  1. true. it does depend on the sand. her dress did get dirty though when we were walking around the ruins . it was a trash the dress shoot though so what can you expect haha. as for the knee length this was the shot i was talking about
  2. well kimb looks like its just the two of you.. hey that just means you will not have to fight for the cool locations and stuff . the entire island will be yours.. wehre in DC are you getting married at? i just shot a wedding at the botanical gardens and ironically the next wedding inDC i shoot is in the same place. it was so pretty with the fall leaves
  3. ya. well i learned the hard way about the sellign yourself part. i almost got banned because i was considered realy close to soliciting. now i just let them contact me. and yes. your photographer did awesome work. there is some real talent on this website
  4. oh i FULLYY agree with you nic d. im sorry to say that there are far to many photogarphers out there that arent up front about waht they will deliver. they act more like mechanics and throw additional fees and costs and expenses in there after the fact or the day of the wedding. and sorry. i miss read what you were asking. ya. i think that for 3bucks the "proof" better be an edited image. ps. checked out your stuff. great work. glad to see you represent well. this website is great but really watch your step and make sure you dont solicite. i was in the forums and i almost got banned because i wasnt quite sure of the rules. now im all good
  5. oh the photos will turn out great then. im fairly certain my dad was there when he was staying on st thomas when i was a little kid. it looks very famliar.

MAKE SUURE you see the photos from an entire wedding. never settle for just a few select ones. any monkey can be given a camera and capture a few quality images if you dont see the same quality through out the entire wedding i really strongly suggest you keep looking
  7. a proof is usually a 4x6 image or a collection of smaller images in a book so you can see which ones you might want to print out bigger. the thing is if you are paying 3 bucks for a proof (which is just a normal quality print and usually injk jet if its a book) then that means youa re going to be paying out the noooose for the actual print. and if you have to pay for the disk (especially that much) you are getting scammed out of money. personally i think photographers should include all images on a disk to start with. i can understand if its a celebrity wedding its different but come on. WOW. im still floored over that cost for the disk. Quote: Originally Posted by Nic D ya sounds expensive to me... what is a proof? is it an image straight out of the camera or an edited photo?
  8. hahaha. well... maybe one will come along.. ps.. your avatar should get some better dance moves what is that. the cabage patch?
  9. i shot a bride down in san diego who had a just below the knee dress and at first i didnt think much of it as a great dress UNTILLLL we went down to the beach and took pics and it made for such great photos. plus they dont get so dirty when you are walking around. more brides should consider it beach wise
  10. oh the beaches in the carribean are probably my fave ever. you really cant go wrong. is that where you are having your ceremony onthe beach there? that would make for a gorgeous backdrop
  11. wow 3 bucks for a single PROOF? AND 2,500 for all the images on a disk ON TOP of the cost of the photography?? good lord. for that kind of money you could bring in two photographers from the states for a week practically. She lives in St. Croix, so her travel fee to St. Thomas is $200 or $400 (can't remember off the top of my head). And, if you want a CD of all the photos--- $2,500.... 12. ahh wowww. all those activites you listed really makes me just wanna up and go there right now... my dad went there when i was a kid and took a gorgeous picture of the beach and blew it up poster size and i dreamt of going there for the longest time. beaches are gorgeous there
  13. these VI brides need to start paying attention. maybe they are shy
  14. when it comes to DW photographers you dont really have to worry about a certain area and ones that specialize there. i have found that most photographers that do DW's are willing to just about anywhere. go into the threads that photographers post and look around and find ones that you like and just start emailing or calling and you will soon find a great one within your budget and one that you click with personality wise. there are tons of good photographers out there and on this site. hope to see the photos soon after your wedding
  15. really your best bet is to find one from the states. you will atleast know that you two can communicate. and you will have the photographer for more then 3 hours. it will usually cost more but when you break down what you are getting its so worth it. have them come out a couple days and you can get several days worth of photography and remember all the other times. my advise is to also talk to them on the phone if they arent someone you can meet in person. make sure you click with them personality wise and that they arent boring. the photographer is going to be with you for quite a while. last thing you want is someone who annoys you PS. i made a new signature image. can everyone see that okay or are the images too small?
  16. oh those are gonna make for some gorgeous photos. you better be posting those up come may
  17. that is really nice. its sad to see how poor the DR is when you travel through on yoru way to the resorts. its such a sureal experience in a way when you look at the dichotomy between resort and the real DR. i never felt in harms way ever but then again i never traveled outside of the resort not about to venture far with 9,000 worth of camera equipement haha
  18. my money is always on dreams resorts. realy exceptional quality. atleast in tulum mexico. the beaches in the DR are probably my favorite almost anywhere. its all crushed coral so they stay cooler even in the hot sun. i icant lend much more help on locations . i stayed at the RIU there and it was nice but not the nicest ever. i had no real complaints though.
  19. that is such a great way to bring the cost down of a photographer. you split the cost of the flight and most likely a nice chunk of the hotel costs in half. i told one couple once that i wouldnt even have to charge them for the flight down because i was going to be there the week before so they would have had to spring for an extra night hotel in between the two wedding days and that was it. if you can find someone jump on it.
  20. did you find a photo yet? i can go through my DR pics if you ahvent and send you some if you like. Quote: Originally Posted by DanielleNDerek I want to make postcards for my welcome bags. 21. well i just shot a wedding in DR at the RIU there and it was nice but not the nicest. some of the help didnt speak english to well but you make do and get your point across. hahaha. i had no problem with my hotel room except for the power blew out one night and i was able to find the fuse box and reset it. some guests had to change rooms because of problems. the next month though i was at the dreams resort in tulum mexico and it totally blew me away with everything. ive never seen more curteous more helpful personal at any hotel ever and the rooms were so clean and nice. i would really look into the dreams resort though wherever you go. if its anything like the tulum one you will get your moneys worth 5 times over.
  22. you are going to be so happy that you chose kauai. its the best island by far. hands down its one of my favorite places on earth. we will all be looking forward to the photos come march
  23. my theory.. you cant EVER be too prepared when it comes to your wedding music. if you dont have an ipod just make a couple cds with the music you want played. MAKE SURE they are .wav files though and not .mp3 files because not all cd players can play .mp3's and better to be safe then sorry. cluster the music together too, have a couple dance cds and maybe a one or two slow cds. also make sure you have a nice numberd list breaking down what songs are on what cd so that the dj can find them easily. ipods are always easy and convenient but you cant always be sure they have the right connectors to plug it into their system. and ps. thanks for the compliments on the pics. it was most likely the gorgeous couple haha Quote: Originally Posted by urbangirl5 Hi Laura, You're pictures are just gorgeous!! 25. k heres what i dont get. hahaha. im so trying to learn this forum thing still. but if this is MY forum and i leave a message saying i have someones wedding date open in my forum how is that me spamming them? im doing my best here Quote: Originally Posted by Sarah Consider this a warning: vendors aren't allowed to spam, advertise, solicit, etc. We expect our vendors' work to speak for itself and do not tolerate advertisement without checking in with a moderator or the host first.
