  1. I don't think I would want a guy either. I am in the same boat too... I know photographers, but want someone who has experience with these types of photos... and who has a classy location.
  2. Does anyone know of a B photographer they can recommend for the Minneapolis area? Are any of the other Minnesota brides getting them done and can recommend someone? I guess I would rather not have to pay for someone to travel for these... I preferably would want them to have a location since our house just really isn't that pretty... or sexy. Any suggestions?
  3. Does anyone know of a good website where you can get wedding stamps? I want something pretty, and I found some on the knot, but I think they came out to be like .79 cents per stamp- and that's not worth it. I don't mind spending a little more per stamp, but not double. Thanks-
  4. It was Fiesta Americana Condesa- I absolutely love this hotel, but it didn't work with our budget. We were all going to book AI- it typically is E... but then they wouldn't let us eat or drink there after the wedding for the recpetion without paying a "per person" rate which was about 75.00 per person. Which for those taking a 3 day trip, it really wouldn't be worth the AI for them since 2 days were traveling out of the 3. But they wanted the entire group to book one way or the other, AI or E... does this make sense? The E plan is expensive, since an average breakfast is 25.00, and drinks range from $5-$15... so, my second choice has always been EDR. I feel like I am starting over! I have been negotiating prices with them for months, and now it is not going to work....
  5. No, you read it right. I guess I found out thought that you can eat at a restaurant for your reception dinner and use the AI, but it won't be private. They will charge for a private event. The other resort I was dealing with would not even let us do that. They wanted us to even pay for the drinks... coffee, soda even.
  6. Can anybody tell me if they will include the reception dinner with the AIa t the EDR? I have been dealing with a resort who would not let us eat or drink with the AI for the reception dinner. Needless to say, we are on the search for a new resort. Also, I notice their package prices are for up to 30 people for the weddings... how much do they charge for more than that? Any information would be helpful.... Thanks so much!
  7. I found these on ebay.... eBay: CORONA EXTRA 12-PACK INSULATED COOLER BEACH BAG NEW (item 280094156762 end time Mar-21-07 18:37:40 PDT)
  8. Does anyone know of any cheap biodegradable sunscreen? I have read that is you plan to go snorkeling or swimming with the dolphins that it needs to be biodegradable... any info.?
  9. I thought so, and I might get them printed.... They will also kind of triple as their gifts. I have one at home and we use it alot because it is nice to throw it over your shoulder.... and I use mine as my carry on bag when we travel so we always have a cooler along!
  10. These are the can coolers: Wedding Favors, Wedding Favor Koozies, Unique Wedding Shot Glasses! And although I would rather have differenet colors, I think we are going with these coolers...(because of the price, and the minimum quantity) * CLOSEOUT * Laguna Beach Tote Cooler Promotional
  11. This is the one I wanted, but I don't think we are going to spend this much..... Large Cooler Beach Bag - Small Cooler Beach Bag
  12. Hey all- I just wanted to share... we are doing soft sided coolers for our OOT bags. We found a bunch on the web for as low as 9.99 per bag, and they will double as coolers down there. We are not staying at an AI, so that is why they will come in handy for us! We are also putting all the other goodies in there..... Advil, disposible camera, custom can koozies etc....
  13. Hi Laura.... Thanks again for the info- I am going to look into prices there again. Riley is 3 months old, and is sooo smart. He knows how to sit, stay, shake, lay down, roll over, fetch, and kennel up. he also picked up on the potty training right away. But, he is also turning into a little terror, biting and chewing on everything! Hopefully it is just a phase!

The Grand Oasis was great and seemed deserted a lot of the time, but the drinks weren't all that great. Dreams has way better drinks, but the beach is a little rocky (though still swimmable with GREAT snorkeling). Both places you can walk out in the water and have angelfish swarm all around you. I've heard Azul is great, but it is a little $$$. I've stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal/Tucan a couple of times, and the beach is good, but it's way too big for me. I hear the Iberostar Paraiso whatever is wonderful, some of our friends stayed there and loved it. Again, big and touristy. We also stayed at Catalonia Playa Maroma this New Year's (aka The Proposal) and the beach there is not so great. And that's right next that supposedly great resort Playa Maroma, which we walked past. It looked swank, but the beach was sucky. Does this help? I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but that's my two cents. Good luck! By the way Laura.... nice dogs. Are they both weims? I just got a weimaraner puppy. He is such a good boy.

Thanks for the great info.. you have been to a lot of resorts! When you stayed at Dreams Tulum, did you notice an old and new part of the resort? I have read about that on a lot of forums, and it makes me a little nervous. They mentioned that they old section was "terrible". My travel agent keeps on suggesting we book there, but I think that it is because it is in our price range.... Right now, I am looking into the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo... has anybody been married there? Any pros or cons
  16. I have been to Xel Ha, and totally recommend it. People I traveled with went to the Ruins, and thought it was kind of boring.... and didn't recommend it. I was looking into EDR for my wedding, but have talked with a few people and they said you don't want to swim there. That was my major concern about having a wedding there.
  17. I know if I had it my way, it would be at a Carribean Island..... but it is too expensive. I have looked into the Riu Resorts, but my friends were married at one of them in PDC. I can't remember which one, but we did go to the others. Then I thought I had my heart set on the El Dorado Royale.... but then I found out you can't swim at the beach. (And also found out there will be kids attending) I have talked with some travel agents about swimming there and they all said you can, but my friend had her honeymoon there, and said they didn't swim there at all. I think it is important for you to beable to use the beach if you have people spending 1000.00 for 4 days... especially when some of the guests have never seen/ been in the ocean. What do you guys think? I think that is why I am having such a hard time. I want a nice resort... and it has to have a great beach. And good drinks. I have read a lot of complaints about drinks being really watered down at all inclusive resorts...My group of guests probably won't like that either....

I have never heard that the beach is unswimmable but did hear that it can be a little rocky, the other girls are right in saying that there are sandbags in the ocean in order to make it safer to swim (there was some damage done to the ocean floor in the hurricane I believe?). Hope I can help with your questions, let me know! Louisa why would sandbags make it safer?

    El Dorado Royale

Well, I guess I have liked everything I heard about the resort then.... and it would be perfect if the beach was nice and you were able to swim there. I did notice too that none of the pictures of the beach had any lawnchairs or beach activities.... I know I would want beach volleyball, and it would be nice to have the options of jetskis, parasailing etc.... I guessing it is not available here, otherwise they would list it like other resorts. I realize that they focus on relaxing though... I will have to look into it more. Does anybody know about any sunset cruises, or catamaran cruises at or near this resort? I took one in Jamacia once and it was amazing. I would like to take my guests on one, but again it doesn't look like the resort offers anything like this.

Thanks guys... I was born and raised in Belle Plaine, MN, about 35 miles south of Minneapolis. I lived in Chaska the last couple years, but have moved back to BP because that is where my FI lives... Where are you other mn's. from? I just noticed on another forum that the beach is un-swimable at El Dorado Royale... this is the first time I have read this. Does anybody have any info. on this? I think that would put a damper on the trip- a lot of my guests have never seen/ been in the ocean before.
  24. Hello all.... My name is Shea and I am from Minnesota. I have been struggling with finding a location, as most of you are, but I think I am going to go with El Dorado Royale, Rivera Maya. Does anyone know anything about this resort? Or, do they have any pictures? Any information would be great. Or, if there are any other resorts that you would recommend over this one? Thanks much! We are thinking about November 8-12 2007, having the wedding on Nov. 10th.
