  1. How precious!!! Congratulations!!! I cant wait to have a house so that we can get a second dog!!
  2. I figured this thread needed a bump! So how are all the mommies to be and the new mommies doing? How's everyone feeling?
  3. Just got to work after the gym. Did 30mins of pretty intense cardio. I've been careful in increasing the intensity for the obvious reasons:) So my BF and I decided to increase our workouts to 5X a week. M-F with M,W,F cardio and T, R weights. We start next week.

I think the most direct thing to do is call your outsourced maternity leave customer service line and ask them specific questions and also your HR department. They should know this information cold. Sorry this did not directly answer your question but between those two, you should find out what you need. Thank you! Well, I know for a fact that I have total job security with no possiblities of any kind of change for at least 12 weeks; unpaid. I do get STD for 6 (or weeks paid. But, I keep reading about something with an extra tax you pay when you work in NJ and this new law that is supposed to go into effect some time in 2009 that is cover paid leave for up to another few weeks but I cant find anything definite. The best thing I found was a NY times article and they were not specific at all. They do offer that for Long term disability but not short term in my company Quote: Originally Posted by Alyssa interesting! my DH works in NJ but for a German co. and he gets 6 months of paternity leave - 3 of it paid - WTF!?! i hope that doesn't change before we have a baby. europeans know how to live! lol Get this, my husband's family is from Russia and mine is from Ukraine. Well, we were talking to his g-mom over the weekend and she asked about leave from work. I told her what we get and she was shocked. In Russia, they get a year and a half; PAID!!!!!
  5. Hello ladies. I kept searching the web and can't seem to find anything concrete and since my dear BDW ladies know everything, I was hoping you could help me out:) So, I discovered some disappointing news yesterday. I dont know how but, I was under the impression that maternity leave = short term disability and my company allows for up to 6m paid. I guess the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" statement applies here! It's 6 weeks paid for normal delivery and 8 weeks paid for a C-Section and of course the unpaid 12 weeks federal FMLA that runs concurrently. I was also told that right now, the state of NJ also provides it's own 12 weeks that start after STD ends of unpaid leave that is simply a job security. So, the benefits guy tells me that there is a new law going into effect next year (2009) that will provide more paid leave in NJ than just STD and I didn't think of asking for more details I found a few things here and there on it but, nothing concrete. If you know anything about this new law, please reply!!!! I know I'm due end of May but I feel like I really need to start thinking about this stuff!
  6. I did a painful 30 mins on the eliptical this morning. I dont know why it was so tough. I'm thinking of taking my friend up on the offer and going for a spin class this weekend. Since I just started back into it, I'm trying to take it easy but I think it's time to amp up my workouts a bit.
  7. My cousing just went there for a mini honeymoon in August. They said it was beautiful but be prepared to pay for EVERYTHING. I mean $5 for a bottle of water, etc., etc. For me that was kind'a shocking since when I go to beach vacations, we do all inclusive. And another thing is that outside the resort, there is nothing to do. I mean no excursions, nothing at all. You're stuck in there

Hopefully, it will continue this way. Yesterday was a bad day for me though. I ate something at breakfast that didn't agree with me the rest of the day. My stomach blew up and hurt soooo bad. It sort'of stopped after lunch and then once I got home, it started again. Super weird! Needless to say, I barely slepped the night and didn't get up for my morning work out!

I taught him to crawl and walk and talk and ...... I can honestly say that I feel more prepared to become a mom having 2 young siblings. I almost feel like it gave me the experience none of my friends had the privilage of having! I'm sure your Morgans will be very happy to have a brother or a sister and it will be a wonderful sibling bond! Look at it this way, you'll always have a free sitter! My parents sure did!

  13. I can proudly answer this post as YES! It's funny that I couldnt get my butt to the gym before getting knocked-up and now I'm there before work which is unheard of for me since I have never been a morning person. I have to give a lot of credit to my BF, I only get there b/c I know I have to meet her! Today was only my 3rd time but I feel like I can really keep this up as long as my BF sticks with it too. It feels great! I feel so energized!
  14. Hey Kelly and Maureen, how old are your Morgans? As the oldest of 3 children with 12 years between my brother and I and 18 (yes 1 years between my sister and I (oh and we all have the same mom and dad!!!) maybe I can help out the two of you!
  15. I was complaining to girls at work today that I dont look pregnant and that I've been super bloaded. They told me I dont look any different so I guess the fat thing is in my head. I have a co-worker who's about 4 weeks ahead of me (due beginnign of May) and she's been showing for a few weeks now. I told my best friend that I want to show and she said that I'll have plenty of time for that so I'm waiting!

We are so happy and I can't wait to be a Mommy! It's a bit early to tell friends and family but I feel like I might burst if I don't tell anyone so here I am. Congratulations to all of you! That is wonderful!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have a due date yet? probably not from the doc but, I found out those online calculators (the ones that ask how long your cycle is) are very accurate!

I have my second u/s on January 9th when I'm 20 weeks and DH and I are really hoping to find out. I've been getting mostly boy forecasts (everyone has their own weird system on guessing) but some girl too. lol I told them all they have a 50/50 chance! LOL Either way, it really doesn't matter as long as it's a healthy baby! I still wanna know sooner rather than later though

I told at work on Monday. I wanted to tell my manager before I told everyone else and it was just perfect timing b/c I had a meeting with her. I've only been at this job 5months but, felt pretty comfy telling and everyone responded very positive. I figured I was at 14 weeks and had my first u/s and got the results of my sequel screen back so decided it was safe the spread the news. I'm sure you'll figure out when it's ok for you to tell. For me, it just felt right:)
