  1. We were married their about a year ago, and we had a problem with the wine. They opened many bottles that nobody drank and we had to pay for them. Just double check with them. We paid on consumption and it wasn't too bad. I wish I would have known about the water, we negotiated and brought our own water from Costco. Good luck! They do a fabulous job.
  2. Welcome. I also had my wedding at the Hilton 7/7/07. They did a fabulous job. Enjoy your planning.
  3. I had my wedding there on 7/7/07 and I just wanted to give the heads up to watch the bar. We did the pay per drink and they opened wine bottles all around at dinner without our request so there was a huge charge for the wine that most people did not drink. I wouldn't worry too much about the food cost, it's fabulous.
  4. David Flores was great at our wedding. He makes you a little nervous when he says he does not want a deposit and he just schedules you. I just emailed him a lot and he always responded that he still had me listed.
  5. Make sure you have everything for your dress. I managed to forget a slip and my dress was see through. With quick thinking a slip was made for me.......
  6. I have 3 boys and my husband has 2 girls. The girls walked down with their dad and then we let them be flower girls dropping rose petals down the isle. My younger son was the ring bearer and my two older sons walked me down the isle. We incorporated the sand ceremony which they all loved, because I let them pick out what color sand they wanted. My husband wrote the vows to have some of the ceremony be for just the two of us and then some stating becoming a family. Since we are such a big group (7 total) we just had us as our wedding party. They also helped pick songs for the reception, but mostly we took care of the rest. They all handled it really well.
  7. We liked the Hilton cake also. When we did the site visit they introduced us to the pastery chef, but when we inquired about it later they said it was Jennifer Hatton who does the cakes. Our's was ok. Just make sure it's baked the same day as your wedding and not in advance. It will defiantly taste different it they make it ahead and refriderate it.
  8. Congratulations! The Hilton is fantastic!! We loved it. I agree with Kashmira above, the Sun Fun Hut is private, we had our cocktail party there and then moved onto the Dolphin Terrace, which was also very private. Most of our guests didn't even know that side of the hotel existed until the wedding. Have fun planning!
  9. I've been to Cabo twice during Thanksgiving and had great weather both times. It's also nice not being very crowded.
  10. No, but totally our fault. We were home for about a week and then went to Kauai for our honeymoon. We didn't send him our songs until after we got back, so we delayed him. Hopefully in a couple of weeks.
  11. We used 4 bamboo posts with the white sheet across from the Flower Cart and it was only $300.
  12. Whoops! Forgot to mention, that I also did everything in email w/Emeline and brought those emails along just in case. We had no issues, so it was fine. Like with all of the vendors, I would just make sure you have everything in writing.
  13. We used the orange ties as well. There is no charge. Emeline can give you a list of colors and she sent me pictures, so we could decide on colors. We also used the Flower Cart, but we had them take care of setting up the centerpieces. They were pretty resonable. I don't have pics yet. sorry.
  14. I just had my wedding at the Hilton. We had 40 guests and Emeline worked out fine. We hired all of the vendors ourselves and from what I can tell from this forum, we did fine negotiating great prices. We hired a DJ, Guitarist, photographer/video and flowers. As long as you give Emeline a detailed list she makes sure everything comes together. I would save the money if I were you.
  15. FYI! We did a legal ceremony in Cabo and I just started today going out and changing my name. I'm not sure if it's LA but so far I've had no problems. I went to the DMV and Social Security office and they looked at the certifcates we got in Mexico and went ahead and made the change. No questions asked. It took a little longer at the Bank. They started to tell me to have the documents translated, but when I told them it would be easier to close all my accounts they took a little longer researching. They made copies of my certifcates, receipt from DMV and SS office and then made the change. This is all I had time for today, but I'll keep you posted. I was very nervous when I read the information here, but so far it's been no problem.
  16. We bought some at the store in front of Cabo Wabo. I believe we spent $140 for 20 sets. We brought them home and I wrote on them with a sharpie our names and date of the wedding. Very simple. They were easy to travel back, but I totally understand about wanting to buy them there. I underestimated what a pain bringing all of the stuff for the guest bags was going to be.
  17. Definatly laughing about it now, but at the time......I was little crazy!
  18. Heads up to everyone regarding your dress. I had a light weight sheath dress. (I wanted something very light weight due to the heat) I tried it on in the store and at home. What I didn't check for, was if it was see-through in the sun. Was I surprise when I put it on minutes before the ceremony to find out that it was completly see-through. I thought my mother was going to have a heart attack. Instant panic attack. I couldn't leave the room without everyone seeing my white thong! Thanks to my new sister-in-law, she took a white pillow case, cut it, sewed it up and now it is a slip. So to everyone......make sure you don't forget a slip.
  19. Funny, I finally saw Sarah but it was when she was about to get married, so I didn't want to bother her -- it was during our reception. We are going to try to post pics that our friends have been passing to us. We should have our pics from the photographer in a couple of weeks.
  20. Hello all, I know I didn't post much but I thought it would be helpful to add a review. Hilton Los Cabos -- Resort is absolutly fabulous. Rooms were great. We had the ocean front, so we were able to take a lot of photos directly outside of our room with the ocean in the background. Food is excellent. Emeline was good. She was there every step of the way. We had confusion months before regarding setting up the judge for the legal ceremony, so we ended up doing both legal and civil. It turned out to be fine, just costly. We also had a few last minute changes for our ceremony which didn't happen, but nobody noticed just us. Resort happened to be crowed, so getting lounge chairs by the main pool was a hasstle. We wanted our group to sit together, so we would get up at 5:30 to reserve a whole group of seats. Not fun getting up, but worth it to have all of us together. Staff at the hotel was great. Anything you needed they were there to help out within minutes. They happen to be running a summer special for families, so kids ate for free, shuttle service was free, and internet service free. I had my hair and makeup done through there spa. Bummer was that the spa was under renovations, so the treatments were done in one of the hotel rooms. After we got through a few kinks, hair turned out pretty good. Makeup also turned out good. You just have to be a little assurtive on what colors you want and don't want. (Did not want orange lip stick) All in all it worked out. Florist -- The Flower Cart -- They did ok. My bouquet was beautiful (orange and white roses with some greenery) My Chuppah was very simple, 4 bamboo sticks with the white sheet drapped accross. We just had them adjust the size. They originally made it very small, that nobody could fit under. The boutiners worked fine, simple orange rose. I was dissapointed on the flower girls hair clip--it was only three small orange roses but not attached to a hair clip, so we had to improvise to keep it in their hair. Centerpieces were not exactly what I had ordered, but thankfully they turned out pretty. Like I said earlier, nobody knew what things were suppose to be, so everyone thought they were pretty. Guitarist -- David Flores -- Fabulous. He got there ontime, played for the ceremony and cocktail hour and the music was lovely. DJ -- Ricardo -- Played everything we requested, just forgot to make some announcements before some of the special songs dedicated to certain people. Other than that, he was great and everybody danced the entire time. Cake -- Jennifer Hatton -- We did not go directly through her, but the Hilton uses her for their cakes. We tasted some samples from her and they tasted extremely different from the samples from the Hilton. We thought they were using their own baker. They assured us it was Jennifer. My husband loves cake so this was very important to him. I think we must have just had samples that came out of a refrigerator, so they tasted different. Anyways, cake was good. Still didn't taste like the one we had at our tasting with the Hilton but nobody was complaining. Photographer -- Manuel Burgoin -- FABULOUS!!!! We have not seen pictures yet, but I'm not worried at all. He and his staff were great. They had me laughing so much, it was hard to get a serious picture. They were fast but never made you feel like you were rushed, so we were able to enjoy the cocktail hour as well as the reception. I joked that it felt like the paparazze, with the video and two cameras going off. Cabo Wabo -- We didn't have a formal welcome/rehersal dinner. We rented out the kids club and wanted all of our friends (especially w/kids) to have one fun night out. We asked whoever wanted to join us for dinner and dancing, they could come along. Cabo Wabo was great about accomodating a group that turned out to be 25 of us for dinner and then they reserved a section down by the dancing area. Everyone had a great time. Everyone would have stayed longer, but it was the night before the wedding. I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, so if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.
  21. I just used orange roses mixed with white roses with some greenery through the Flower Cart and they were beutiful. I don't have pics yet, but everyone said they were beautiful.
  22. Since you like all three, do you have a DJ? If so, maybe they can use all of them. A little from each song? We have two that we are using and the dj is going to play both. Just a suggestion if your having a hard time deciding.
  23. I'm bias to the Hilton also. I'm getting married there same day as Sarah. Just a couple hours before her, so between the two of us you should get a ton of information in the next couple of weeks. Emeline has been great. We also let her get us prices, but we ended up using outside vendors as well; flower cart, DJ Ricardo, photographer Manuel Burgoin, guitarist David Flores. We didn't go crazy w/flowers and centerpieces, so our price was $1350. Let me know if you need anymore info.
  24. The Hilton has a service but if I remember correctly is was pricey. We have one group coming in together (11 of them) so I hired a van that seats 7 and 4 of them are following in a taxi. We got our van through Transcabo and it's $120 round trip. The taxi is about $30. The rest of our group are coming in at different times, so they are just taking a taxi.
