    *JUST MARRIED*

Hi ladies!! My husband and I just got married at ERC on 10/4/14 and I would love to share our experience with you!  I just spent a huge chunk of time writing a long review in Word for you ladies...and when I tried to paste it in this forum nothing happens? Help!! Does anyone know how to copy from a Word Doc and paste into this forum? I tried Crtl+V and the little clipboard icons above but nothing is working :(

  2. Hello brides,

Please do not advertise your facebook groups on here.  Not only does it violate forums rules, but it is really unfair to try to poach members here to join your group.  If it is reported that you are advertising your facebook group either by posting or private message your account will be banned and the posts deleted.

  3. there are some agencies that really push certain resorts ONLY but we work with or clients to find a property that works for them.  There have been many times that the resort that would be perfect for the bride and groom was one that we did not work with but it was the right choice so I recommended the bride and groom book it (even if they could not use Wright Travel as their agency)

@@acw271011 I don't have a travel agent yet, for a couple of reasons. I kind of wanted to pick the place first (but I don't know if that's the right order?). Also, the two travel agents I spoke with so far, after I was very clear I was not interested in sandals, kept trying to push sandals. I thanked them for their time, and told them I was not interested in using someone who wasn't listening to me.

I feel like the more I try and plan this, the more confused I get. I wanted to do a DW because I thought I would feel less pressure. Hah hah.

  4. we can very easily update you when guests book.

We just sent out our first batch of save the dates (underestimated how many we would need). Some people told me that they booked their room or are planning to do it soon. We are using a BDW TA. I am just wondering if you receive updates from the TA as guests book their rooms on some kind of basis like monthly or something. Or do I have to ask?

    Thank you

  6. Just received this update from AMResorts:

    Dear Travel Partner,

We are happy to inform you that cleanup is well underway at our resorts and they are on their way to reopening. The cleanup process includes debris removal, cosmetic repairs and a final detailed cleanup. We are working hard and we are committed to not only bring our hotels back, but to make them better than ever.

In order to satisfy the needs of our mutual clients and ensure we are providing the highest level of service, we are amending the reopening dates of our properties. The new reopening date for all resorts in Los Cabos is November 15th, this includes:

    • Zoëtry Casa del Mar Los Cabos
    • Secrets Marquis Los Cabos
    • Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort
    • Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa

If guests are scheduled to arrive from October 15th until November 14th, we are offering the following options:

    • Guests may travel to the same brand that was previously reserved in an alternate destination for the same rate that was booked in Los Cabos in the same level category, based on availability
    • Guests may cancel their reservations without any penalty
    • Guests choosing to arrive in Los Cabos at a later date will receive the previously honored rates for up to a year, based on availability
    • The Christmas and Easter holiday periods are excluded from this policy

Please re-book the reservations through your original booking channel, and then contact the Reservations Manager at the resort with details of the new booking. Please include all booking information along with a screenshot of the original rate at which the room was booked.

  7. We know that many of you are scrambling in response to the tragedy that Hurricane Odile has brought to Cabo San Lucas — one of our most popular wedding destinations. In an attempt to quickly answer some questions, we’ve compiled as many updates from resorts as we could, including some helpful excerpts from our forum. We hope this answers some questions about the situation in Cabo, availability of resorts and reopening timeframes.

*A warning that this is our best guess of what has been going on as communication with the resorts is understandably spotty.

**Clients scheduling weddings with our sister travel agency (Wright Travel Agency) at Cabo resorts have been successfully moved to sister resorts in Cancun, Riviera Maya, or Puerto Vallarta.

What our forum brides are saying:

“MT” (who is/was planning on getting married at Sandos Finisterra) says: “I was able to find a couple of pictures of my resort and the damage was pretty bad. I told FI that maybe we should reschedule for another resort and he was resistant as he told me that we were going to get married in February in Cabo as we love Cabo and we loved all of the hardworking people we have met in Cabo. I know rebuilding the town will not happen in 5 short months, but going to Cabo, donating some money to relief, bringing some clothing which I was going to give to the local thrift stores and bringing our little bit of business there will help. I want to help so badly, as I just cannot fathom what the locals are going through.”

“ST” (had a destination wedding at Dreams Los Cabos in May, 2014) says: “The airport is also closed to further notice. The airport is in super BAD Shape. Thousands of people lost their homes as well. I know some resorts are offering future brides [sister resorts] I also believe they are also letting you cancel your reservations without any penalty and allowing future brides to change their wedding dates. (I saw this for Dreams but more than likely all resorts will probably be the same)

I hope this was some type help and sorry if I said things you guys probably didn’t want to hear but I know I would of wanted to hear this if my wedding was coming up.”

“J0” (wedding planned for 10/3 at Villa Del Arco) says: “My wedding was supposed to be held at Villa del palmar and arco on 10/3..... It said it had minimal damage but from what I've seen in pictures, it doesn't look minimal. A travel agent has advised we cancel all together. many of my guests booked a while ago and they may not get refunds on their flights since their travel dates fall outside their time frame which I feel terrible. I hope they can get their money back. I haven’t heard any word back from both resorts and it’s just devastating to go out there for a wedding when they have much more to worry about. People have lost everything.

I hope everyone here gets the wedding they have all hoped for. My prayers go out to all tourists and locals in Cabo right now. Cabo is such a beautiful place.....”

“MM” (wedding planned for 10/25 at Hilton Los Cabos) says: “In fact, I only learned from a guest who only just got out of the hotel and home that the resort wasn't planning on opening until months after my planned wedding”

“DV” says: “As of this morning I officially confirmed with the wedding coordinator, Meriam, at the Sandos Cancun that they have our wedding date available and in the process of moving all the rooms for me. She also asked me to send over everything I have arranged with Lupita since there is no internet or cell service into Cabo. I joined a group on Facebook that is fairly accurate with updates and it looks like it may be weeks before they are ready to take any sort of guests. I have spent the afternoon contacting airlines and they have been more than helpful, all have waived transfer fees for me. I also am looking for a photographer. I am really worried I might lose my deposit with the photographer in Cabo. That would be a lot of money to be out, but in the end all that matters is that my wedding happens, everyone has fun and is safe. Praying for those in Cabo.”

“HQ”(wedding planned for 6/22/15 in at Sandos Finisterra in Cabo San Lucas) says: “I am sure there are others out there that have been watching the news on the hurricane which just passed through Cabo. From what I have read, there were approximately 135 people treated for injuries and no reported deaths (thank God!). After all of this information was confirmed, I was determined to find some information on the resort’s status. Unfortunately, the resort where we booked our wedding just two weeks ago was hit very hard. The Sandos Finisterra stated that they are no longer accepting reservations from this day forward and that any future reservations will be offered to stay at a sister resort. If anyone else finds anything online that they wouldn't mind sharing with us Cabo brides I would greatly appreciate it. Such devastating news for such a beautiful place! I hope that the death toll does in fact stay at zero and that this community gets all of the aid and support that is needed.”

  8. we are destination wedding specialists and some of the things we offer:

    1. we negotiate group rates and amenities if applicable.

    2. we book your guests and answer their questions.

    3. we intervene if you are having issues with the resort. Being a top agency for most of the resorts we have much more pull and connections that a standard agency.

    4. in an emergency situation like what just happened in Cabo, we help make alternate plans for your group travel.

  9. thanks so much for the shout out!

Our contact is in my signature below.

I would use wright travel (runs this site and gets awesome reviews from American brides!)... In this day and age it is more important to have an agent who specializes in destination weddings and who have great partnerships with the resorts! A TA can be located anywhere in the US and do a great job for you! I would go with an expert rather than a local agency.

    Good luck and happy planning!!!

  10. Hi Lisa,

I think I know what review you are talking about (an audio company?)  I have had vendors ask to remove a review but I tell them it is something they should work out with the client that wrote the review.  They should look at what their client has faults with and try to fix the problem, not hide the review.

Vendors cannot delete their reviews BUT if the writer of the review asks to delete it, it can be done as a courtesy.  in this case, the person that wrote it asked to delete the review (just like you have asked multiple times to delete posts that you have made).

ps. I also wanted to comment that some of your comments are very divisive and abrasive.  Like you tend to see the bad in every situation before getting the full story.  An example is a post you wrote about a wedding vendor.  Then negative posts about hotels.  You have then asked me to delete your posts but the truth is, the damage has been done to the vendors that you wrote badly about (even if you were mistaken then want the post taken down).

I have also had complaints about your posts.  Have you thought about maybe reading what you write before you post?

  11. Kat, how did you block the rooms? Through an agent?  Directly with the resort?

Have you thought about asking if they will honor for the 7 rooms?  I know in the past AMResorts has honored the group rate for 6 rooms.  It is not a guarantee that they will do it and is up to the resorts discretion on whether or not they agree BUT there is no harm in asking.

We have done it for our clients.

  12. Hi Daisy,  Welcome to BDW.  We have a few destination wedding specialists here on the forum.

There are quite a few All-inclusives in the Caribbean so if you want to reach out, we can help narrow down the best choice for your wedding.
