Fake Flowers

Okay, I know this is a weird question, but I was wondering if anyone out there used fake flowers for their bridal bouquet, boutonnières, and bridesmaid flowers. I found these really great flowers at Michael’s (a craft store) that look like real flowers (no kidding). When my FI got home last night he was like "Nice flowers! Are they real?" Then I got to thinking I just might use these instead of buying real flowers in Costa Rica. It will cut my flower budget in half.

Do you guys think this is tacky?

Not at all. If you think they look real then I'm sure no one else will no the difference.

Or sometimes I have heard of brides that have used some real and some fake in their bouquet. Sort of a mixture to keep cost down to.

Not only would it save money, but then you could keep them! Not a bad idea!

I used fake flowers because I wanted magnolias. They were really pretty at the time (but not so pretty now) - my mother's friend is a designer and she made them for me. I must mention that this was 1996 to help explain. lol

Honestly, I have my bouquet - it's kind of smashed - and I'm always thinking, "Why in the heck did I use fake flowers??" There is just the freshness and aliveness of real flowers. If I had it to do over again I would choose a really simple, small "real" bouquet.

I don't think it's tacky at all I've heard of many people doing this to save money money...personally I wouldn't do it just because I love the smell of fresh flowers

I was going to try to make some flowers (tissue). Martha Stewart has the directions in her magazine and I think it's posted somewhere on the forum too. I haven't gotten around to it yet. If I was really motivated, I was going to attach a tissue flower to each OOT bag (give it a little color and Mexican look) or I was thinking of using the paper ones for my ceremony (on guest book table or something) - still not sure if I'll actually get around to doing this or if I have the extra in my budget.... has anyone else tried making these??

I'm planning to use fake orchids on my tables tucked between shells. I figure it is going to save me $$. They look real! I don't think it's tacky at all as long as the fake flower is a good quality one.

I was thinking about doing fake flowers in my bouquet to save money. The bouquet is pretty low on my list of priorities so I don't want to spend a ton of money but of course I want them to be beautiful! I haven't fully decided yet...

I love the idea of using fake orchids Jessalyn - real ones are SO expensive down there! Where are you getting yours from?
