I must say that my only complaint was my hair! I liked it when the stylist did it- it was half up and half down, but the curls and hairspray did not hold up to the heat and humidity! Other than that, it was a perfect day!

Thank you everyone!!!! We had an absolute perfect day! I could not be happier! My photographer said it is going to be about 3 weeks until I get pictures! Bre.... I was looking for you on Saturday, but not see you at all. I hope all was well. I looked at the pictures we took, and your eyes were closed in both of them! I hope yours turned out!

It worked great for us- a little smaller of an area than some of the other options, but we only had 40 people. -
I just got back from there on Monday, so let me know if you have any questions!

Size of EDR Resort?
SheaS replied to DenverDana's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I just got back from EDR on Monday, and was married at the Gazebo 55 on Saturday! The Gazebo was my favorite of all the choices... good pick! I do have to say though that the resort is enormous!! It was a slight pain to walk in between functions. I believe the reception area you are talking about is Gaviotas, which is near the casita section, which is kind of a far walk from the Gazebo, but really, during your stay you will be doing a lot of walking!! I got ready in our casita (3030), our ceremony was at 55 (the complete opposite end of our casita), then dinner at El Cocotal (which was in the lobby), then cocktail hour at the Health Bar (near the casita section) and finally ended up at Guacamayas!!!! Needless to say we pretty much covered the resort. It really wasn't that bad, but just remember- THEY DO NOT OFFER RESERVED SHUTTLES, and there aren't near enough shuttles running as there should be. And, you will see one about every 20 minutes, so in that amount of time, you can walk where ever you were headed!! Anyways, if it is Gaviotas, I don't think I would really worry about the walk. There is the beach bar on the way which everyone can stop at and grab a cocktail for the walk! -
Oh Bre, I am right there with you. For some reason, accuweather's prediction is better than weather.com. For our reception, we have to stay at the Health Bar, and they will be pulling down the plastic curtains! I am not crazy about this idea either!

My travel agent has been great- she has been in contact with all the guests- sending them the final payment details, she gave them all luggage tags, she sent flying tips, offered to set up transportation to the airport (from home).... she worked very hard with finding the right resort for us too...

This is a list that my travel agent included in the guest's travel documents before she mailed them. Thought I would share: Flying Tips Selly Wedding Flight departs from the Humphrey Terminal. Please arrive at least 2 ½ to 3 hours prior to flight. Please verify flight times 24 hours prior to departure. Seats will be assigned at check-in. Passports will be required. This is all you will need to show when checking in and at airport security. Name on passport must match documents. Checked Baggage You may check two (2) bags, each weighing up to 50 pounds, free of charge. · The first bag may be up to 62 inches combined linear measurement (length plus width plus height) · The second bag may be 55 inches combined linear measurement (length plus width plus height). Baggage in excess of these weights and/or sizes is subject to an additional charge and space availability. Bags weighing more than 100 pounds and items longer than five (5) feet will not be accepted as checked baggage. 3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure. Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening Beverages purchase beverages after going through airport security if you wish to take it on board. Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere to the Department of Transportation (DOT) exemption, which allows up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. That is what I am afraid of. They ren't the best quality umbrellas, but I think they will work in a pinch. -
EDR Hidden Fees?

I went to the dollar tree yesterday, and they have umbrellas for 1.00... I am thinking I might grab one for everyone and put it in the oot bags just in case. Valeria said that only the Casita section gets umbrellas, -

The prices are outrageous. There is one bottle of red wine on the list that we drink frequently at home for $9. We typically pay around $36 in a restaurant. EDR wants $80 a bottle! Hopefully I won't run into any hidden charges when we are down there next week. See you at the pool Shea!! We arrive Monday afternoon... and are staying in the Casitas... I juts looked at the weather report on weather.com. Bre, it is not looking good for us! It pretty much says rain all week! -

PV Emergency Contacts
SheaS replied to starchild's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I did something similar... in a way I guess. I mailed out a package to my guests about a month ago, and it had a "contact card" that I made in it. I printed out emergency information like flight schedules, resort contacts like the general manager, and our travel agents info. I made it into a magent for our guests to leave with house sitter, baby-sitters (it is an adults only resort) or pet sitters- or whoever might need that info. while we are gone. Our guests really appreciated them! -
I must say that even these prices are way better than El Dorado Royales... I am paying 500.00 for 45 mintues of a Guitar duo. Everything was at least 500, and some choices were 900.00 for 45 minutes. Talk about insane!

EDR reception location help!
SheaS replied to SheaS's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
The Health Bar is an exception for me because of the goof up with my original location. She stressed that it was a one time thing. The only reason I am considering it over Gaviotas is the pool at the Health Bar. I have already purchased the floating candles for the pool.... -
EDR reception location help!
SheaS replied to SheaS's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
We are having the cocktail party from 8-10. And then planning on heading over the Guacamayas.... We are kind of doing things backwards. We are doing the free dinner at El Cocotal, and then the cocktail party. We are planning on having music, but it is for only 2 hours. We might dance a little, but not too much. Did you like the Health Bar? She mentioned the pool area next to it as well that we could use. -

EDR reception location help!
SheaS replied to SheaS's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
These were the only three options available to us. I guess I could maybe wait until we get there. The thing is that we have letters and instructions for people that I am printing before I leave, which I would like to include this information on. -
EDR reception location help!
SheaS replied to SheaS's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
It just came up. I have had this location for probably 4-5 months, and she sent me this email on Monday. (2 weeks before we leave) I don't know how they didn't know there was a show up until now. I would maybe have the check to see about yours. -
EDR reception location help!
SheaS replied to SheaS's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
We have about 38-40 guests. I think she mentioned it wouldn't be too crowded. Do you know how far this is from the ocean? Thanks, I really appreciate it! -
So, we leave in 2 weeks for our wedding, and I just received this email from Valeria: Hi Shea, The Hotel has informed us that next door from the Covered Pool there will be a night show for all of the guests, and we thought that since you have rented amplifiers and speakers, you won't have enough intimacy to enjoy of the Private Cocktail. I can offer you the Gaviotas Bar (with an Spectacular Ocean view and cement floor) or the White Gazebo Beach Location. I will of course take off the floating candles, and we can trade them for tiki torches (12 of them) to light up the scene. Please let me know your final decision. I apologize for the short notice, but, please trust me,you and your guests, will enjoy much more of your private event. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I have stressed my concerns to Valeria about this, and she then offered me the Health Bar location (It closes at 4:00) So, my new choices are: White Gazebo (I don't think I want this since it is in the sand) Gaviotas (this is not totally private, there are 4 open bar seats. Valeria said that people are respectful during private events, and usually continue.. it is close to the ocean, and has a cement floor) Health Bar (never offered for wedding parties, but due to circumstances, she is allowing it.... near small pool) SO, for your EDR brides who have been to EDR, which location do you recommend?
