  1. Hooray! How exciting! The good thing is you won't have to worry about all those legalities at your destination and can get a better deal on the wedding package! WOO HOO! I am always all for that!
  2. We realize that not everyone will be able to come to our DW, due to conflicting schedules or because they cannot afford it. But I have one friend, who before we even announced when or WHERE the wedding would be, she said, Oh I probably won't go. I said, HUH? It was so odd to me. We hadn't even picked a date or place for the wedding yet. It was when we announced our engagement. Ah, well. I will be thankful for anyone that comes!
  3. We will just go in for our marriage license during regular operating hours (at courthouse). Then from there the lady said we can either choose to get married that day or make an appointment for whenever is convenient for us. FUN! We are bringing our own minister from church to marry us in DR. I am so excited!
  4. I use Yasmin birth control pills. I have for about 3 years now and I loove them! I've never had a problem at all with them and love that they have lower hormone levels.
  5. That is wonderful that he is helping you! Jorge just says 'yes' or 'no' to everything I show him! LOL. My date is early July so we may marry close to eachother time-wise!
  6. I'm getting married at an Iberostar in Dom Rep. They had a garden, gazebo, and beach location for the wedding. Oh and also an alternative area in case of rain. I would ask the hotel about other options. They should be accomodating to you and your guests.
  7. I am doing this very thing. Our wedding coordinator said all we need to do is bring our marriage certificate with us (for our symbolic ceremony and symbolic ceremony package/fee)--which, by the way, is actually less expensive than a regular wedding package and includes the SAME THING minus the judge! YOu can get the marriage license, get married, and your marriage certificate all in the same day. Isnt that crazy? P.S. Find out whether your destination venue offers a Symbolic package!
  8. Lady P, Agreed. Ageism and racism are alive and well. Sadly. I am so glad I was not raised to be small-minded. Off topic: I noticed your wedding date says "Someday." Do you guys have any idea of what season or a year it will be? Exciting!
  9. I am really into exercise. It helps you look better, feel better, and is a GREAT energy boost! My advice to you is this. Follow it like a hawk. You can do it! Eat 5-6 small meals a day. Be really strict w/ this. I do this from Mon-Fri and on the weekends, eat whatever I want. Exercise! In order to lose weight, you MUST burn more calories than you are taking in. So cardio is the answer to that. You could walk 45 minutes 4 times a week. Start lifting weights and voila, in two months, you will DEF see a different. I lost 12 pounds in 2.5 months doing this. A long time ago. And have kept the weight off since.
  10. This story saddens me. It's baffling that in this day and age, racism is still alive and thriving. I am so glad Mychal Bell's conviction was overturned on Friday. However, he still sits in jail. The fact that Jena has trees deemed for only whites, or any certain race, is disgusting and appalling. Racism is such a stupid, stupid thing.
  11. That dress is lovely! It has a very roman/greek goddess look to it. Beautiful!
  12. Lizz, I made a wedding website that I will include on my STDs. I need to send those out soon. Thanks for enlightening me on the AHR! So many acronyms, so little time to decode them!
  13. Lizz, That is great! YOu guys are going to have a big turn out. Did you already send out your invites? And what does AHR mean? Can somebody school me?
  14. Wisco, you kind of look like Natalie Portman. Anyone ever told you that?
  15. We are getting married in Dom. Rep. and are inviting 150 people. I wonder how many will actually show! Are you guys anticipate a big or small wedding?
  16. That is GORGEOUS! I love all the lace on it and the bottom part that is tulle! LOVELY!
  17. Darren, I have all of the pricing info for both Iberostar Punta Cana and Ibero Bavaro. Just email me if you would like me to send them to you.
  18. Again, let me just say, your invites/save-the-dates are GORGEOUS! You are so creative!!! Everything looks fabulous!
  19. I hit the gym last night after work. I sleep so much better when I exercise! It's only 10 a.m. here so I will probably go again tonight
  20. Please make sure to go to the last post of this thread, "quote" the last entry and add your wedding date in chronological order. **some individual entries were erased during house cleaning - go to the LAST POST for the accurate list** Thanks to Erica for staring this post on 9/11/2007..." I was on another forum and saw everyone had copy/pasted the date in the previous to add on their wedding date. So by the end of it, it was pretty much a year's worth of weddings! I thought that would be fun to do here!" - Erica (cmmdee)
  21. Iberostar Punta Cana in the Dominican Repubilc. I can't wait! 9 more months. Seems like forever but at the same time, I have SO much stuff to do! We picked it because Punta Cana is absolutely GORGEOUS. The ocean looks like something out of my wildest dreams/fantasies/movies. It truly is paradise on Earth!
  22. This is exactly what we plan on doing! I already told the front desk at Iberostar that my fi and I would like to be far away from everyone else. He was so great and told me he could even get all my guests in the same building complex...and us far far away! LOL. We will most likely go to a different hotel at the end of it all. The only thing I advise you to look into is transportation with your travel package. B/c most travel agents will set it up for you leaving the resort that you ARRIVED to initially. Discuss it with your travel agent so you can set it up! WEDDINGMOON! LOL
  23. And I apologize for the many posts... I was not sure if it was posting or not!
