out of town, too. She gets back on Thursay and FI and I and our parents get there on Friday for our tasting, meeting with the florists, etc. It took a while for her to get the contract to me, too. I was nervous as well because I wanted to MAKE SURE I had my date and I just wasn't totally comfortable until we signed the contract! But I sent her an email asking her to just confirm, via email, that the date was reserved for me until we had the contract finalized. All was fine. I'm sure you're okay, but I know it's stressful! I got an email from her at 1am the other day!! And yes, she said she'd have limited access to email while she is at the meeting out of the country. I'm sure you'll hear something when she gets back and I'll see her on Friday! How weird would be if I asked her to get on Jessica's contract?
  3. Thanks guys! I'm going to try to stop in there this weekend and see what I can figure out. I'll try to get a good email address from them too, so that other people can contact them. I'll post info when I get back. Mel - keep us posted on whether or not you get your refund!! That is pretty critical to this process! Hopefully they will get it to you soon! Thanks!
  4. Fingers crossed for you! I booked her by the skin of my teeth too. I was traveling for work and had some logisitcal issues in getting the deposit to her. (Mainly my bank being uncooperative with Mexico.) It was very stressful and I felt much better once we had signed the contract and paid up! Hopefully it will work out for you, too! If that other girl hasn't even chosen a wedding date yet, then that's a good sign! Good luck!
  5. You guys are awesome!! Thank you thank you!! I love all of these ideas!
  6. Did anyone use La Europea for their alcohol? If so, how did you contact them? I can't find any real info on their website. How early did you have to place your order? I'm planning on using them, but I'm getting a little nervous about getting in touch with them! Do they have an actual store where you can walk in and choose the wine selection? Thanks in advance!!
  7. Yeah, I saw that post, and she's actually my photographer (*yay!*), but I just wasn't sure if you can just pop in there for lunch or if you have to be a guest? I emailed her as well, so we'll see. I'm also wondering if there are any other cool, off the beaten path areas that we should check out as well. Thanks!
  8. Hello! FI and I are taking our folks down to Cancun this weekend so that they can see the venue and we can finalize some wedding decisions. (Menu, flowers, etc.) We were thinking of spending one day in Chichen Itza, but as it's the high season, I'm thinking it will be way too touristy for us. Are there any other cool towns that would be fun to wander around or stop for lunch? We are considering going to some of the Haciendas, but we're not sure if you can just stop in for lunch if you aren't staying there. Does anyone know? Are there any Haciendas you recommend? Are there any other fun, more local areas that we should check out? We'd like to stay within 3 hours of Cancun. Thanks in advance!!!
  9. Indy - I'm so excited for you!!!! Do any of you guys have sample centerpieces or bouquets that Fernanda sent you from previous weddings? We are meeting with the florist this weekend, and I really have no idea where to start. Did Fernanda send you any examples? Of course, I would love something gorgeous, but the smallest part of our budget is reserved for flowers, so I'm just not sure what to expect!!
  10. Oh, I have always wanted to do this! I have a couple of friends who have hiked the entire thing, and I have no desire to do that, but I would love to hike a portion of it. And you can handle ANYTHING for four days, right? I think it will be great!

Not even the picture of my wedding dress is enough to keep me from eating crap. as one poster puts is so nicely Quote: Originally Posted by Maura also -- i spent some time on some of the websites of restaurant chains near where i work looking at the nutrition facts so i know what i can or cant eat. i keep the list at my desk at work so when i run out for lunch i know what i should order. when in doubt, order a salad with dressing on the side, no cheese. if you like stuff like chipotle - you cannot have guac, that will push you over 15 grams alone because of the high fat content of avocados, even if it is "healthy fat" - remember alli does not distinguish between healthy & unhealthy fats So then how do you make sure you have enough healthy fat in your system? Your body needs healthy fats to function, and if Alli causes you to crap all of the healthy fats out too, then that would be a concern. My eyes don't produce tears anymore because I don't have enough healthy fats in my system. I take Omega3 and Fish Oil everyday to increase my healthy fats. I would be SCREWED if I took something that shed all of that out of my system!! And holy shit, I love guac. And olive oil. There is no way I could survive on that pill. On a side note, it makes me so, so sad that cheese is so high in fat. Yari - I'm glad you checked it out with your doc! That's smart even though it's over the counter! How long are you supposed to take this for? Is it just to kickstart people onto a new diet? Or do you take it for a longer period?
  12. You are just adorable!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a fun day!!

  14. Quote: The sheer knowledge that eating more than 15 g of fat in a sitting will make you shit yourself is enough for me to not want to go there. I think the alli pills are awesome. That's hilarious! My only concern is what is happening inside of people's bodies that it is causing them to shit themselves? I mean, I have had diarrhea before, but I've never shit in my pants. It's a bit concerning to me that those little "valves" seem to stop working all together! I just hope there's no sort of long term effect there? I've seen older people have trouble with that, (older, like in their 70s), and it's just not something I want to bring on myself! But I do think if there was something that made me that sick every time I ate a french fry, then I'd probably never eat a french fry again. It's a great tactic! Pavlov would be proud! Let us know how it works, ladies! It would be great if you could keep up the healthy diet after you stop taking the pill. How long are you supposed to take Alli for? Keep us posted! I hope it works for you!
  15. Yeah, what's left on your list? Can we help?
  16. Or Maya Angelou? Sorry...looking over at my bookshelf and spouting out things randomly...
  17. Or what about something from "The Art of Being a Woman" by Veronique Vienne? Haven't read it in a while but it's all about how fabulous women are and how we should all love ourselves and support all women. I'm giving a copy to each of the girl's in my wedding party. I bet there is someting in there about friendship. Also - Anne Morrow Lindbergh's "Gift from the Sea" might have something. I was planning on using an excerpt from this book as a reading in our ceremony, but FI nixed it. But she talks about all facets of life and I'm sure there is something in there about friendship. Or the "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" thing...(not sure of the exact title)...or the "Book of Virtues" by William J Bennett....just thoughts... I can look for specifics later. I'm under a tight deadline at work and need to wrap something up quickly....
  18. Or Charlotte's Web? I bet there's a cute excerpt about friendship in there...
  19. Look at Shel Silverstein or Dr. Seuss. I bet there are some really cute children's books/poems about friendship...can't think of any off hand. Sorry!
  20. Oh - everything is so beautiful!!! I love your bouqet! Congratulations!! I love your OOT boxes too! Where did you get those? Looks like you had a fabulous wedding!

Or are small gifts for both gals just fine? Not if they are one of the people who can cover your shift so you can have some vacation time to go get married! You can't take the whole office with you or there won't be anyone to cover! How is all of that going, by the way? Any news from your boss?
  22. My parents are devout Catholics and FI and I are not religious at all. (Spiritual, but no organized religion.) Mom is pretty sad that we aren't having a Catholic ceremony, and honestly, I find it quite endearing. She truly believes, with all of her soul, that the way to start a marriage with a stable foundation is to have the church's blessing. So, while she's bugging the crap out of me, I know it's just because she wants us to have a wonderful marriage, and to her, we have a better shot at having a wonderful marriage if it has been thoroughly blessed. So, don't be too upset at your FMIL. It's hard for people of that generation to understand the DW thing, and it's even harder for devout Catholics to grasp not having a priest present. We are definitely taking them out of their comfort zones! I think it's great that you're meeting in the middle and considering a small Catholic ceremony in addition to what you really want to do. Can you imagine how many novenas your FMIL would be saying if you didn't? I think my mom has already started doing rosaries!
  23. I'm going to give options, but you don't have to. I have been to weddings where they just do a surf and turf, so everyone gets a little of both red meat and fish. But we're going to give options. (Unless something changes at the menu tasting in a couple of weeks!) We have lots of vegetarians too, so we need a few options. But the no options deal makes things a lot easier because you don't have to worry about what everyone selected and deal with the logisitics of making sure everyone gets the right plate... But I think either way you are fine!
