Why not register for a few items there - things you might like to keep, like sheets, towels, etc... If you change your mind after the wedding, you can always return everything for cash. I know it's a bit sneaky, but this way people who want to give gifts can and no one is offended. Ha, Galit, we did add things to our BBB registry that we have every intention of returning for cash, so we can buy some other stuff we want but is too expensive to register for, like furniture. Some of my married gfs gave me that tip! Sorry, there's no way around saying this: It's tacky to ask for cash. Anybody remember the thread I posted awhile back about the DW invite my FI and I got from a friend in Mexico? First of all, they included a gift registry enclosure, which is tacky anyway -- you should never solicit your own gifts, that's what showers are for, when someone else sends out the invites and can include that info. And also, that's what wedding websites are for, where you can post the info if they want to see it, but its much less agressive than sending it in an invitation. Anyway, the people included little enclosures with the invitation asking for cash gifts and then had the balls to but their bank account numbers "for easy transfer" ---my FI was so offended, he threw out the invite, we didn't attend and we certainly didn't send a gift. If you want things like sheets, pots & pans anyway, why dont you just register for them Then just add a bunch of other stuff from BBB and return it. It's better for you to have the hassle of returning stuff rather than offending your guests. People don't forget that stuff. The DW I mentioned above was in early Nov 07, and our circle of friends is still actively talking about it like it was yesterday anytime anything comes up about wedding etiquette. You can also, at many places, just register for gift cards.

Happy Birthday Jessica (JessicalovesBrian)

happy birthday jessica! have a wonderful day! -
most important -- do not let your dress out of your sight, and do NOT ship it. ok first a few questions: 1) do you have a hotel yet? the WC at the hotel should be able to tell you if they can press your dress on premises. 2) have you booked your airline, or at least chosen which airline you'll fly? oftentimes if you call your airline after booking to tell them you're flying for a DW and will be carrying your dress, depending on the airline, they will either let you hang it in the 1st class/captain's closet, or give you your own overhead bin for it. angela is right though, my dress shop is doing what she recommended -- filling the top section with a form to keep the breast shape.

I also like the fact that at White Aisle, you can order any amount above 25, not just in increments of 25. I ordered 30. Hope that helps somewhat! oh fantastic! i think its called deckle edge. i was planning on ordering the ivory too. would you mind taking pics and posting of everything you ordered from them and how each piece looks? i am so excited now!!!! i was considering ordering matching menu cards if i liked the invitations enough too because i dont really wanna DIY those. i also was planning ot order them with the flat printing. i love the letterpress, theyre just way way over my budget.

omg i just read the whole thing, and now im hooked. shit. -
karma those are so gorgeous! actually, i looked at those in the beginning of looking for invitations a few months ago and my FI vetoed them because he doesnt like things with palm trees on them. but i think your invites look totally first class, and props to you - i know assembling stuff takes forever when you're a perfectionist. it took me about 12 hours total spaced over a number of days to print and assemble all my STDs. way to go girl!

we're staying in cabo for 6 days after the wedding. and then in summer of 2009, we have friends getting married in paris (they live there), so we're going to go early and make it our 1 yr anniversary trip topped off by attending the wedding! i'm almost as excited for that as for our own wedding haha

Thinking about going off the pill soon...anything I should know?
Maura replied to chicago88's topic in Random Thoughts
my friend had no intention of getting prego on the honeymoon, but she started taking them because her hair and nails were not in great shape, and her stepmom told her to try prenatal vitamins. not sure what it is in them that made her hair look so shiny and her nails so healthy, but dang she looked good! -

good call about the prenatal vitamins! was wondering... did anybody take them before their wedding? i had a friend who did and her hair and skin had never looked better. wondering if it's worth a shot? -

when i quit taking the pill, i was actually a lot less bitchy in general. i lost a bunch of weight too! the first couple periods were rough because my body was adjusting to its natural cycle, but then after that it was mostly like clockwork unless i got stressed. i got a copper IUD last july, which is non-hormonal, and my body works just the same now as it did when i was on no BC, like clockwork unless im super stressed and then my period is late.
