  4. Welcome to the forums! Great to see another DR Bride!
  5. I am getting married at the Paradisus PC in July. I have a ton of information regarding menus and price upgrades for things like the carriage. PM me and I'll email the files to you. I'm not sure about the resort photographer, as I am bringing my own. Foxy got married there recently, so hopefully she can fill us in on details when she gets back!
  6. Oh it may very well be perfectly healthy! Maybe I'm just too scared to try it...lol.
  7. Thanks for that link on the "real-touch" flowers. I think I'll order one tonight! Do you think it'll look ok with a cala lilly bouquet?
  8. I read this AWESOME thread on colon cleansing recently. Unfortunately I can't access it from work, but I will edit this post with the link tonight. Basically a bunch of doctors and nurses and people smarter than me were very opposed to Colonic Cleansing. They said the "unusual" long stringy things that people often see are actually a normal part of your colon which needs to stay in there! In fact, I think one quote that sticks out in my mind was, "Congratulations, you just necrosed the mucosal lining of your colon". I dunno, after reading all that I'm too scared to do it. I'll find and post that link as soon as I get home..
  9. Hey all! So I saw the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" this weekend and totally got inspiration for my wedding day hair! I'd like to do something like this: Anyone know what kind of flower that is, or another type of flower that would look similar? Also, does my hair flower have to match my bouquet? I was thinking of multi-colored cala lillies for my bouquet...help!
  10. We have decided on the Caribbean trio for our ceremony music. Does anyone have experience with these types of musicians at any of the resorts (I'm getting married at Paradisus PC)? I'm just curious as to what selection I will be able to choose from. Can I expect that they will know the traditional wedding march? Do they know any other "standards"?
  11. I can't seem to find ANY shoes that I like. My dress is "natural" colored silk chiffon, and I need flats b/c of my height. I've seen quite a few girls doing colored shoes....I'd love to see pics of how that looks.
  12. These are too cute, and I'm stealing your idea! I went to Dollar General this weekend and found cute travel mugs with a handle and lid in bright green and turquoise for $1.50 each. I plan on painting names on them, and I love the idea of the rub-ons. Would those be available at a craft store like Hobby Lobby? Are they with scrapbooking supplies or somewhere else that I wouldn't think to look? Great idea!
  13. Congratulations! Can't wait to hear all about it!
  14. We are going to another island for our Honeymoon. We figured since we were already in the Caribbean, we might as well see another place! We'll be going to Sandals Negril in Jamaica for 6 days after we leave Punta Cana.

Damn, that is expensive! My package at the Paradisus costs $2750, and includes the wedding, a short cocktail party after the ceremony, and a beach reception with a buffet for 20 people. Each additional person is $60 I think. Maybe check another resort?
  16. I need some advice on getting photo books printed. I'd like to give my mother and MIL a book with pictures from our engagement session as well as the engagement party. I know that Snapfish offers this, but I was wondering if there were any other vendors out there that anyone has used with success? Ideally I'd like to have lots of options for layouts, colors, text, etc. Any suggestions?
  17. I am getting married in July at the Paradisus in Punta Cana, DR, and from what I've seen so far, I am glad I chose the DR. I had looked into the USVI, Bahamas, and Puerto Rico and found the DR to have the best options for me. There are a ton of great AIs to choose from in various price ranges, and lots of affordable choices. The rates at the Paradisus are affordable enough so that all my guests that want to come are able, and the wedding/reception packages are reasonable as well with TONS of choices. We are doing a buffet reception on the beach and I think our whole package will run about $3000. If you haven't already looked into the DR, I'd say definitely check it out.

  19. Welcome to the forum! I'm a July Paradisus Punta Cana bride. Great to see another PC bride! And grats on your engagement!
  20. I'm thinking of picking up one of these - Waterproof Camera Cases: Digital, SLR, Point & Shoot for mine and my mother's camera. Might be a bit pricy for OOT bags, but looks neat nonetheless.
  21. I'm doing the Chill Out Chic reception. I like the idea of a night buffet on the beach. We are having about 25 guests.
  22. Hrm, I haven't heard anything about this either, and I am in Baton Rouge. I'll ask around though!

Welcome and congrats from a fellow DR bride! I am getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana in July, and the rates for the resort run around $250 a night. With airfare, my mom is staying 6 nights for about $1800. There are TONS of nice resorts in PC, so definitely check out that area. I went with the Paradisus PC because it's a beautiful 5 star resort, kid friendly, and the price was affordable. Congrats again!
  24. I personally don't know much about boob jobs in particular, but I had my nose done back in 1999, and it was the best decision I ever made. I think plastic surgery, when done for the right reasons, is a wonderful thing that can really help your self esteem. I do suggest - do a LOT of research on your surgeon. Get a recommendation from other doctors, friends, whatever; and talk to more than one if you aren't blown away by the first guy. Ask to see examples of his work. I ended up with a GREAT nose guy who specialized in face work...I heard of him through my family doctor and he was great. My mom had a breast reduction by a different doctor and it turned out terrible (she had hers years before I had my surgery, so I learned from her mistake). I also recommend getting it done EARLY, especially if you are trying to do it before your wedding. Things can sometimes happen and complications CAN occur, even with the best surgeon out there. I ended up having a second surgery due to a fluke complication (my body's fault, not the doctor) a year or so after my first. From what I know of boob jobs, they definitely need time to 'settle' and for the scars to heal. Best of luck with your decision!
  25. OMG that is a great idea! Where could I find something like that?
