  1. So....I'm a fairly new member and already I went MIA for a while. I was just getting so frustrated. I guess I am just not the patient person that I thought I was. I have been e-mailing with the Resort WC for over 6 weeks now. We FINALLY reached a decision with date, time, cost, etc. (which I was very pleased with I must say).....then she sends me the contract last week and now wants me to pay the ENTIRE (location fee, food, taxes, and fees) cost of our July 2008 wedding before January 2008!! FI and I were planning on paying for most of our wedding with our tax returns but now since it's due so soon, the majority of it is now going to have to go on a credit card which we were trying to avoid. The other problem I have is that she wants us to pay for the reception food up-front in this "non-refundable deposit" (aka - the entire cost), but we only have an "estimated" number of guests. I'm worried about what will happen if our guests start backing out. Well....bottom line is we will probably suck it up and pay what/how she wants because we really like the place and I don't want to start all conversations from scratch. But I just needed to get this whole story off to people who care and understand the frustration! Thanks....and have a great day!!!!
  2. Thank you for the link and information. And your invitations are beautiful!
  3. WOW! Thank you so much for all this information. What a sweetie you are! I hope you had a wonderful trip.
  4. Oh My Gosh!!! Beautiful. What time was the ceremony? I love that Juan got to take pictures of the dance. And I agree with an earlier post - the last picture is PERFECT.
  5. That would be fantastic if you can ask! Is that one of the places you were considering already? Please post anything you find out and have a GREAT time out there!
  6. Great question. I think this is what I will do as well. I'll probably just take out the tape, ribbon, pins, etc and just hope to find some beautiful, reasonably priced flowers. I'm hoping for the gerbera daisies!
  7. We have finally decided to go ahead and book at Casa del Mar. FH is just in love with this place. So I e-mail Claudia at CDM and tell her we would like to go ahead and book for July 22 and this is the response I get. "So far we are not reserving weddings from July 15 on until the beginning of October... the reason is that we have a major project for our main pool to be done during this period... If you want I can check if is possible to have the wedding on the beach and beach club reception, but not get to the location through the resort, this way your guests won't see any construction, there is access directly to the Beach Club (Beach and Beach Club won't be affected at all and will be very nice), your guests can use this access (Maye knows this and can tell you more)." So now what do we do? We have talked about trying to move it up but because my son doesn't get out of school until mid-June and his birthday is June 30, I really didn't want to try to squeeze it between there. And we have several family members that are unable to take off of work during 4th of July. Should I trust that we won't be disturbed by the construction and that there is an alternate way to make it to the beach club?

  9. Bridget - thank you for the info on the de Cortez restaurant. I will search for Jessalyn's review and see if she has pictures of the Palapa. Tammy - I just looked through your pictures (again) and I just LOVE your little individual cakes! Did de Cortez make those for you? Did you have your reception at de Cortez? And I just got online this morning and sent in a request to the Sheraton so I'll let you know what they say. Janet - I hadn't looked at Cabo Surf at all, but your photos have inspired me to check it out. Is there more than one option for reception? After talking with FI last night, and looking at all the pictures on this site, we have realized that a beach wedding is beautiful no matter where it is held, so we are not going to pick based on the ceremony. We are more concerned with the reception location and we realize it is because of all the kids we are going to be having as guests. We don't want to keep the kids bottled up in an enclosed restaurant for hours, and we don't want to be directly next to a pool because it would be too hard for the kids to resist (especially my kid!), so that is why we are looking for something very open that would allow the kids to play in the sand directly next to where adults are enjoying dinner and dancing. And we are also very concerned with a "kids" menu because we obviously don't want to pay $60+ for a kid to eat 1/4 of an adult meal. I'm guessing this will be the most difficult part in planning a destination wedding - not being able to actually hop in my car and check out the location options....
  10. Nrvsbride, Thank you for the response. I LOVE the view and elegance of Sunset Da Mona Lisa, but we really want to be married directly on the beach, and we want the reception to be practically on the beach, we figured since we are having so many kids, they would rather play in the sand then sit and have dinner!
  11. Hello lovely brides and brides-to-be! I am still fairly new to this site and have been reading through every thread on here (it seems like it!). Anyway....I'm still having a tough time deciding on a venue. Let me start off by saying that FI and I are paying for this wedding ourselves, and we each have a child, so I personally don't want to spend a fortune on this wedding, we just want to be married, and have a beautiful setting. So we know we want to be married directly on a beach in the corridor (though we are staying at either Villa del Palmar or Cabo Villas). And it is very important to FI that there aren't alot of random people around during the ceremony or the reception, so we are looking for someplace where the weddings are held in a pretty seculed area. Let me also say that we will most likely get married on a Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'm wondering if prices can be negotiated for a weekday wedding? Right now we are at about 25-30 adult guests and about 8-10 kids (under the age of 10). Casa del Mar is FI's top choice. I also LOVE the look of the place and think it fits well with our requests. However, I feel they are a bit expensive. The "beach club" location is $2,500 to reserve and plated dinners start at $85. My next choice is the Sheraton. FI also likes the look of the place but we are wondering how private it is? I have a price list for the food, but haven't come across any location fee or pictures of the reception area. Does anyone have any insight to our choices or can anyone suggest other locations that fit our needs? Because we are having so many children, I'm wondering if any of the locations have "kids" menu's to choose from, I've asked a few WC that I'm e-mailing with, but none have directly responded to that question. I'm sorry this post is so long, and I realize I'm asking alot of different questions, but if you can offer any type of advice, I would very much appreciate it!
  12. WooHoo. Another Colorado bride. Have you gone on your visit yet? Please post anything you find! Thanks.
  13. What a great question. FI and I are planning on having a legal wedding in Mexico as well. We only want to go through it once! We are a bit bummed about having to go out there 2-3 days early for the blood work, because since we are going to cabo on our timeshare, and have to stay Saturday-Saturday, our wedding will be on a Tuesday or Wednesday, but oh well, all of our guests are also going on timeshares so the middle of the week should be fine!
  14. What a great thread! Thanks to all of the brides who posted! I was also hoping to keep the wedding around 8K, but FI said it will be closer to 11K and I'm realizing that he was right. However, we are eliminating alot of expenses. For us - no Rehearsal dinner, no Welcome dinner. A simple ceremony, 1 attendent each, and about 25-35 guests (only about 20 of them are adults though!). My MOH and I are planning on making the bouqets and boutteniers (sp?) when we get out there. The items we would like to be sure about are location and photography, once those things are taken care of, we will be happy!
  15. BEAUTIFUL!! I love looking at wedding pictures. The location is perfect and you and your hubby look fantastic together!

From what we've seen in pictures, we like Casa del Mar and Pitahyas at Sheraton, and Fiesta Americana is also near the top of our list. We want to get married on the beach and prefer the corridor because we are assuming there will be less randmon people than at our hotels (Villa del Palmar and Cabo Villas). Right now I have been e-mailing with Coleen at bajawedding so we are just waiting for prices and food options before we pick a location and date. Thanks again for all the warm welcomes!
  17. What a wonderful letter! Thank you for sharing it.
  18. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! Right now we are looking at Casa del Mar and the Sheraton's Pitahayas which I believe are both along the corridor. Any information (good or bad) on either location would be much appreciated. Have a great day!
  19. Hello Everyone! Time to introduce myself. My name is Christa and I am currently trying to plan a wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Right now we are mostly working with bajawedding.com and they are fantastic at answering my 20 questions per day. So now we are trying to narrow down a location and date! All we know is that it is going to be next summer so that way my son doesn't miss any school I can't wait to start browsing the site and getting to know all of you. Thanks!
