  1. I have 5 tattoos and I love every single one! I have a star on my hip, a pixie on the back lower leg, a tribal art thing in the middle of my lower back and then 2 sparrows, one holding a rose (for my grandmom) on either side of the tribal that wrap around my side to the front hip area. They are a bit addictive though...once you get one, its hard to stop thinking about what else you might like! Some hurt some didn't, but I seem to have a higher tolerance. Its weird but I kinda like it....
  2. Amy..you looked great!! Thanks so much for posting all the details! Quick question.....how was your actual dinners and what did you pick. We are in the process of picking our menu and I was wondering if anything was really good (or really bad). Also...for seating arrangements..how did that work? Did you have where you wanted everybody and they put the place cards out? We are having ~80 people and i want to make our place cards with the table numbers on them before we go...but I have no idea how they will know who should sit where (obviously family closer tables to us, etc).

Every store looks the same. They are defenitly on broadway. I think they are between canal and something else. It's by the Q train station. But if you just go to chinatown and walk up and down the shops you will see them. They have them in almost every store. They usually sell them for 3 for $10 but I bargain with them and I have been able to get them for $2.75 especially since I have such a large order. The trick is asking them, they will say no, then walk away and act like you don't care. They usually call you back as your walking away and agree to your price. Thanks! I have friends that live in the city so I think I am going to try and grab them on my own when I visit and save you some heavy lifting. I will need ~50 of them, so I figure I can get the price down to about where you are. I think you are absolutely wonderful for doing this for all the other girls!! It is truly amazing how kind everyone on this site is! Everyone is so giving (you especially!) and willing to go out of their way for people they have never met face to face! I love it and I don't know what I would do without this site!
  4. Hi Glenda! I actually live in NJ, so I can get up to Chinatown to pick up the pash. myself, if you could tell me exactly where I need to go. Is that possible or just too crazy to describe??
  5. Hi ladies!!! I am in the process of doing my invitations and I was wondering when I should send them out. Since its a destination wedding, I feel like I should be sending them out a lot earlier than one would for a normal wedding. I want to make sure that everyone has enough time to make travel arrangements/get passports, since January is high season for Cancun. But we did send save the dates to everybody in April, so they have plenty of fair warning. So for those of you already married or already sent out invites, how long before your wedding did you send them out? THANKS!!!
  6. I voted palm trees...i actually almost got these invitations!! They are from mypersonalartist.com, right? They were a bit expensive for me but I really loved them!
  7. Hey Girls... I used Retin A for a bit but I had a horrible reaction to it. I was all red and sensitive. I hated it. I tried a few other methods as well but ended up using Accutane and I loved it! I did have to go for blood tests once a month (they actually will not give you your prescription for the month until the results come in) and I also had to sign a waiver saying I would not get pregnant during my treatment. I was nervous because of all the precautions but I've had bad acne my entire life and I was 24 and sick of it! I had 8 months of accutane treatment and I am now 27 and I still have amazingly improved skin. I still break out once in awhile BUT my skin was soo bad I was actually in pain some of the time. the one or two zits I get now are nothing. I am a huge supporter of accutane (for the right, severe case) because it totally changed my life.
  8. Oh...and P.S. Jilly - you and I are having the same wedding experience!! Dreams wedding with a ceremony at 4, then off to El Dorado Royale for our honeymoons! I can't wait till you get married to hear how it all went!! That way I can use you for all the best info!!
  9. Ok..I just checked my contract to try and clear this up. Our ceremony is at 4 as well, the cocktail hour is from 5-6 and reception is 6-10 and there is no extra charges. The international bar is open for only 3 hours of the reception and then it is $10 per person per extra hour for the bar only. You have to keep in mind that they do normally close the bar down during dinner (which takes about an hour) and only table serve wine. But the actual reception site is ours till 10, which to me is long enough...if we are all still in the mood to party we can do so on the resort (and off my dime!!). So I don't htink you have to worry about being kicked out or anything like that... whew...this was a doozy!

(I think that they will reserve tables for you and it's on the beach i believe) Hope this helps! Hi Leigh...I would love to do that BUT most of our guests are arriving on Wednesday and our wedding is Friday....it is a great idea though! This dress rehersal dinner is KILLING me!! It is sooo much extra money that we didn't think about when we budgeted ourselves. Not to mention the 20 extra people our parents insisted on having invited...AHHH
  11. Hey everyone....just received the price list for the bridesmaid's bouquets (pictures posted in this thread) from my TA. Here it is...except god knows which bouquet goes to which price because the pics have totally different numbers then the price sheet lists. I am assuming that the first pic is #1 and so on.... CODEPRICE 1$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 2$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 3$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 4$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 5$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 6$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 7$ 50 USD + 10% TAX 8$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 9$ 70 USD + 10% TAX 10$ 70 USD + 10% TAX 11$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 12$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 13$ 65 USD + 10% TAX 14$ 70 USD + 10% TAX 15$ 85 USD + 10% TAX 16$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 17$ 60 USD + 10% TAX 18$ 68 USD + 10% TAX 19$ 65 USD + 10% TAX
  12. Holy Hot Bride!! You look gorgeuos!! I love the dress!
  13. I think it looks nice...except for the top. You definitely need to get that altered and I agree with you that the pink toulle side will look much better with a matching color. But..I'm not much of a pink person anyway.
  14. Ok ladies...I just got all those bridesmaids bouquest from my TA too and I couldn't figure out how to post all of them for you! Did anyone receive prices with them? I didn't and I would really like to know how much I should plan on spending on flowers (we are using candles for centerpieces).
  15. They have a whole rainbow of available colors for the chair bows, along with different materials (satin,chiffon,etc.). We saw the book on our site visit. I couldn't tell you exactly all the colors..but there was a lot to choose from. One comment on the flowers on the back of the chairs...we saw a wedding that tied cala lillies on the back. After the 10 minute ceremony, the clean up crew cut them off and threw them on the ground. It was soo sad and a huge waste of the couples money. Just something to think about....if you are going to do chair flowers, do it at the reception!! For the cake....we tried the cheesecake at one (or 2) of the Dreams restuarants and it just wasn't that good. My Fi and I are cheesecake lovers and it just wasn't up to par. We decided to go with the chocolate fountain instead because we just weren't crazy about the cakes there.
  16. the bride and groom dance. At leaset that's how every wedding I've ever been to has been
  17. I want to trash the dress soo bad but we can't afford to have the photographer come back. Maybe we will do a trash the dress session for our one year anniversary. That way I will be sure to stay in shape after the wedding!
  18. I like the first one too! I think they are a nice size for your hair that will look pretty without overpowering your face.
  19. I really want to do the zip line thing but it doesn't say how long it is or if they serve lunch onthe trip. I am trying to stay away from all day activities because I want the bridal party to have a chance to relax and do their own thing too. I would hate to have them in Cancun and not get a chance to enjoy it because I have them running around so much.
  20. I can't believe people are reaching the thousands!! From what I understand...you normally try to cover the price per plate and maybe a little extra , if you can. I normally do $200-250/couple. And ,of course, you always end up buying ~$50 of bridal shower gifts. For my wedding, since it's a DW, I am really not expecting more than $50/couple because of the extra expense. Which means i won't even come close to breaking even for the wedding! We'll see. All you married ladies...what was your average gift amount?
  21. YAY Jersey girls!! My FI is from woodbury..which is right over the bridge from Philly. ok...my dress....I think I finally figured out how to post it.
  22. The beach is really nice but I worry about weather (I'm in January) and the wind. If the wind kicks up, even a little, everyone is going to be blasted with sand...not the best for a sit down dinner. But....the receptions are so pretty and if you do get lucky and get a perfect night, the beach is definitely the best place. I just am a worrywort and I would be nervous about the weather and wind the whole time. I am already anxious about it raining for the ceremony! I went to a tented ceremony/reception in the outerbanks two years ago and it rained so hard the wind was blowing the rain into the tent. It was horrrible and uncomfortable for all the guests. There were huge puddles everywhere and I ruined a brand new pair of $80 cream pants in the mud!! They had no back up plan at the site..so we were just stuck wet and cold. That probably is the reason I worry about weather so much, so don't listen to me!!!
  23. That price seems about right for gerber's. I love them as well and I think I might use mini gerbers and roses for my bouquet and my MOH and all the other girls will have just gerbers. I need to earn a few points to open some more of the attachments on here and get ideas!!!

My TA is actually doing all of this for me, but the resort should be able to help you in this area! Good luck! hey Leigh! How much are you paying to do your welcome dinner in one of the restuarants? My fi and I are struggling with this and when i asked Claudia she said it would have to be another private event..which we cannot afford (same price as the wedding reception). I wanted to just get together in one of the restuarants but Claudia said we couldn't make reservations. We also are figuring on 60-80 people...maybe thats why?? I'll have to talk to Donna about this!!
  25. When i did my site visit of Dreams, I watched two brides with the cathedrial length veil and they really stuggled with them! The one girl actually had her father wrap the veil around his arm as she walked and the MOH held it down through the ceremony! Now..Dreams is an extreme case becasue the gazebo is out on a cliff sort of thins, surrounded by water...so it is a bit more windy there then anywhere else. After seeing those two girls...I will be going with an elbow length veil with some sort of weight on the bottom (as suggested by Claudia Rodriguez, our photographer)
